Hey Ryan, nice video. Coltrane returned to the Miles Davis Quintet after spending 2 years with Thelonious Monk, with a newborn sting in his tail. You are right though, he definitely wasn't a sideman anymore. Very nice finds, especially the Hank Mobleys.

jeez I can't even believe how you found that Billie Holiday. Such an amazing album, from Strange Fruit to Body & Soul to Gee Baby, all classics, and the live format really adds to the performance

Sometimes I can’t fathom either😂 But you’re totally right the fact it’s live makes it that much better. Whenever I listen to it I can just feel the tension in the room knowing that the American Government was trying to do everything in their power to keep her from singing it.

Man I wish! My dad has around 500 or so classic rock records, he mainly collects CDs though no jazz surprisingly. I get it might be hard to believe that I have all these records in my collection but each of them were purchased by me with my money, I’ve been quite grateful for the amount of deals and opportunities I’ve had throughout the time I’ve been collecting. Hoping you get to cross off a lot of great albums on your wantlist!
