That one commenter saying “don’t drop the friend right away and communicate first” OP HAS communicated and Mary brushed her off every time!! I’m so sick of people letting their own personal experiences dictate how they see other people’s experiences. Also what’s with people who love “testing boundaries” people set boundaries for a reason!!

You test boundaries because you don't know where they lie. Because a firm boundary is a hard limit; it's a restriction that you know. But, when you don't know the boundary or the limit, you risk overstepping. OP's friend wasn't testing boundaries, she was straight up gaslighting. She wasn't crossing boundaries, she was just starting fires to prove that OP would put them out. OP provided excellent examples of testing boundaries.

The friend in that story didn't realize that in friendship, you also need to BE a friend to HAVE a friend. Repeatedly humiliating and gaslighting OP, going out of her way to tear down her confidence and self-trust? That's shit enemies do, not friends. She made it clear she's unworthy of trust by her behavior. Totally selfish, no respect for boundaries or value for OP's well-being/care for her. She needs therapy and as she is right now is not capable of friendship. Maybe that'll change if she works on herself.

In the first story, the friend was so out of line. That wasn't pushing boundaries that were lying, manipulating, & gaslighting. The friend needs therapy to deal with her issues & I'd distance myself from her if not end it & find a new friend. That second story . . . the first thing that jumped out at me is OP was in a 2yr relationship & his GF was 20. That means she was only 18 when they got together. OP is wondering why it's taken time for her to feel comfortable speaking up about their sex life she wasn't happy with? Maybe because she was only 18 when they started dating & maybe didn't know all that much. & He's 25 & still needs the training wheels to have sex? He must be a horrible partner. If all he is doing is matching the beat of the music that means he isn't paying attention to his partner or her needs & only getting off via the beat of the music.

Sometimes people need to make you feel small so they feel better. And that is not a dynamic you want to buy into.

So, I looked up the song in Story 2...and it triggered my anxiety like watching a horror movie. That is NOT a good song to get intimate to. And every single one of his partners endured it for 2 YEARS? Yeah, no. He's weird, and an AH.

ROTFLMFAO….. that song! Your description was PERFECT. I cried laughing so hard. After 2 years, he should have loosened up a little?

I've never giggled so much at one of these videos as I did at Mark describing Cbat. The more I listen to this song the more curious I get... I can see why it's now the number one viral song. NOT EVERYONE CAN HANDLE CBAT

When Mark read the title of the second story, I right away got war flashbacks as I've been following the story for so long. I've made jokes about it and my sister likes to send me memes and links to videos related to Cbat. That poor woman and the comments was just pure gold.

Hey Mark, native spanish speaker here, you did very well with the pronunciation, no need for embarassment :)

Love the sound effects Mark does to hum that CBAT thing. Really golden. 😁

#1 - Any relationship where someone is 'trying to test you' with negative impact on you is not a true relationship or friendship. Mary needs far more help than OP can give her and OP is wise to just slowly put distance between them until this shit stops.

"testing boundaries" You mean pushing against boundaries? Moving boundaries? Tearing then down? That is blatantly abusive.

Sweet Baby Tiny Jesus that is the song he's "thrusting" too?! I don't blame the damn girlfriend!! 🤣🤣

I don't think there is really such a thing as "unconditional love." or rather, maybe it's more like there's no such thing as "love that lasts no matter how shitty you are to others." every relationship has boundaries/points where one person can no longer love/care for the other. different relationships just have different limits

Right? It's like in a twisted way she's trying to justify her abuser. She really needs help.

I learned French for a Quebec trip. While my Québécois friend told me English is fine, they, their family, and people I met at restaurants and airports appreciated my attempt to learn. To lead a budding spanish speaking into sounding dumb is not cool.

Your reactions to the CBAT story made me look that tune to listen to out of curiosity - how bad can it be? OMG! How in the ever-loving HECK can anyone use THAT as a love making music? Even the comments for that tune is about this Reddit story. No wonder you cracked up so much Mark. ps. What other songs had the OP got on the 'love making playlist'? Insert other terrible songs (probably includes the bad Metalica/Lou Reed song - OP could even climax to the part "I am the table")

Story 1: OP needs to explain the difference between testing boundaries and being a toxic bully. Story 2: I spit my tea out laughing at this.

Must start with a big credit to Mark for doing such good impressions of how that song sounds in that crazy 2nd story. 1st story: OP's so called friend sounds to me like a victim that have found someone she can boost her self esteem on by bullying herself. Either way, it's not a mess OP can solve.
@carolroberts46142 жыл бұрын
I think Op should quietly distance herself from Mary! I don't think she's safe to be around.
@felicia84492 жыл бұрын
Friendships and relationships aren't unconditional and its toxic to think that way. It sets a standard to let someone be walked all over. Everyone has boundaries that when crossed there is no going back. Everyone has a breaking point of what they will and won't put up with.
