I remember watching the original when I was a kid and all I could remember about it was the costume and the scene in the laundromat. It packed a punch. A small budget, gritty punch. I was at theater for the remake the opening weekend and while it wasn't great, I did enjoy it. I went in and got what I expected. That being said...I've not rewatched it but MAYBE once and I think it was because it was on tv. I've never had a pull to go rewatch it. Also though, can we give it up for the theme song of the movie. The Ballad of Harry Warden. I love that song.

Remake all the way for me. Loved the version of the final girl here. The love triangle worked more for me. And I liked the twist of it not being Axe lbut Tom.

I'm conflicted probably because of nostalgia for the remake lol but. I def agree with you on how rich the characters were, the original kills, and the ending of the OG! I also love the whole lore of the killer and the implications of hosting a valentine's dance/celebrating it since it creates a sense of a close community and the vibes of a small town. I do love the kills In the remake tho and set pieces like the market scene. I think what fucked the killer reveal up for me in the first one was the fact that Alex "fell" in the water and they quickly brushed it off LMAO

I Prefer The Original Bloody Valentine Just For How More Mysterious, Eerie & Creepy It Was With Elements Of Great Acting & Weirdness In The Mix. The Remake Had One Or Two Great Elements/Aspects About The Film, But The Movie Overall Just Didn't Do It For Me For The Most Part. The Gore Was Fine But I Was Expecting A More Better Story To Compliment The Entire Remake As A Whole, The 3D & Overdoes Of CG For The Gore Was Unnecessary Because The Whole Thing Felt Very Cartoo-Nish. The Nudity As Well, There Wasn't A Need For That Either. So Yeah, Def The Original I Prefer. I Love Quality Over Quantity LOVE The Comfy Vibes Today Because For Me Where I Am It Is Unforgivably Cold😂

YESSSSS THIS COMPARISON was everything !!! I totally agree with everything you said ! The OG is way superior since it takes a more serious tone and finally a horror not following teenagers. Maybe our thoughts would have changed on the remake if we had watched it when it came out cause I know a few people from our generation being so scared. I think a remake that would win on your next comparison would be PROM NIGHT or WHEN A STRANGER CALLS

I’ve only seen a censored version of 3d that was on Netflix not only was the nudity gone, so were all the kills, it just cut away from all of them. So I missed out on one of the 2 good things in it. Good times.

I tried to take a date to go see the remake of Friday the 13th and it was sold out, saw this instant, it was so cheesy but the whole theater was making fun of it, screaming out load at certain things but it was a great time.

The remake sounds like almost every other horror movie remake of the early 2000s. It's a modern version of the original but insanely brutal and with much more nudity. I have to admit that those remakes are often still fun to watch but I mostly prefer the originals over the remakes.

Just watched the original a few months ago, and I enjoyed it much more than I expected to going in. It's a classic slasher that holds up really well. I don't remember too much about the remake (which I saw shortly after release), but the 3D seemed overly gimmicky and it wasn't too memorable overall. I'll need to re-watch it to see if my opinion has changed. Great video, and I hope that you had a Happy Valentine's Day!

Hi, love your reviews :) Just wanted to point out a pho-pa you made when talking about having watched the theatrical vs. the Uncut (directors cut, extended cut, etc.) and how there's not much difference other than more "Blood'N Boobs", case in point: Rise: Blood Hunter (2007) The "R" rated version is the one to watch, because even though there's 1/2 hour more, the "Unrated" version is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FILM, and I mean COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FILM (and NOT in a good way). For instance, the cop's daughter's scene (you know, the one that pretty much got everything going, is now gone. One of the most, if not THE most important scenes in the whole movie, has been eliminated, and instead, we are left with a plot about the missing cop's daughter, coming in, seemingly out of nowhere. It's kind of like, if they made an "Unrated" version of the Jurassic Park movie, where we're suddenly following the computer security/nephew (the one who complains about not getting paid enough, screws up the islands security, steals frozen dino embryos, only to get taken out by dinosaurs on his way to make the drop) and all the other characters don't really seem to matter anymore. It's totally akin to the, Justice League, original vs. the Snyder cut, only this time, the R rated cut IS the Snyder cut (just shorter and WAY better). It's a film I think you'd get a kick out of, with Lucy Lu fighting vampires, and you could actually do a side by side comparison of both versions (but please, watch the 93 min. theatrical cut first) as both versions are available on DVD.
