I think you are my people, too. I love Lisa Eldridge, her make up videos of how to tweak your make up as you get older (including hooded eyes) were so helpful. I totally love Audrey Coyne and KarenBritChick too.

I look forward to your videos as they are so well thought out and purposeful of delivering a message your followers can take away as their own. What sets you aside from most creators is the sincerity that comes across with your delivery. When you speak it resonates of the research and time it took to put the video together, Audrey Coyne and you share this gift. I follow you, Audrey and Benita Larsson who lives intentionally and appeals to my inner Scandi! My beauty icons growing up ( and still are my favs) are Lauren Bacall, Dyan Cannon, Diane Keaton and Susan Sarandon. When I was in junior high school, my Uncle worked for United Airlines and he had a friend, Betty who was a Stewardess ( flight attendant came later lol) and I was obsessed with the heels, pencil skirts, tailored jackets and hats. Her make up and red hair was impeccable and I thought she was the most beautiful women ever!

A lot of similar people on my list as well, especially in the makeup category. I have really deep set eyes that are also slightly hooded, and Wayne's tutorials helped me a ton! Another one is Sinead at The Makeup Chair - bonus that she has a very calm voice and lives with a chronic condition very similar to myself. I also love Matilda on Video's videos as inspiration. Some of my skin care mentors have included Grounded Sage skincare (natural skincare!) and Beauty Within. I have to say that, honestly, I would consider you one of my beauty mentors. I just love your way of explaining things and your approach to yin-yang as a balance that is unique to everyone, while emphasizing that your style is up to you. Its such a positive and refreshing viewpoint. Thank you :)

Beautiful video! Makes me happy to listen and learn from your journey. 💕Especially on the emotional and spiritual mentors. Thank you for sharing this reflection. It's a very special experience to identify people whose joy for life and kindness is sort of intertwined with their personal styles and ways of tuning with life.

My college aged daughter mentors/ coaches young women with body dysmorphia with a national body image project. Your work, Elyssa, helps women to recognize and enhance their INHERENT assets. Much of the beauty industry depends upon individuals hurting/rejecting themselves with futile efforts to achieve someone else’s look. People be freed from the mythology of a “beauty ideal”.

I've never really stopped to think about who my beauty mentors are before. I think I'm still on the lookout, especially when it comes to hair and skincare, but I can think of a few KZbinrs who might qualify... Loepsie: She was one of the first KZbinrs I stumbled across who made me feel like maybe I could invest a bit more time and money into my hair and makeup without needing to change my personality or values. It's nice to watch her videos and see a lot of myself reflected back. Mariah Pattie: Her historybounding capsule wardrobe videos have given me so much inspiration for how to build my own unique wardrobe with a touch of historical inspiration. Cathy Hay: Gentle reminders to slow down, take care of myself, and be patient with the journey, whether that journey is a creative project or emotional healing. Robin Sealark: Because of her, I've learned so much about myself as a visual artist, which feels inextricably tied to how I approach my personal style. Oh, and you, obviously.

I think you should forget dark clothes, dresses, jeans, heavy/well-groomed, too curly/flat, too long hairstyles and dark nails. You need colors and playful patterned clothes, because your have natural, simple, youthful, happy, kind, easy-going and countrygirl essence.

I think you may also love Alyssa Beltempo for fashion. She is so lovely and I just love her--classic, sustainable fashion. @msbeltemp she has a KZbin channel as well. Another fashion spirit is Christie Ressel @christieressel. I've always been afraid of color in my wardrobe, but she does it so well and has opened my world up in a colorful way. Thank you so much! Another beautiful and inspiring video Elyssa! I laughed seeing so many of the youtubers you mention I watch as well :) Love Lisa Eldridge. You might also enjoy Caroline Barnes - very much alike those 2 kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHy4doxuZtGabc0 I've learned more about make up on youtube over the past year than I've learned in that last 50 years on my own. Being 66 means the "less is more" philosophy couldn't be more true. I've pulled away completely from eye liners, eye pencils and mascara (I just had cataract surgery last Friday so I won't be wearing ANY eye make up for a while :) ) I couldn't agree more that skin care (Gothamistra is the first skin care youtuber I started watching too! "Renee") is so rewarding. Fortunately I started diligently wearing SPF almost 40 years ago, having an aunt who was an ER nurse who also had a sun allergy (yes there is such a thing :) ) and urged me to always wear it. In those days (1980) I wore a 15 SPF to Mexico and no one believed I had gone south I was still so white - now I wouldn't go outside here in the north in the winter with less than a 50 on! The sun (or our diminishing ozone) has become more fierce and the need for sun protection has never been so vital. In the orient it has always been a mark of tremendous beauty to have clear WHITE skin - if a person doesn't like to wear SPF then they must embrace the parasol - in the future there will be successful businesses who specialize in "cool" parasols :)
