You do actually have to do some cycling of gears and a specific temperature to properly fill the transmission. But in all honesty. You can overfill the GR6 by 2 qts and it's just fine and actually helps to prevent cavitation on launches and hard acceleration. For Ecutek press and hold cancel then use the toggle up and down for cruise control to cycle between Maps.

Oil filter in the transmission has a sealing ring on its side - technically it doesn't matter if it is tight or not until the sealing ring is in the cylinder. 2. I believe manual says to check transmission oil level after warm up - especially if there is an oil cooler. 3. Spark plugs - just said half a turn and made 1/4 of a turn :))

But now that I'm 15 years older and watching your video, I am in love again. Thanks for bringing back my youth! This is the first of your videos that I'm watching more than once because your joy is so genuine and contagious. P.S. I just noticed the video is 1 hour long! I've watched it at least 3 to 4 times now.

No, we use salt in Canada. In -20c situation, we use sand because salt is not effective. But for certain yes do use salt most of the time.

I had a 2010 and it was so much fun. It was bone stock. Put 50k miles on the car, did a few track day’s and attended a GTR Nissan sponsored event where there were 50 GTRs at Monticello race club. Enjoy the car. They are special

Contact your nearest Nissan dealership’s service department and ask them to pull the service history on the car. They’ll be able to pull up every record of it being serviced at any Nissan dealer in the USA (and maybe Canada).

Great acumen getting the trans problem knowing it could only be the bracket, you ended up with a stage 1 and 20k miles less, a great bargain altogether, congrats!

Alex is funny. He is surprised that the GTR with a fully built trans is tuned and then thinks the spark plugs are still the originals. 🤣

Proper trans fill is put both plugs in. Start car. Shift gears several times. Bring temp to operating temp. Then remove bottom plug. Let drain out. When it stops it’s full. Put plug back in

Alex, in case you need to remove the intake again, you could probably re-use the copper gaskets but you may have to anneal them (I.e. heat them up and dip them into cold water). I don't know if you're familiar with Allen Millyard, the motorcycle shed guru, if not you really should check him out on KZbin. He makes and re-uses his own copper gaskets like this. Love the GTR content!

Alex before you mode the car make sure you can unlock the programing. Get those air tubes at least around the side of the radiator it will lower the intake temps at least 30 or 40 degrees during the summer when the engine is up to temp.

now i am, a retired tech and i am Nissan certified ,but not GTR certified and i highly recommend, following Nissan's fill procedure on the GT-R's DCT transaxle other wise over filling can and will lead to issues. I had the pleasure of watching one of our dealerships old master techs do this service and like all current Nissan transmissions it is involved much like doing a spill and fill on the CVT transmissions. as for why I never got GT-R certified i spent a lot of my career at a Porsche dealership and just didn't feel like dicking with high-end applications anymore also Porsche destroyed my hands after 14 years still good content glad you got your GTR dude maybe ill get mine sone day but till then I'm working on my C5R project when i have time :)

Alex, welcome to the world of Japanese cars that are sooooo easy to work on. And also welcome to planet GT-R. We here in Australia were the only market outside of Japan to get the car way back in 1991 and have been leading modifying of them ever since. Glad you guys are enjoying the R35s, the R32 and everything in between. My younger son has owned an R33 since 2016 and will never part with it - now you know why

Alex, a small advice. I heard you accelerated prior to shutting down the gtr. Don't do it on any turbo engine as you leave the turbos spinning fast and you cut off the lubrication on the turbo shafts and also the cooling if they are liquid cooled like on Mercedes. Wait 40 seconds of idle before shutting down. Let it reduce the speed and drain the heat before shutting down. Great mechs and I enjoy your adventures. Kind regards from Mexico.

Just for the record - the R5 GTR on performance winter tyres is great all year round. I ran one through six Canadian winters and never got stuck heading out to ski runs. The main limitation is ground clearance in deep snow - not traction. On several occasions on roads north of Toronto I drove round 4WD trucks that were spinning their wheels. It is also a fantastic track car and all it needs is a higher octane map, Michelin Cups and upgraded brake pads, to run some decent lap times. Additional mods are not needed for that.
