For those of you who are interested, here's a really brief summary to help you understand South Africa a bit better. Two decades ago the "Apartheid" regime ended in South Africa. It was a terrible regime which favoured the whites and severely hampered the economic growth of "non-whites". Even though it ended officially, it left a scar of racial segregation in South Africa. This is naturally taking ages to heal. The result is that South Africa is still massively racially segregated (divided). It also means that generally one's race is closely tied with ones economic bracket. This is all changing slowly. Regarding domestic workers (maids)... they provide over 1 million jobs in South Africa - which has one of the highest unemployment rates in the world. In most of my friends families, domestic workers become a part of the family. Miriam, the domestic worker I grew up with, came to all my birthdays, my wedding, etc. It's a dignified, low-income job. It's absolutely degrading and inappropriate to refer to them as 'slaves' so please refrain from using that term. This is obviously a very brief overview of a sensitive subject but if I wrote any more you probably wouldn't read it. Happy to answer any other serious questions. :)

Are u living in gated communities because I have heard in school that the crime is very high in South Afrika or isn't there any where you are living? Beside of that im curious if the domestic worker are living in the same houses with the families or do they have their own houses/flats? (Sorry, I hope you understand my english im obviously not a native speaker.) Have a good day!! Greetings from Germany :)

I don't get why people are so rude about your "maid".. I know women here in Switzerland that get some extra money by helping other families with their children and households and it is such a common things to have "day-moms" and household helpers. I think it would be rude to NOT have someone helping with your household right? And your house is amazing btw :D

Not only will Louis learn something, but we will all learn a thing or two about health, direction, and most of all, the importance of shared experiences!

As a South African, some of these comments are extremely frustrating for me to read. It is very easy for people who live in first world countries to sit behind their computer screens and judge a country without having a clue what they're talking about. I am currently travelling in Germany and have found it next to impossible to explain the complicated racial and economic dynamics to people I meet because so many just can't fathom how the country could still have obvious racial divide given that apartheid has ended. It's only been 20 years! In the grand scheme of things, that's not a very long time for a 3rd world country to magically change the entire state of the nation and all the ideologies and mind-sets held by the people within it. South Africa, like everywhere else in Africa, is by large a poor and uneducated nation. Our government isn't exactly known for efficiency or fair distribution of resources and because of the decades of apartheid practices preceding 1994, one's race is still often tied to one's standard of living/financial situation. THIS IS CHANGING, THANK GOD! It is already incomparably better to how it was. As a born free who has attended good schools with students of all races - I can confidently say our country is better than it's ever been in terms of integration. BUT, things are changing slowly. And in all honesty, I don't think given the government we have and the scale of our history - we could reasonably be expected to move any faster. Also, on the topic of domestic workers, would you rather they be unemployed? I take serious offence to these comments because my family have employed a number of domestic workers over the years who have become part of our family. These women have played a hand in raising me and they are proud of the work they do. We currently have a young woman who lives with us (in excellent conditions I might add) and her daughter stays with us too. We pay for her school fees, they spend holidays with us and are considered valued members of our family. Her daughter is like my baby sister. So kindly stop generalising when it comes to white south africans and how we treat others. It is ignorant. Of course, there are still racists in my country as there are racists in EVERY country the world over. Many of these commenters probably come from countries with their own histories of colonisation, oppression and discrimination. Look at your own nation's background before you judge another's. South Africa is a beautiful, diverse and vibrant country. We have our problems, but we're working on them.

I have always wanted to go to South Africa. When I was at camp over the summer we had a counselor who lives in South Africa but came to the untied states to be a counselor at the camp and our cabin table at lunch did a counselor switch and the South African counselor was right next to me. We were all talking about places we wanted to go when older and I said South Africa and he told me some things about it. I find the culture and history to be so fascinating and now it makes me want to go there even more! This is a big life goal to one day go to South Africa!!

Alright everyone listen up. For those of you saying "oh my god a black maid" "oh my god that's slavery" you guys don't get it. Here in South Africa, having a maid is normal and they are NOT slaves. It is a job. Some people are poor and they work as maids or shopping clerks or gardeners etc. They do it to earn money. We don't torture them or whatever the hell you think we do to them. That's not how it works. So many people see South Africa in the worst light and it breaks my heart. We are an amazing country so please can you actually do some research and learn about us before you judge us. I have a maid and I love her to bits. She's the sweetest person ever and we are so kind to her. She's lucky to have a job because lots of people in South Africa don't. And Ebola is another story. When Connor Franta, Caspar Lee and Troye Sivan came here everyone thought they would get Ebola. Listen Ebola isn't everywhere in Africa okay it's in parts of it. Louis is not going to get it. Cape Town doesn't have Ebola. Again do some research before you assume and judge us.

Louis you should totally try to get your hands on some Koeksisters, I don't know if they're very common in South Africa (like biltong), but they're so so good. They're like little small bits of dough fried and with honey or something, overly sweet, but really good.

Although south Africa has overcome apartheid, i cant help notice in ben's vlogs for example and in this vlog too, it seems that most of the lower-paying jobs are filled with black members of the public, like cleaners, waiters/waitresses etc. i don't mean to sound racist at all, i hate racism but its just what i have noticed. I saw that some others noticed it on some of ben's vlogs and i can't help but notice it too.

I am South African. Some of the comments I've read have really been quite negative about my country. Yes Apartheid happened and there was a lot of racism and people were segregated. There is a lot of poverty in our country and that is the cause of a lot of shack towns in our country. The reason why the majority of poor are black is because those who lived in the Apartheid era were not educated the same as others which means that they didn't get high ends jobs and thus effects those in the future in their family. It is quite a usual thing to have a maid in South Africa. No it is not slavery they are given a salary some families are more generous than others but there is a set minimum that they must be paid. Racism is still alive however the rest of the world still faces racism. Please do not say that your country is any better with racism because trust me no country is perfect. If you want anymore information feel free to do some research before making assumptions or you can read a brief summary done by Nick Miller in a comment below me. Thank you for reading and enjoy the rest of your day :)

Piano Around the World Na not true, to be ripped you basicly need to burn more calories then you need to maintain your weight (depending on if you already are ripped you can eat at a maintainance level or lower of your daily calorie intake). Training actually has very little to do with how you look compared to your diet.

before you judge someone else living, try to wash away your sins, and look at your selves first. Nick & Ange's maid is lucky in her situation (of being on her job) because she has uniform and stuff, she worked with lovely people like nick's, compared to my country which natives worked as maid to also a native, just for money reasons, no racial whatever , and yet some(of them) are treated brutally/by violence. Some of our natives even flew to a country, to be a nanny and yet some people are just dumb enough to kill or treat them brutally.
