That was great. Next time you do one let's do it on zoom and I'll join ya. We can swap stories. I've been considering starting an actual weekly podcast.

Absolutely love this. Everyone makes mistakes, but everyone thinks in the life of KZbin there is no mistakes. Most people don’t have the courage to say it and many respect to you sir. Most people will give up working on cars, and you give good inspiration to others.

I just started getting into the mechanical aspect of cars, kind of trying to claw myself out of depression by pursuing something that allows me to solve problems I can put my hands on. Thank you for this video, gives me a lot of perspective. Failure is absolutely a path towards mastery, but you need humility for it to stick.

Depression isn't a fun place to be. I have been struggling with it myself for the last 2 years and finally started climbing out of it a few months ago. Having an outlet to keep you busy definitely helps. Any type of hobby that keeps your mind busy! Wishing you the best!

@@StreetInspired1 yeah man, I'm over that 'cant care about anything' hump. Talking about things helps. You provide a great platform for learning wrt cars, greatly appreciated.

@@geraldboylan5635 sometimes you need a bit of help to drag yourself out, I'm just happy to be interested in something. Bought my TR a couple of weeks ago, have ~4k in mods and wheels that I'll be installing after I'm confident the car isn't a lemon. This is the first time I've purchased a car for only myself and I love that aspect of the WRX allows for individual expression. It's still a sedan so I don't feel completely irresponsible. Plan is 95% function and 5% RICE :)

Dang they was some big fails for sure lol. It's great that you're open to sharing them! Did you have any background on mechanics back when you started your first eclipse build? That was some truly legit stuff you were doing back then to have been all self taught!
@StreetInspired1

The Eclipse build on my channel was only a few years ago. So I had probably 7 years experience by then and that was actually the 9th Eclipse I owned so I learned my way around them very well before that build haha

Heartbreaking some of these honestly. But live and learn. I put an exhaust on my car for the first time following some helpful youtube tutorials and the manual and it went on OK. but TBH we got the OEM exhaust off and I was shaking in my boots the whole time lol. But it has held together so far thank god.

The first couple of times you start taking cars apart is the scariest. And it gets easier. It used to scare me to go any further than a simple 30 minute job. And now my last wrx the transmission went out and I had the entire transmission and drivetrain removed in one evening. It feels so rewarding when you get to that point.

I won't lie, there were lots of times where I pulled something apart, and something went wrong, and I didn't have a car for work in the morning. That is definitely a risk of having one vehicle to tinker with.

Absolutely legit. The smallest things can turn out huge. Sometimes we think we know and are forgetting the easy stuff. One time I was replacing the intercooler y on a 04 WRX with silicone. I struggled for like an hour to get it on. My woman at the time made a comment about lubing it. I blew it off and sent her on her way out of my own frustration. Sitting there thinking about it, I realized I was an idiot. Licked my finger, ran it around the silicone and it slid on in two seconds. Then I went and apologized for being a know it all asshole. 🤣

I've been in that same scenario before! I eventually got to the point where when I start getting angry, I'll walk away, get food or something and come back to it and almost always instantly figure it out. It's like our judgment gets so clouded when we're in the heat of the moment like that haha.
