I got weirded out by that remark too. "Trying to feel at home." So it's normal to take your underwear off in front of company such as friends and family? Story 1: "She's just very unbothered and cool" You know who is bothered though? Your girlfriend. It's not her house, and honestly, if someone doesn't want to see another person straight up strip down in front of them in the _living room_ then they have every right to ask that person to change in their own room, even if they also don't own the place. It's just common courtesy and common decency. Don't even get me started on the other stuff, she's being rude, and brushing off your partner's blatant discomfort in favor of your "unbothered and cool" friend is also rude. Edit: "You ruined the only time I get with him" what do you mean "only time"? You smother him so often, I'm amazed he has breathing space. Edit 2: So it is Op's property. In that case, Op has every right to ask her to leave. She's being rude, smothering Op's boyfriend and keeping Op from spending time with him, and is now trying to get her kicked out from her own place. She's literally trying to take everything from Op, kick her out. "She has nowhere to go" tragic. maybe she should have thought about that huh. Edit 3: Imagine refusing to do the most basic things for your partner and then having a _literal_ temper tantrum because she won't cater to your poor wittle friend who got her fee fees hurt after being called out for being a shitty person. Why does he get to dictate your friends being over but then turns around and straight moves one of his into to _your_ house then whines and throws plates when you won't do what they want and want them to leave after blatantly disrespecting you?

that girl's behavior was 100% because she didn't know the owner of the apartment was op and not the boyfriend. As soon as it hit her who actually owned the roof she was sleeping under she stopped eating and locked herself up as she knew she was screwed. Also the comment about no latino ever finding themselves without a home is very real. Children, grandchildren, cousins, grandparents; we take care of everyone. We have told my mom's elderly aunt that if she needs somewhere to stay we can put a room together for her. The following comment about how a latino whose family doesn't want to take them in is a red flag is also super real, as the only option that comes to mind is a murderer or drug addict, and even then some will try to reach out.

There is a post about an heirloom, remember if it was a ring or necklace but whatever, they had a contract with it saying that if anything happened to the person marrying into the family of the heirloom they are loom needs to be returned. That should be for all heirlooms. Every heirloom should have that kind of contract saying that the person marrying into the family leaves because of divorce or death the heirloom returns to the family that it came from.

And THIS story is one of the ones I mean when I asked if some stories cause you to lose hope for humanity or if the good ones like this cause you to have more hope. These ones give me more hope than the bad ones take away. Cheers Mark

Holy Moley is right Mark! There is no way that changing in front of people can be associated with a ethnicity thing. The "homeless friend" used that excuse to make OP feel that she would be discriminating against or being racist towards her if OP said anything about the inappropriate behavior. They were definitely hooking up, rubbed it in OPs face, and was taking advantage of OP because they both needed a place to stay. I am glad OP realized what was going on before getting further invested in her horrible ex-boyfriend.

#2 - It is amazing that OP held onto that ring for so long, but even nicer that she returned it so ex could hand it down to one of his kids.

That ring story was beautiful. I can only imagine the engaged daughters reaction to getting such an amazing heirloom. It's wonderful that it will continue to pass down in the family.❤️💞💜✨

Story 1, one does not have to be Latina to know that was a bs excuse. I highly doubt that trashy behavior would be acceptable in any culture. The boyfriend was using OP for a free ride for him and his real girlfriend.

Story 1: “Lady please put your pants back on I’m binge watching gravity falls and don’t won’t it to be awkward” Nta Story 2: I would personally give the ring back

First story... (3:20) Kick them BOTH out! They can look for a place together and he can foot all the bills for the both of them! OP needs to get her house back! "We Latinos are like that..." How many times did she say that to OP? THEN accuses OP of being racist. JFC! One's race doesn't matter, if you have no class, you have no class! Un-classy people happen in EVERY race! I'm glad OP got her house back to herself. Second story: OP did the right thing, good for her.

Hey Mark, could you find some subreddits that do heartwarming and wholesome stories? I think it might be beneficial to students like myself going through midterms and finals. I feel like I'm about to rip my hair out from the stress.

Story 2: OP has a choice about the ring. She can do with it as she wishes as her ex broke the tradition by cheating on his wife and causing the divorce and creating the misery. If OP feels like she should give the ring to the girl simply because she wants to honor the ex's grandmother's wishes, then so be it. But she is not morally obligated. Heirlooms are never going to stay "within the family" unless one marries back into the family which all those blue bloods did. Heirlooms are singular in nature and thus will travel through time farther away from the original owner. OP doesn't need to give back the ring, nor does she have to keep it. She can even sell it at an antique auction for $$$ but please don't pawn it as that's almost like throwing it away. The ex screwed shit up by breaking the marriage apart and not pushing to get back the ring. If it meant so much to him he'd have asked for it back way back then.

That ring story was a true gem, I really feel for the op. I too fell in love and married too young, I was the 21 and he was 19. By the time we realized it we had a child and tried to force things to stay together. after 9 years we fell apart. Luckily we accept our own faults in this outcome and make peace for our son. Married or not we are family because of an amazing little human and holding hate or resentment over the issues we both contributed to is going to hurt him the most

Her suggesting that the boyfriend kick his girlfriend out was all you needed to know. She acted this way because she thought it was the boyfriends place. If she knew it was the girlfriends place from the get go she probably wouldn't have acted that way. Also the boyfriend was acting problematic. I agree with the commentors that he probably enjoyed the attention.
