My BEST Watercolor Secret Revealed

Very pretty, but I thought you might want to warn your viewers, especially newbies to gouache, that you never really want to put gouache paint onto your watercolor palette because if it gets into your watercolor paints it easily contaminates them, affecting their transparency. You can then waste a lot of paint trying to get the gouache out of your other watercolors. For example, if you've ever watched a Jean Haines video, she puts her gouache out onto a bit of separate paper, or you can use another little dish beside your palette. Then be careful not to dip back into a watercolor pan with a brush that has gouache on it. Use a separate brush to get more of the watercolor and then add it to your gouache mix.

Yes I do watercolor too but I use my old dried up gauche set. I use it just like watercolor but sometimes I use the opacity to my advantage

Not if you have enough color mixed. If you find your seeing some marks try to paint it all while its wet.

You mentioned that if your gouache dries, you should always be able to wet it to reactivate it, but I recently found out this isn't true. I had bought an acrylic gouache from Holbein and it does not reactivate and got stuck to my palette - lessons learned!

I thought I had an entire set of gouache colors, but it turns out that what I have are acrylics....rats. Can I still put them to use them in a similar capacity with watercolors? I mean, dilute them with water and combine the effects? I never seem to have the supplies I want when I want them, either I don't have that color (for instance, opera rose) or I don't have something really important, meanwhile, my husband is like "So where are these watercolor paintings?
