Yeah I remember when these old shadows became cheap, paid $10 grand for a stunning dark blue with black vinyl roof one, cost about the same to make it road worthy, quite a bit of that was tires, passed it on to a mate who needed a family car, he drove it for almost 10yrs it never failed him & he made a few bucks when he passed it on too, Rj in Oz
@kingcountrytowing Жыл бұрын
That's awesome, 10k would have been cheap for one in Oz, I'm living in New Zealand now. I think the prices are rising on them a lot now

Charlie and Mark Spence are my spirit animals. Unlike some other guests that have been on here, I actually believe everything he said that happened. He doesn't need to embellish a story or make up some wild tale like when he was 6 he stole a drug dealer's schoolbus and was kidnapped by the yakuza. Reap stuff

I drive my 71 Silver Shadow almost every weekend. They aren’t bad cars if you drive them regularly. The brake system can get expensive to repair but do your own work & it cost about the same as taking a modern car to the shop for similar repairs.

An old boy I used to know worked at Pressed Steel in Cowley told me years ago that they used to make the Silver Shadow bodies there, and on average they used to put about 2lbs of lead into each body shell when filling gaps, he said that there's so much lead in the air that they all had to wear face masks and no visitors were allowed in because the lead content was too high.

The 190e was such a great car, economical, great on the motorway a good handling car, and incredibly well made . Silver shadows are still relatively affordable to buy, just horrendous to run 😉
