IT IS A HOBBY! I AGREE! It's like collecting stamps, but with patterns and fabric! lol! When you pause the video to go get a pen and notebook to add to the pattern wishlist! Thanks Sian, thank you very much. I think you should look into doing a new pattern every now again.....imagine all those pretty clothes! So many cool patterns, so little time :-/

I recognize Butterick B4513. I was going to make that dress out of a black outerspace print fabric until I realized that the fabric I had bought though it was a constellation print, it wasn't exactly the print I wanted. I am trying to destash the Star Wars constellation print fabric to someone who loves Star Wars and has a sewing machine and know how to sew. I also have that exact walkaway dress pattern in my stash. I have bought the fabric and the relevant notions to complete the dress. I have heard and seen many videos regarding this dress. I have yet to make my iteration. I have not cut my fabric yet. I recognize Butterick B6582. I have definitely made that dress to my iteration. Though I had bought enough fabric to make the long pencil skirt version, I instead made the pencil skirt version as a mini skirt dress with the remaining fabric as a mini full skirt separate. I would wear the mini pencil skirt dress as is on day one. While the following day I would wear the full skirt over the pencil skirt. I have even made the bows🎀 detachable. Giving my dress more versatility. The dress is a fuchsia berry background with black florals. I still have this dress and the separate mini skirt. I need to drop twenty pounds in order to wear it again 😊.

Ummm, never seen a lined jean jacket pattern, B6390 just went on my list 😄. Not sure if you follow MimiG but she has a tiny waist and fuller hips and she looks STUNNING in pencil skirts. Now you may not want your skirts as form fitting, but you have similar shapes.

Buying fabric and patterns is definitely a separate hobby 😁 and buying gadgets in my case 😉 I have lots of patterns but I don't actually like using them ( like you, I always read the instructions) and when I do they are often tweaked so much nobody would recognise the original. I love the fact that everyone who sews does it slightly differently and finds their own aspects of sewing appealing (I like playing with my machines which doesn't always result in producing a garment). Love your video. Need to get some patterns 😁

I have made the B6130 jumpsuit twice ..both in satin backed crepe, first was purple and the second was cranberry and used the inside as the outside. I did hack it into a full cowl collar and they both look great!

Hi Sian. I would love to see you do just one pencil skirt or narrower skirt pattern. With your tiny waist I can’t imagine it wouldn’t look fabulous on you! That said, if you don’t feel comfortable in them then you shouldn’t force yourself. You have your own style that you like and looks great. Go with it! Thanks for sharing your pattern stash. My pattern wish list continues to grow...

I've had my eye on B6388 for some time but haven't bought the pattern yet...but after seeing what would be the perfect fabric for it last week, I think another shopping trip is necessary. As it's 28 here in Florida today, I doubt I will make it now but there's nothing wrong with adding to my stash..:) I think you would look fabulous in a pencil skirt. Love the idea of using left over fabric for linings-and doing do counts as using two fabrics from your stash.

Hi! After looking at all your patterns, you should make a list of what you want to make and the fabrics you will be using... it would be fun to see where you would start! Thank you again for sharing all your sewing... Christine

For Butterick 5748 i made the bow and then just safety pin it on the back when I want to use. Not the most glamours but I like being able to wear it both ways.

The Gertie wrap top comes up very short (and I don’t have a long body) just under my ribs- I found it very uncomfortable to wear with a skirt but it works well over a dress x

Looking through your pattern stash is great fun but it’s definitely turning into me filling up my pattern wishlist. And I already have way too many sewing plans. And I have to reorganise my pattern collection because my current setup is bursting at the seams. Sigh.

Great video Sian! You have an awesome Butterick pattern collection! I have Butterick 6129 and made it a few times (different hacks) and really like it. You mentioned B5209 (view A) was beautiful but didn’t have a back on it...have you seen B5850? It has similar lines but does have a back on it (not a halter). I think it would look beautiful on you! Can’t wait to see all the beautiful sewing planned for 2018!

Love seeing your patterns. Do you have recommendations for beginner sewists? Want to get back into it but don't want to start with something too challenging. Big hugs

Since I am into, "Steam Pun", I tend to collect, Victorian Patterns, Love them. I wish I knew, where to find more, of them, though. Just recently, I found, B6572, which I saw, some one, wearing, it during the Phoenix Comic-con a couple of years ago, and I just now, found it, and the other one is B6537. This one, I purchases two of the, I loved it, so much. I wish, I had more room, to sew at home.

Oh, I also changed both versions to use a zip down the back instead of at the side - much more user friendly..... Cathy

I'm not going lie, I did just go buy some of these butterick patterns *because* of this video (and also butterick is on sale). I mean I guess I can justify it. I mean we have the same shapes and they look amazing on you, so why not?

That requires, space, something, I do not have,.. as yet, when I get married, perhaps, then. I need to figure out how to store these things, with limited space, any ideas?

Is there any advice to a first time pattern user of butterick patterns?
@evonaagrochowski80066 жыл бұрын
A special request: I too collect Butterick patterns, and others, can you show how to store your patterns, and also, I make more of the Victorian costumes, in a plus size, while, I am working on getting back into shape, from my foot surgery,.. Can you show B6537 and how to make it? Please, it would be most helpful, and any tips on how to enlarge patterns, more then 2 inches? I am ok, with enlarging by 2 inches, any more then, tha, is a bit more difficult, I wonder, why?

Just to say, I can't remember where, but I saw someone do B6413 with a full skirt and it was lovely. Made me think twice on the pattern. I think it might have been on patternreview.com that I saw it or potentially in the McCall's facebook group.

Thank you 😊 It could have been Laura Mae from Lilacs and Lace, she has made a couple of them one with a full skirt which is what made me buy the pattern 😊
@AdirondackRuby6 жыл бұрын
Hhmm...looked her up and it wasn't her. So I guess a lot of people have that hack plan. But as you seem to be reconsidering, and as others are encouraging, maybe you should give pencil skirts/fitted skirts a shot. Personally, I think you'd look lovely.

Some one should do a video, of some kind on how to store, your patterns, that would be of value, including, if you have limited space, for storage,.. especially, that.
