I’ll get FRR done then we’ll get to it! Max is putting out some great power at the moment, especially that alpe ride the other day

I join other comments in saying this is definitely a B cat effort that you pulled here 😁 But hey congrats, and if Zwift says you're C, then keep racing in C ! It's more fun being at the front.
@notpogi8 ай бұрын
Thanks 😊 I do think the categories need looking at (and I think Zwift are doing this) because there’s a massive gap at both ends of B and C categories 👍🏻

Thanks Phil 👍🏻 hope you’re well and had a super Christmas! I’m really looking forward to FRR, courses look great and happy with the small tweaks they’ve made to the rules. Hope to see you there, and have a great NYE too matey 👍🏻

A 3.5wkg for 20min is in my book a cat b rider. You'll just suffer in the b category but hey... It is what is. I know because I'm a 3.7wkg for 20min guy and just suffer there.
@notpogi8 ай бұрын
I think back in the day anything over 3.2wkg for 20 minutes was cat B, but now the categories seem wider. If Zwift thought I was good enough for b then why didn’t I get auto upgraded after this race, I don’t get it? I wasn’t holding anything back in that race, I gave it my all. I have no probs being in cat B, would be good to know what the actual boundaries are now so there isn’t that ambiguity 👍🏻
@agspratt8 ай бұрын
20min power wkg isn’t the be all and end all and isn’t the main factor for your category it’s a combo of things. My wkg has been over 3.2 a number of times but what put me up to be was a big 5 min effort to chase down a break and win a race that took me up because my zmap went up which was the major contributor. Good race mate and congrats on the win. B is a killer in the pack but thankfully still managing to win the sprints
@notpogi8 ай бұрын
I completely agree! I did see that you’d been upgraded and that you’re still winning 🥇 you’ve got an unbeatable sprint!! Hope you’re all good matey and looking forward to seeing how you get on in the next ZRL series 👍🏻
@AndrewisTri-tn1uo8 ай бұрын
The only way to do it properly is to have promotions and demotions based on race results (like they do in the real world), and split the group of racers up so 90th percentile is Cat A, 30th is Cat B etc. You can't do it accurately just on power because racing isn't just about power, it's about 50 different things- some of which you can measure but most you can't. Just have to enjoy indoor racing for what it is, limitations and all. We always have strava segments and club racing if you wanna prove you can back it up outside.
@notpogi8 ай бұрын
I completely agree, apparently Zwift will be moving to results based categories in 2024 at some point which I welcome 👍🏻

Happy New Year Olly. Great video - good to see you notch a rare but convincing win, and really interesting watching the two of you act to pull away together. Structured training must help too!! (Except that it will ultimately push you up a Cat and you’ll be back to being in the chasing pack.)
@notpogi8 ай бұрын
Thanks A and HNY to you too! Definitely a rare win, took me a bit by surprise tbh!! Looking forward to being back in B keeping the rear of the pack warm 😛

Outstanding! I mean, I knew you were going to win, but I was yelling at the screen anyway😂. You have encouraged me to try some workouts this coming year. I've never done them because I've always focused on mileage but I think I can achieve a happy medium of both. What a great race! Congratulations, you earned it!
@notpogi8 ай бұрын
Thanks Linda 🙂🙂 I shouldn’t have given the ending away in the title lol 😂 I do love a group ride and a race now and then but for me the structured stuff (especially the vo2 max and threshold training) really does improves my fitness. I find them less enjoyable though that’s the only downside… Hope your Rapha 500 is going well 🙂 hope you have a great New Years!
@ZwiftingWithGranny8 ай бұрын
Yeah I'm a brat. The workouts are not fun. Zwift Academy was not fun. I finished the academy series because it was a challenge. I think the last workout I did on my own was maybe four years ago. I'm going to incorporate more because it clearly makes a difference and you have inspired me to do so. Thanks Ollie!

Congrats. And little note... You didn't use the PowerUp in the correct way. The Van only works if you are behind someone. Riding alone has no effect ;)

Little tip, try to have a bigger cadance during races. You can save lots of energy
@notpogi8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tip 👍🏻 I have tried a bigger gear before and it definitely saves energy, I find my HR tends to be lower also. Normally good for me when doing a hill climb, I find around 78-82 works ok but will play about with it 👍🏻
