I always think if a child hands it's father a piece of paper with a purple and blue splodge on it and says "look daddy I painted you" he would proudly display it on his fridge, the Lord our Father would proudly display anything we have made for him because he loves us 😊

So encouraging, and a great reminder that we all “start” at a beginning. I had little true art experience, no paint or watercolor experience at all. It was your watercolor tutorials that helped me so much. Although they don’t turn out like yours 🤣, I give myself grace because I’m making progress and I really enjoy the process of painting and spending time in the Word. You are great Jenna. I came across your channel a month or so ago and was just mesmerized watching you create your pages in worship of the Lord. I was so inspired that I went out and bought me a journaling bible and started painting. I was so terrified to start but I did and I haven't stopped. I will say it also helps me to remember the scriptures better, also. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing with us your love of Jesus and the inspiration to try worshiping Him through art. Thank you so much for the encouragement! I'm still fairly new to Bible journaling, and I've found so many great tips on your channel. Love seeing the changes. I still think my first page is a total mess, but I've seen some changes in mine, too. Us non-painter folks can still use all kinds of other items. I love using traceables, stamps, stickers, washi, and stencils, and kits. Thanks to you, I've also started using tip-ins-- I can do art on one side and notes on the other. I also like using transparent elements like transparency sheets or vellum so I don't end up covering the text. I'm a scrapbooker, so I use those supplies as well as markers and inks. One thing I've realized is that this is far from a new art form. Believers have been creating illuminated Bible manuscripts and books of hours for CENTURIES as a form of worship and prayer. We're carrying on a great tradition, in our own beautifully imperfect way.

THANK YOU for this encouragement, Jenna! You have the MOST BEAUTIFUL hand lettering of all the Bible journalers I follow on KZbin, and it's good to see that you didn't start out that way, but it evolved over time and with practice. Right now, my Bible journal entries are more like "stick people," but I'm going to keep plugging along until I can be happy with my artwork and time spent in God's Word just as you are. Thank you for sharing this inspiration! I have purchased two journaling bibles from DaySpring and one ESV from Amazon with the intention of using watercolor. I have a fear of messing up that hinders my participation. I have an older one from Amazon that I have used colored pencils in on the predesigned pages. Its not as intimidating, like paint in the number concept. I need to take that leap and enjoy my artistic time creating in the Word.

How do you pick a page or verse 5o journal on?

Do you have a (some) favorite verse or passage? Read the verses around the verse to get the entire context of its meaning. Whatever stands out to you, meditate with the Lord over the message to see if He’s trying to give you a new perspective or if a particular part means more to you. Then work from there. I recently did a very simple drawing of a house & flowers near the verse “As for me and my house we will serve The Lord”. It was that simple, I read the entire chapter to see how much Joshua had grown & how far the people since the beginning of heading to the promised land had wavered from their belief in God and started worshiping god’s, little G. Nothing elaborate, but a reminder that I will only serve THE God and will continue to not only be faithful to Him, but to continue teaching my children God’s word and showing His love & grace.
