Ronaldo is a legend and one of the goats but messi "is" the goat. Messi can do everything he is a playmaker, a goal scorer, a midfielder, winger, and forward all in one player he can do everything. Ronaldo is strictly a forward/winger Ronaldo cant drop deep into midfield and create for his team he has to sit near or inside the box to be effective. Messi doubles ronaldos numbers in chances created, dribbles completed, key passes all while keeping up with ronaldo in goal scoring even surpassing him sometimes.

Do it man!! you and you're bro are cool, I love Basket ball but my first love is Football (soccer) , the flow of the game in terms of passing and moving and dribbling is very similar, I have always seen the similarities, I also think the best future US footballers(soccer players), will be kids who play both Basketball and Football from a young age. I really think the pressing from the Defence, and the movement when you have possession of the ball are almost the same in both sports, and have the same tactical principals, also the fouls in upper body in Football are similar to Basket ball (obviously the feet is different). You also get "Power Forwards" like in Basket ball, people who play with their back to goal (rim in Basket ball) and back into defenders and turn and shoot. They tend to be tall and powerful strong and good in the air, examples, Ibrahimovic, Batistuta, and Drogba, these guys are the great "power forwards" of Football(soccer) In football this Position is sometimes called "Big Man Forward" or "Battering Ram Forward". It tends to work well with lots of wide play and crossing or central balls into the Forwards feet. Messi and Suarez are the Opposite of this and all about agility speed and fine touches, Sometimes A little guy will get teamed up with a Big man, and the Little guy "peels off" or runs off the "Big Man/Power Forward", this can be very effective and create lots of different goals, gives aerial and dribbling threat in attack. People like Xavi and Pirlo are the "point Guards" or in Football (soccer) Central midfielders, or Playmaker Mid, (not all center mids are play makers, some are defensive and/or ball carriers) Centers would be like the Central defenders (sometimes "Center Backs") in Football (soccer) and maybe the Defensive central Mid players (sometimes called "DM's" or "Holding Players") Small Forwards I guess would be the Attacking Midfielders or Playmaker forwards, more agile and all round than the big Forwards but also capable of scoring passing, bringing others into play (some of these guys might be more like "Shooting Guards" in that they play both attack and defence)

I think it's important to remember what the status quo is. Normally you have say, a top forward in every top team. They all more or less get their seasons. One has a better season than the other on occasion. Who was the best in the early 2000's? Ronaldo? Henry? Eto'o? Raul? Nistrooy? None of these are a bad choice, some years some of these undoubtantly were, but never consistant. The most talented here would maybe be Ronaldo. But while he stood above them for a few years he was NOT a fucking cheatcode. But C. Ronaldo at 36 is the second highest scorer since 2020. Messi is still a beast at 34. These 2 have been doing it for over 15 years and for at least 10 of those they weren't just "better" like we were used to. They smashed it. Having 2 top guys isn't unusual. But both now at their age have declined dramatically yet they're still competing with the best. These 2 were truly fucking absurd. Messi imo is the better player in isolation. But when you need a goal in an important game I think C. Ronaldo is the better one to gett that clutch goal. Again, even this year he just keeps doing it. It's not surprising to anyone to see C. Ronaldo get a 90 minute goal to get his team to win. It comes to the point were you are surprised when he does not do it.

Ronaldo gets a lot of those goals because he camps his ass in the box and waits for the delivery. He's the best in the world at that IMO, he's always in the right place at the right time, but more often than not, somebody else has to create that chance for him, especially now in his older days. The difference for me is that so often Messi will create the goal from nothing either with a dribble, assist, through ball, or scoring himself. To me Ronaldo is without question one of the best goalscorers of all time, but as an overall player, he can't compete with Messi.

As you may know, soccer is an 11 vs 11 sport and the ability of each player is important but there are many factors that the high light does not show such as placement in the pitch, the defensive involvement of each player and intensity. There are very technical players like Neymar but they are not good at making decisions as a team. The difference between Messi among the other players in addition to his technique is his ability to create spaces for other players on his teams that make them have enough time to make good decisions and he also has defensive involvement in his team strategy. He is the brain of the game to the point that opposing teams change the tactical approach only to stop him! 🤣 🤣 We are lucky to have been born in the same era as this guy who has been able to play at the highest level for more than 8 years!
