You should watch Defined Autoworks if you don't already. That thing is the OG four rotor build and the guy actually made a replica of the R26B (actual 787B motor). It's cool to see the differences between setups like Rob's, The TCB Magic cars and PPRE vs. an R26 style build. If you're a giant nerd like me, the R26 stuff is so cool! Center housing coolant inlet/outlets, the whole engine bolts together from both sides to the center iron instead of through studs. Really cool.

To go along with the firewalls, a good extinguisher system would be well worth it. I have seen way to many cars go up that don’t need to. Also for you a 5 point harness might be something worth installing. Many tracks anymore won’t let you run 4 points due to submarining. Keep up the good work man this things awesome!
@CaptainLicorice2 жыл бұрын
I've never heard the term "submarining". Is when people slide down and out of harness?
@jadehegler64892 жыл бұрын
@@CaptainLicorice if i remember right its from being forced down and out of the seat and under the harness during an accident which can be dangerous to your neck and spine. can also happen without the harness being properly attached in the correct position
@kooooons2 жыл бұрын
You don't need to entirely slip out of the harness for it to be submarining. The dangerous part of submarining is, when the lower part of the Belt slips into you abdomen and presses upwards. This can cause very nasty internal injuries. Some street cars even have anti-submarining airbags in the seat under the thighs to prevent this. A Reclined seating position without proper thigh support will favor submarining.

Wish I could have made it out there to Grid Life, but It was such a pleasure to FaceTime! I just want to say you’ve served as an massive source of inspiration for me the last year. I was really fortunate to land a job I wasn’t anywhere near qualified for on a DevOps team in early 2021. My lack of technical knowledge being a challenge every single day. But watching you and Isaiah take on the AWD 4 Rotor with extremely limited technical experience given the job at hand, has helped me a ton. I try every day to emulate your refusal to allow yourself to be intimidated by things you don’t presently posses the technical ability to complete by breaking them into smaller attainable parts or tasks. If an IT guy named Rob can build a race car most said was impossible in his garage, then I, an IT guy, can do slightly harder IT stuff. 🏁❤️

that's so cool that the tech guy let you get it out on the track. Some tech guys can be a real pain in the ass and not budge on stuff. I do understand their job and having to abide by the rules most of the time. But there is usually a way to still do things safely with a compromise and this guy handled it perfectly by letting you just get out on the track at the end all alone and just doing a casual lap or two. And then when you went out for the rolling shots, around the 23:36 mark I swear the front end looks like Johnny 5's head/face from the "Short Circuit" movie. That view with the front end all exposed, those specific headlights and radiator plus your side view mirrors sitting at just the right spot completely gives the same look and feeling as Johnny 5's head. Completely unintentional but once you see it, you can't unsee it.

Nice that the official’s there were very respectful of the safety with ever and still let you do a couple laps each night. Bummer but good they care about the safety of everyone with the cars. . Seeing this in person and hearing it is crazy definitely can’t wait for more with this car. Big congrats to you Rob. Un- forgettable memory for sure

Met rob at gridlife and it was my first time ever hearing about him but just seeing how much longer he would stay out to talk to fans made me one in an instant, he was so genuine and happy to answer any questions 💯💯

I really appreciate the ~10 minutes of minimally edited footage of this machine going around the track

Mahn I’m so glad this build is going smoothly. Been following since the start but only checking in every now and then and dude I’m more impatient than you are to see the final results. I was 14 when I first tuned in and I’m 20 now so seeing the progress your making is so nostalgic super happy for you and insanely excited for the years to come when it’s a finished build. Gg man 🤌🏻 honestly hats off to you rob!

Seeing you so happy being (basically) finished with your project has made me so incredibly excited to work on building my Miata’s engine, even if it’s not near as crazy as your build. Keep up the good content Rob, we need more people in the car community like you

Liked the video before it even started, I've been saving to watch this. I'm glad I waited for it with surround sound.
