MAJOR props to anyone who can complete the 75 Hard challenge, but when I saw this trending on TikTok I personally knew I would be miserable if I ever tried it. I'm pretty active and walk/hike for 45 minutes daily, but I love sushi, pretzels, and ice cream, and generally don't deny myself the things I love. I totally believe that people will be different by the end of this challenge, but I don't think I could ever try this myself haha

Sushi isn’t bad if you get tue healthy rolls. The same as eating out isn’t cheating if you get healthy options like protein, rice and veggies or potatoes. You can do a nice healthy wrap. Thats not cheating especially staying within the calorie range diet you choose.

So glad what you said about “people with kids”. I am a single working mum with 3 kids under 8 doing 75 hard… there’s no way I can safely work out outside for 45 mins every day. So when it’s not possible, I workout twice indoors, and I have all my equipment at home. I don’t believe I should call it 75 soft though as it’s a safety issue (can’t leave 3 kids in the house alone) rather than a modification because I just want to modify

💙 I’m doing 75 Soft, currently on day 7 so I’m still at the beginning…but I love it! I really enjoy this version of it, it’s more realistic but still challenging -read 10 pages (any book) -weigh yourself daily (for charting purposes) -do one 45 minutes workout every day with 1 active rest day per week -eat healthier, 80/20 -drink 64oz of water daily -no alcohol except 1 drink on social occasions It’s been more of a lifestyle kinda thing, I feel like I’m living the best version of me I might try 75 Hard after I’ve completed a round or two of Soft…we’ll see

I am so glad I watched this video. It’s so amazing that you realized the purpose of the challenge is consistency and overcoming hurdles that come our way in day to day life! That is the nugget of wisdom that I am keeping from this video. I know I want to do something like this but I would have to tweak it: still challenging, but not exact. The amount of water is one and I want to focus on reading the word of God and prayer as a consistent, and just reading ten pages of the Word isn’t the purpose. It’s to think on what I’m reading and develop and strengthen my relationship with the Lord, not the amount of pages. So those two I would tweak. I think keeping the two exercise goals is challenging, weather and time being obstacles to overcome and learn to not let those things detour me. I would want one day of rest, however. I agree with you on that! Thanks for doing this video!

But I do follow the general rules. I have my kid with me everyday, every where, with no help so it is literally impossible for me to complete this the Andy way, however I believe at the end of this I will be way more disciplined and feel better than I did before! In one of the podcasts by Andy, he talks about a physical book because you should concentrate on your reading and what you are reading. With audiobooks, you could be doing several other things so not retaining the knowledge or taking the time to enjoy just reading. With that said, he has mentioned that for those with a visual challenge such as blindness - an audiobook is fine.

Yes!! All of this. I’ve been thinking about doing the challenge because I 😮did Whole30 very successfully, however, the rules for 75 hard seem crazy. You NEED rest days. Any personal trainer, doctor, nutritionist, etc will tell you that. With Whole30 you couldn’t drink and I did well, but that was only 30 days. Also, don’t tell me I’ve failed the whole challenge and have to start over because I didn’t take a photo. 🥴 Also, worth noting, why is it always a guy that’s like “find time to work out!”? What about the things you pointed out: kids, 9-5 job, commute time? When is there time to have a life and spend time with your family? Also, women can’t just work out, take a shower and be to the office 30min later. We have to do our hair and make up (something men forget). Sorry for the rant. I like the way you did it and I don’t think you failed. You’re results were amazing. Thank you for posting this video.

I just recently heard about this 75 Hard Challenge a couple of days ago when a video popped up in my KZbin feed from someone who had attempted the challenge. Immediately upon hearing "the rules" associated with the challenge, I knew it was not for me. C'mon 75 days in a row without rest? Even God rested on the 7th day!! I am totally human and I am far from being the Energizer bunny. I am 58 and have had double knee replacement surgery and I recently started walking on a treadmill in the exercise room of our apartment (and the past few days outside now that the weather has warmed up ~~ albeit a temporary warmup since it is supposed to be back in the 40s again this weekend and they are talking about the potential of snow). And let me just say ~~ my left knee in particular is definitely making its presence known. I also know that I will not walk outdoors in the pouring rain or with thunder and lightning. And living in Minnesota, after having my knees replaced, I will not walk outside during the winter months for fear of falling and doing permanent damage to my knees. There is no challenge in the world worth risking my physical safety. I personally feel as though it is way more beneficial to develop long term, sustainable habits for your lifestyle and without guilt or fear of "failure." I am also a firm believer that slow progress in better than no progress. And I also feel like if you put things off limits (i.e., no cheat days in terms of one's diet) it just makes you crave those things that much more. Ultimately when the challenge is over, many people will just go and binge all of those off limit things (food, alcohol, etc). Like so many things in life, do them in moderation. This is true when it comes to food and alcohol, too. Going through the McDonald's drive-thru one time should not cause you to feel guilt. Having a margarita if you go out to eat should not cause you to feel guilt. But it doesn't mean you should go to the McDonald's drive-thru three meals a day or have 6 margaritas if you go out to eat dinner every single evening. Again for me, it is allowing myself to build sustainable, guilt free habits and not just for 75 days.

I think part of the challenge is since you have to restart if you fail is so that you can NEVER actually fail if you follow the rules. What I mean by that is that if you fail, you restart. That’s not failing. It’s only failing if you give up. The whole point of restarting from day one is so that you can never fail. You attempt it over and over again from day one until you finally get it

Me personally, sick days don't count. Like... you just can't avoid it so I honestly just pause the day I'm on. No reason to 'punish and start over' if you are genuinely sick. Also with working out, he didn't say they needed to be balls to the wall difficulty in workouts. Just stay active. Two days out of the week I would do a hike, yoga session, or mobility work. The regular workouts are cardio and weight training. This allowed me to keep my energy levels even throughout the week.

One I personally toss into the mix is morning pages journaling - 750 words stream of consciousness - ignites the initiative to express what we need to express - the ritual becomes very powerful over time, allowing the complex mind to come to more authentic fruition in a written framework. I type them in an app Day One, although the original method by Julia Cameron of The Artists Way instructs to handwrite them. Even though I'm typing instead, the impact has been huge over months of consistency. I'd never been able to stick to a journal more than a few days in the past. I also see as "let the universe to speak through you" after listening to Rick Ruben's The Creative Act: A Way of Being. Forces we can't fully comprehend but we can certainly engage.

I have a major perfectionist attitude and I'm not sure if this will make it better or worse. I tried what I thought was 75 hard for 45 days before realizing I had followed the rules incorrectly. I was so enraged with myself that I relapsed into self harm methods I hadn't done in 6 years. That was 2 weeks ago and I still am trying not to hurt myself in frustartion of my failure while deciding if another attempt is worth it. The diet part is the hardest for me cuz, aside from the obvious no fast food, I don't really know anymore what would be considered a cheat meal. I've been vegan for 8 years soley for moral reasons and every major vegan influencer I've come across considers mock meats, mock cheeses, and pasta to be clean. Then the keto community will say cheese and butter are clean. Then the diabetic community will say that sugar free desserts are clean. All these things seem like something that Andy would call a cheat meal and then on top of that I have no clue where salad dressings, sauces, and nut butters would fall. I know he also sells protein powders for shakes, so what does he think about the protein bars, cookies, and chips found in the pharmacy section of grocery stores. All this stresses me out just thinking about it. I feel like I can't win. Is this thing worth me trying if I'm just gonna be stressing out and then self harming when I fail. I keep asking around for advice from people who've completed the challenge and nobody has answered. I wonder if its cuz they too see me as weak and a failure.

I enjoy a challenge, but I don't believe in all the rules of 75 hard. Like you, I believe a rest/recovery day is important-especially at my age of 64! I also don't agree with the rule that a book has to be a print copy. You are consuming the same information no matter the format.

I completely agree!! Happy to know people understand those points too

planning on starting "75 soft" don't know what im going to call it though because calling it soft feels disrespectful to me because it will be hard for me. one of the rules I will be forgetting about is the taking a picture every day. for me, the challenge isn't to loose weight, its to see if I can do it and test my will power to do it. taking pictures everyday will just make it weight focused and make me discouraged.
@july3817 Жыл бұрын
Don’t know if you already started but maybe instead of progress pics you could do a mood tracker or take a picture every day of something you are proud of that day (finished workout, pages you’ve read, new recipes you’ve tried)

You did so amazing! I'm doing 75 Soft now, considering some day doing 75 Hard. But the thing with me is I'm such a perfectionist I wouldn't handle not doing it 100%, so I know I'll fail a few times at least.

the recomended is to drink 35 to 40ml of water for kg, so if you weight 60kg, you drink 2,4L, if you weight 80, you drink 3,2L. Of course you can drink a little more, but thats the calculation you do to stay hydrated.

A part of me wants to do 75 hard. A part of my knows a few things: a) I get migraines. There will be days where I physically won’t be able to do ANY workouts let alone 2; b) i live in Arizona, unless I start this in winter, it’s unsafe to do a 45 min workout in 110* heat.

I actually think its areally good challenge to aim for as long as you dont have an all or nothing mindset. Some of it is actually easy working out out side can be anything so walking outside each day is not that hard. Does depend on weather though. The diet could literally be any diet you want. Paleo, keto etc. I did just no junk food and chocolate bars etc. I think giving up alcohol is the big one that makes you start again. Once you start again though, what happens is it motivates you to go longer with out next time. I lasted 68 days my second time and my first time ran concurrently with that at 14 days so I was actually over the days. The stupid aspects are the water. You shouldn't be drinking that much in my opinion, it just goes staright through you and when you stop it makes you feel dehydrated on a normal amount. The book think is stupid as well. I read fiction as fiction is superior for your brain in my opinion. I definitely cheated on the water and the book part but eveerthing else is good to aim for.

I agree with the water…a gallon is a crap load of water! I’d probably be peeing constantly all day long so if I did this I’d just make it a rule I’m only drinking water and have my water bottle with me all the time. I naturally sip on it all day and don’t track how much I actually drink. I don’t workout for even 15 min everyday so suddenly doing 1.5 hrs a day..my body would be like wtf are you doing lol. I think I’m gonna try something but it’s gonna be soft!
