Great story. I've had to work under a curmudgeon myself and it was gratifying to finally be recognised and compensated ($30,000 bonus) for my work. Also, my clients were in 4 different time zones.

Is this story from 1950? This will never happened if you have a membership in a union! Is there more places than US there someone can tell you to leave your work instantly? You should have 1 month och 3 month notice! Thought it only could happens in old american movies! At an age of 30, you should know who can fire you, and who can t at your job! About too much work and overtime. You are not aloud to work like this, as a member of a union, and the company had to pay hard fee, if they demand you to. NO ONE should ever be bullied at their work. If you do, you take it to your HR, or your union. Always make good friends inside work or at outside. Oh, sweet young working girls and boys, I wish I can give you lessons thru your lifes, but you had to learn the hard way as we all do! But listen to your parents, and talk about things with them. They have been there! Reflections from a retired old woman without own children.😊

This is me working at COLAS South Africa. I was the only one that could do my work and I was an excellent employee extremely neat on my work and worked with perfection and always received a 14th chq every year. So I could never get long leave with my family. Loved the people but my HOD was a nervous wreck always and always needed me by her side. When I left they hired an additional 4 people for the department as the work was to much. So I did the work of 4 people.

I refused, I told him that I had already found another job.. Only three employees replaced me. A little later I heard that he had lost his job.I ended up working for 18 years ended up as a manager.😊

I've had two new/incoming bosses in my career who obviously came in with an agenda and didn't even bother to get to know what people's skills were and their value, both eventually got burned by the fact they essentially drove me out the door, ignoring all my attempts to advise/improve things. I got some good laughs after the fact hearing how exactly what I knew would happen, and tried to warn them/fix, happened eventually.

Some people can't push away that it had been their responsibility before and therefor accept blame that isn't there. This Michael was clearly jealous of the good work Brandon was doing and thought it was easy as Brandon always finished his work on time, but clearly never fully realized what the amount of overtime Brandon put in it. Some people are blind like that. This Michael was an idiot and lucky got fired for it as the boss was a smart one. This is sadly not always the case in big companies.

Back in the 1990's I was the protege to the file clerk in the legal department. When she retired the filing system fell on my shoulders. I worked 6 days a week with Sundays off. When I went on a two-week vacation, the paperwork in the legal department came to almost a standstill. That was when the boss and I learned of my value.

Does AI know about such things as vacation? Days off? Evidently as well Mr. Johnson is a president who has no clue how to run a company. Oh yeah let's put toxic managers in so we can get sued due to his actions. Go team! This story was so bad it is laughable.

We all need some comfort & support from family or friends/colleagues etc at any age, through out life there are difficulties which we have to deal with, which are demanding & draining & require energy from more than one person to get through. Sometimes we just need another person to talk things through with in order to fully understand the situation & clarify what the options are. Sometimes we need some information, or other views to compare or contrast with our own in order to get the full picture or grasp some new ideas. A positive working environment encourages good connections in which people will support each other. A negative working environment, based on toxic criticism & bullying will not be good for employee health or the health of the business as a whole.

It's obviously complete fiction. As a writer myself one of the huge glaring faults is that every word is "on the nose". Every character says exactly what they are thinking. No one talks, or writes, like this. It's garbage. And a almost universal element of these stories is the protagonist is always meek, selfless, placid and just accepts all the abuse and insults, before ultimately turning the tables and getting their revenge.
