i absolutely love how you describe each record, and the simple way you approach music. What a breath of fresh air. Thanks for introducing me to a bunch new records. Keep making videos!

Hello Ryan 👋 I live in New Zealand. I'm in my sixties. It's great to see someone so young into Jazz. I have a large Jazz music collection. I own that Alice Coltrane album. My favorite Jazz musician is Chet Baker, i love his trumpet playing and his vocals. I had the joy of seeing Miles Davis in concert in the 1980s. It was around the time of his Tutu album release. His back up band were very funky. You are very passionate about your collecting. You are good at presenting your channel. Thanks from Carl.

You, sir, are a real collector. My congratulations on your dedication. Usually, when you show records I've almost always heard of the artist (and may have some of their work, even) but not the particular LP you show. There's much for me to look into. Thanks.

Big props on the collection. I need that Joe Henderson in Japan. Great to see a young guy going big on some great records.
You always show the most interesting records, and I'm no slouch when it comes to jazz. However, my jazz records only comprise about 10 percent of my entire collection, and that includes my Japanese jazz and fusion releases. Your knowledge and enthusiasm always comes through. Happy New Year!

Thanks! Hopefully this year I can branch out to fusion and Japanese jazz too, also happy New Years to you too!

Great stuff. I've recently discovered by coincidence that my favourite jazz albums seem to feature more or less the same line up. Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Hutcherson, Joe Henderson, Duke Pearson, Herbie Hancock. Favourite drummer is probably Max Roach.

Thanks! Great eclectic mix as well! On the sessions I can think of they definitely fit like pieces to a puzzle!

Have you heard Freddie Hubbard's trumpet playing? He's actually my favorite. But I really like Lee Morgan too. One of my favorite (swing-like) song are "One Of Those Things" on the "Cooker" album.
@amanandhismusic Жыл бұрын
Freddie Hubbard is also up there for me as well! It’s so hard to pick a favorite but I think Lee just has that style that fits best with my favorite era of jazz. The Cooker is quite good! Wish there were more albums with both Lee and Pepper Adams!

Peace man... nice shows. Impressive John Coltrane section. Prices on jazz have really shot up. Stay solid.

Hi, you have quite the discerning ear. I'm going to check out Mal Waldron. I recognize the name, as she played with Billie Holiday, so I'm going to take a deeper dive. Thanks for all you do. Johnny K.

Thanks! I’m sure you’ll love his work, he’s appeared on a lot of those classic prestige albums with Coltrane and Gene Ammons! His solo work really shines though especially his 70s and 80s work when he was overseas!

You have an old head on young shoulders, Ryan. Really enjoyed your video. I only have 'Blue Train' (70s reissue) among the tiles you showed. It's hard to find such originals here in the UK. Are you familiar with Dan The Jazz Shepherd's channel?

Hi Ryan, excellent finds, most of these are still on my want list. I also picked up an OG copy of Sonny Rollins Plus 4 in g+ condition (took a chance) but contrary to what you said, mine is noisy as all hell, maybe it's one of those recycled vinyl copies....
@amanandhismusic Жыл бұрын
Thanks David! Some of my NYC pressings for prestige can sometimes sound amazing and other times they sound horrible. If it’s on recycled vinyl though there won’t be a Deep Groove. Happy New Year!🎉

Nice collection though for the monies you’ve spent you could have gotten a solid modern jazz collection. This way you can see the actual artists, not to say buy some from the past. There are so many out there, great artists, you can get in the $10 - $20 range, hunt more places.
@amanandhismusic Жыл бұрын
Although I like modern jazz I favor the golden era more! These were only my top 12 records I had gotten this year so they were bound to be more expensive and rare than many others I picked up throughout the year. Where I live there’s not many places to hunt for records so I mainly purchase records off of discogs and eBay.
