To be fair when I built my BOB I had all of the standard junk. Not trying to be critical. When I sat down and really thought about it I completely changed my bag. Now my bag consists of 90% food. The remaining part of the bag it shelter extra socks and a few of the standard fire kits etc. Of course there is no correct bag. You build it based on knowing your skills and your environment. I live in London. Waters not a problem, shelter can be made, food is the one thing you don't wanna take a chance on.

Add a candle. They have variations but a 12 or 36 hour. Also get a cheap clear shower curtain and or large contractor bags. Add some toilet paper.

good start to a b.o.b. get a folding saw or equivalent for shelter/fire. the sog tomahawk is more of a defense tool than wood processing. put together a fire starting kit and get the items you listed soon you never know when you might need to grab your bag and go.

Hey brother, I would add a couple pairs of hi quality socks they are a must for multiple purpose item. I know from military field experience they are worth their weight in gold. You can makeshift a Pouch, filter water make coffee in, firestarter, bandages, tourniquet, wash rag, cut them into cordage, and to cover hands and feet to keep warm etc. If your feet get wet or on a hard double time march the feet friction can cause blister's and blisters can = infection. Happy feet makes a better soldier and survivor. I always carry 2 large shemagh scarfs or 42"X42" Bandanas one bright color and one dark colored. Again multiple use item. Head rag, sweat band, tie cord, bandage, filter waters, pouch, tourniquet, light cover, signal with bright colors and a dust face mask etc. Special forces carry a bandana and a small pouch or bottle of apply cinder vinegar in a plastic sandwich bag for protection from radiation fallout or chemical attacks. open vinegar in bag and soak bandana in and wear as a dust mask to jeep out contaminates. A 100 ft roll of #38 Bank line or 50' of paracord. You have a decent survival bag and your off to good start! Keep up the good work and Semper Fi!

The leather gloves is a good idea where you can get to them fast. Yes sire the night vision is great! Yes black plastic garbage bags are good for a lot of stuff it with leaves or what ever you can find to sleep on to keep your body off the ground, the uses are endless put some rat traps maybe you will catch some squeals or a small rodent that has a little protein you can use bank line just as food a radio have some ear phones so it's just you that can hear just in case you are being stealthy. That's what I need to do is write phone numbers down. Maybe a small fishing kit I live by lots of water so I keep some hooks and fishing line that's it you can use your walking stick make shire when you make a walking stick it can do multiple things with it I seen some great one's that have been hollowed out to store stuff in it and used as a weapon hold stuff up off the ground and can be made into a fishing pole and can be unscrewed to fit in a small pool stick case to attach to your bag, they have many videos why people have walking sticks for long distance hiking

Great start. Do you have a flash mirror, survival poncho? SOL makes some good ones. Get 1 EMT shears to add to your first aid kit, Also another small ulta lighwight pack by Homodox or whomever so if you are on the move and need to pack in some more stuff food, ammo or what ever you can fill it - it packs supper small and is only 6.8 oz It is nice to be able to fill another bag. Dont forget the IOSAT potassium Iodide Tablets. Do you have a small folding saw may a 7 or 8 inch one - they work great plus its a good weapon if needed. Just in case you get hurt you may need some crazy glue or "plastic surgery glue" and maybe some Quick Clot. If your tired and on the go you need some caffeine pills and or Ammonia Inhalants to wake you up and keep you on the go. Most all of this is on amazon. It seems you wear contacts - you need a pair of reading/seeing glasses for back up if you can not put in the contacts. For you tent have you tried 1x4m Bungee Round Elastic Shock Cord it is strong stretches and sometimes better than rope. In your car/truck keep a crow bar and some 18" bolt cutters - they may come in handy. Maybe since you are ham radio lic get a 2nd ham radio and put the 2nd radio in an EMP proof bag as back up. Hope that helps

James Lieb it helps very much. great insight! I always enjoy seeing what everyone else thinks. there is always somewhere you can improve that is why I reach out to you guys for comments. This is all a lesson for everyone. We never stop learning. thank you for all the ideas James. An EMP bag can you give me a link or name so I can look it up?

True we all never stop learning. Here is EMP/Faraday Bag 8"x8" www.ebay.com/itm/Tech-Protect-EMP-Faraday-Bag-8-x8-/201263372690?hash=item2edc3b5992:g:MIYAAOSwm8VUtHdy Here are some bolt cutters - just the right size - not to big or small and cheap at $12 www.harborfreight.com/18-in-bolt-cutters-60683.html just hope you never need them but in SHTF situation they would be good to have. Another good item for the car is this oil container you can put gas in - it is slim and you can lay it under the abandoned car's tank www.harborfreight.com/waste-oil-storage-container-97608.html punch a hole in the tank with this center punch and fill up this container www.harborfreight.com/automatic-center-punch-with-brass-handle-62141.html or you can use the container for just getting gas at the pay pump. Dont forget to buy a funnel.

i think a good set of locks picks are a much better option over bolt cutters, i'd also suggest you look at some youtube vids of fire kits, your lighter/ferro rod combo is a little anemic :) lastly you don't mention what environment you live in, but if it's urban get a sill-cock key for your water kit, if it's rural get an inline carbon filter to couple with your sawyer. nice vid, nice kit bro!

Thumb drive with your personal documents on it, a canteen or two to carry water and a hat to cover your head. I'd also add some more tissue or T.P., what you have won't last more then a day or two at the most.

Keith Simpson the thumb drive is a good idea that I still have yet to do. But I do keep hats and bottles and tp in my container in my truck where my bag is located. Thanks good thoughts

Great start and good ideas I really like the gaff tape had not heard of that will have to go find that one for myself, I would try to find a better knife possibly I have an experience with that identical knife my brother purchased and it broke the first night we were out camping it is the steel in the way that it's treated it is not quality and will not hold up too much abuse for a good budget blade with a good steel check out condor knives I have done reviews on several feel free to check them out they are great quality at a great price. Also maybe swap out one of the pots for a water bottle container that is made of steel or titanium. I would also have some redundancy in my fire making such as a fero Rod and matches in addition to your lighter. A good budget friendly option for goggles would be military surplus store or just get some inexpensive swimming goggles at the dollar store. I'm with you on the backpacking pack I have a similar one and do a lot of backpacking if I was leaving more long-term I would definitely pack all my gear and to my hiking backpack. Great video very well thought out keep it up👍🏾

Get rid of those cans. Too much weight. Good source of protein, yes, but it just adds to the weight you don't need. Get better utensils. Plastic may melt, break, and/or not last for multiple uses.

The night vision is a night owl brand optic. I got this a long time ago for x mas and dont know the model. I did search it not that long ago. and you can get a refurb for rather cheap. even if the collapse of society doesn't happen still a really sweet thing to play with. I have gotten Alot of use out of mine just game spotting.

www.amazon.com/Night-Owl-NOCX5-boasts-highest-g/dp/B00004THMU Here is a link to the optic. Mine is an NOCX5M. I believe the M stands for either marine or monocular. It has a waterproof value so i assume its marine.
