Oh how I wish this video was made 6 months ago! It would have eased my nervousness. I only had 2 people at my battalion board. I went second and it definitely is an advantage! They took about 30 mins on each of us but I was still at the local battalion for 4 hours or so. Both of us who were interviewing had a few issues with our packet, so they made sure to point it out to our recruiter to fix the issues. The biggest issue was the quality of our professional photos. I was not asked anything specific about my grades. Most questions were asking why this is an option for me at this point in my life and we spoke about my background. They also wanted to ensure that I understood what I was getting into as well as if I had the support of my family. I was TERRIBLY nervous and one captain called me out on it. While that was slightly embarrassing, it was my tone of voice that gave away my nervousness not my responses. I was extremely proud of what I said. I was unanimously approved. There is no reason to be nervous, they are just trying to get to know who you are! You should be able to speak professionally about yourself. I am currently pending the decision of the USAREC board coming up in a FEB. Good luck to all of you applying and thanks for this video!!!!

Thought I'd give my 2 cents now that my board is (successfully) over. One recent change is there is no longer a USAREC board from my understanding - Just Battalion. I drove with my recruiter to the Army Battalion HQ and we got there early, 2 other recruits walked in some time after me. I waited about 90 minutes and my name was called, so I was the first of the group to go. My actual board lasted about 12-14 minutes. I was interviewed by a SGT. Major and 2 other captains in a small panel room and they each asked fairly standard questions. The first question was "Give us a brief introduction and then tell us why you want to be an Army Officer?" Second question came from a MI Captain, asking me what position of leadership I have been in. Third question by the other captain "What do you do in a situation where you have too much to do?" Final question was asked by the SGT. Major who asked me a personal question, "How does your family feel about you joining the Army, and are you a ready-to-go type of person, as in if we needed you tonight, would you be ready to ship out and fight?" They selected and congratulated me.

I took my battalion board a little over two weeks ago. I’m waiting to hear if my packet got accepted by USAREC..so apparently it must change from time to time.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that, if you are going reseves, you just do the battalion. But if you want to do active, you do both battalion and USAREC

I enjoyed my board. They didn't ask horrible questions. It was fun, actually. However, I was sweaty as hell after, lol. I was the first, b/c I lived the furthest from the battalion headquarters. Board on the 3.15. Enlisted on 4.17. Leaving for BCT in August. Can't wait and scared at the same time!!

Just finished my OCS Structured Interview yesterday. The interview was conducted at a Brigade level vs Battalion. I was recommended by all three interviewers; 1 Maj and 2 CPTs. I'm currently enlisted as a SPC. I had 4 recommendations 1 LTC, 1 Maj, 1 CPT, and 1 CW2. My degree is in Computer Science but my GPA is pretty low. What's the chance that I won't get selected. @kidthndr2

My OCS interview lasted about 15 minutes at Fort Dix, N.J. Four officers were on the board. President was a LTC. One major, one capitan and brand new 2LT. He was an ass. His only question was why are you wearing PFC stripes when your application says you are a PV2¿. My answer: Sir, I was promotrd subsequent to submitting the application. The LTC smiled abd asked have you any more questions Lieutenant? I passed and went to Infantry OCS graduating as a 2LT
