Jimmi, with regards to torx bolts. It's because rotor bolts have to have shallow heads in order to clear the fork leg or dropout when mounted. A head this shallow would not work as an allen key and would round out quickly - Hence torx fittings.

I just came back from bikepacking in Spain two weeks ago, also started from Alicante. But i rode south along the coast to malaga. Did 1250 km in 8 Days (+2 Days of rest in between). Realy nice roads and weather was also great. The only negative thing are the traffic habbits in spain, a lot of roundabouts with weird rules and speed-bumps. But beside this, i would recommend spain! especially in autumn, when the weather in the rest of europe is not that great anymore.
@jambo25023 жыл бұрын
Roundabouts are only an issue because Spanish people seem allergic to using their indicators.

Love Jimmy’s frame pump-I thought I was the only person who used one of those……mind you mine came with a Raleigh Hybrid I bought in 1992 and which now lives on my gravel bike because it fits. It’s not as posh looking as Jimmy’s-but it works just the same-I still carry a CO2 inflator-don’t know why, I just do…..

Less is more in Spain, far too many places to stay for very good rates as well as washing machines in laundry in the street that are cleaner than operating theatres in the UK. Took one set of bike clothes and one set of night clothes, great food every single day, coffee of the finest in the world, people of each region competing to be the nicest, and car drivers that actually care about pedestrians and cyclists everywhere. There is nothing to not like in Spain. A bit of Spanish helps and google translate in many villages will help at the rest. Northern Spain is super gorgeous and cooler too.

Brilliant. Here in Donegal the question is.. which rain top,full overshoes or toe covers and can I get away with just neoprene gloves,or shall I wear liners too. Enjoy.. Makes me laugh when pumps enter the discussion. Not too long ago everyone used frame fit pumps,cheap as chips..then mini pumps,which are OK on the road if you get a decent one,cheap ones useless. Now frame fit pumps being re-introduced as a ‘luxury’ costly item at an obscene price. Glad I still have my Silca frame fit pump and ‘Campag’ adapter from the 1970’s.

Out of interest, What sort of normal human shoes do you use when bikepacking? I guess I'm somewhat unfortunate when it comes to bike-packing, as a tall person, because all my stuff takes up a lot more space... My regular human shoes would take up most of the space in my tailfin. I usually end up strapping some barefoot shoes to the outside of the tailfin as they have a minimal profile but having had achilles issues, these are not ideal.
@Cade_Media3 жыл бұрын
just normal trainers for me, they are quite flat though and squash down in the bottom of the aeropack - could do sliders if you were short on space and strap them to the outside because it won't matter if sliders get wet 🤔
@Cade_Media3 жыл бұрын
downside is you'd have to walk around in sliders all the time...
