The lyrics may include: "Taxes are vain Your country is lame Uh huh, uh huh" Preferably some break-dancing, but wearing a hoodie with sun glasses would do it. I dunno, something about freedom, taxes, lifestyle, giving up US citizenship, avoiding the haters, and dodging pandemics like a pro.

Gorgeous home! Folks in Bogota in particular tend to be far more reserved than Colombians in Medellin and Popoyan, but I find them to be extremely sincere! Also, agree about the malls. I find them to be more family and child focused than most malls back in the USA, but it's a nice community feel.

Experiencing additional tours would be highly beneficial. Observing an individual's collection of properties firsthand, along with understanding their selection criteria, offers a more engaging and informative experience than merely discussing them without any visual context. Being physically present at these locations for explanations greatly enhances the understanding and appreciation of their value.

Correct me if I’m wrong but Colombia doesn’t have a double tax treaty with the USA, in other words your income in the US has to be reported in Colombia and taxes paid accordingly, double taxed, first by the US and then by Colombia. That’s one of the reasons I let my resident visa expire. They have treaties with other countries but essentially your worldwide income is subject to double taxation unless the countries in which you earn income is listed with Colombias DTT. (Double Tax Treaty)

Thanks for the tour of your lovely Bogota home. Nice that you talked about day-to-day life. I recently visited Manta Ec. and looked at real estate there. The agents were wonderful and took us around to everyday places like the grocery store and the pharmacy, etc., and talked about how reasonable it was to hire folks and to live there, even though Ec. is having problems related to crime and political stability........I've only been to Bogota once but I really liked it.

I'm relocating to Ecuador in 6 weeks from Nashville, TN !! Are u considering relocation to Ecuador? Did u see any other cities? I'm gonna start w Cuenca but interested in several small towns...
@stedmays27689 ай бұрын
@@msbeecee1 I am no expert on Ec. but I have been talking to a lot of folks about it and doing research. I only spent time in Manta, which has some contemporary style high-rise condo stock I like, sort of a mini Miami beach. In brief, folks there are hopeful that the tumult will stabilize eventually --- specifically for Manta, it's a port town that is valuable to many interests----nice but in terms of Ecuador prices, I'm told it's relatively expensive even though living expenses and services and hiring folks to do things, is relatively affordable. Will condo/home prices continue to soften there, who knows? ..........I'm still sort of scratching my head and talking to people and weighing options such as dual citizenship and taxes there contrasted to other places, etc. Obviously, NOMAD CAPITALIST staff would have thoughts on the subject --- and there's an expat with a couple of places in Ecuador who shares his thoughts on a youtube channel, FALL OFF THE MAP. Good luck to you!!! It sounds like you're in a more advanced place than I am on your journey to checking it out.

@stedmays2768 thx for the reply. Yes I'm basically in process of pulling trigger! One thing that makes Ecuador stand out from other countries is they have 14-mo CD's that pay 9.14%. U can get good info in that from Grumpy Gringo channel. If u haven't yet picked country, highly recommend Nomad Capitalist channel. He's amazing & discusses worldwide options. Every day that goes by, I'm more confident in my choice & happy to leave USA. Recent shootings at Lakewood Church in Houston (I've actually attended there before) and Super Bowl parade certainly underline my feeling that almost anywhere is better than USA. Ecuador violence is gang on gang but USA is citizen on citizen in our "safest" places. I'm excited to check out Manta, Vilcabamba & Cotacachi in Ecuador. FYI: -Grumpy Old Gringo & GM Ace have YT channels on Manta, specifically. -Amelia & JP old vids are fantastic on EC as a whole. -Abundant Living channel is fantastic on Vilcabamba/Loja area and real-estate -Flynns on the Fly for Catacochi & beach town
