Those asian sheers are totally for cutting raw meat. It's the colors. Cook tools have standardised color coding, red for beef, yellow for poultry and blue for seafood. It's also why they are the sizes they are.

Great tip about the knife blades inserted into a block of foam! A bit of a shame that small engineer ruler doesn't get used more often. How about sewing on a pocket or making the ruler into a necklace? There's an idea for a new video! 😀

Great video, it's time I made a cart, it frees up bench space, I'll have a soldering station in the top and a fly-lead for mains power.

My favourite ruler has to be a Morn Sun cutting ruler that I got in a kit with a thin and long cutting mat and a circular cutter that got pretty blunt pretty quickly. It's a big clear transparent plastic ruler but at the edge it has a stainless steel insert moulded right into it so you don't cut into the ruler. The insert is so thin, you can almost see right through it! But it actually works. Probably got it at Kabuco 15 years ago, they no longer carry the brand, must have gotten too expensive to source. Not being too fond of hot melt glue and the CA glue, I guess we have something in common; though UHU Strong&Safe is a modified CA gel and is seriously impressive, not runny, smelly or as brittle. I sometimes wear super cheap 2dptr reading glasses on top of my prescription glasses for fine work, I found they work better for me than specialised magnification tools. I don't need them often, but when I do super small stuff like modern fine pitch electronics, they are absolute life savers for those few minutes when you need to go in. Often things are so tiny I'd need to inspect them under a microscope again afterwards to make absolutely sure. If it was something done for visual purposes I probably don't even care about details that small, but electrons never forgive!

I like using a nice, soft art pencil like a 4H along with a kneaded eraser especially when marking wood and stuff. Way better than a crappy #2.

I Love your Channel! I am a NYC based Arch. Modelmaker and Industrial Designer You have some great old school tips and tricks. I teach ID for CUNY and my students are enjoying your channel. Thanks for sharing Can you give me the 3M number for the VHB? Is it double stick? I am a tape junkie and am always looking for the next great find. I normally use 3M9832 a lot, also do you use nichiban tape for taping painted surfaces? It's the best? If not get some. Gretel

Hi I have a question. I recently got into diy’s and have just been watching videos to get ideas and I really like the use of cardboard which works out great since in my family we somehow compile large amounts of cardboard. I also have been looking at foam boards. So I have looked into it but I get so confused because everybody has different opinions on the subject. My question is what would be the best way to glue cardboard to foam board that will last. Is it better to use an adhesive spray or glue? Like gorilla glue or elmers or super glue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Either way u just got another sub. Hope to learn some more from some of your videos

Long term...White glue should work long term, you can also look at something like a general purpose cement that has some give to flex and move over time, e6000 (although it will eat the foam) is good, gorilla glue make a clear general purpose glue that might work as well, I use it in my latest video for attaching 3D printed parts to MDF. Good luck

@PrDrSteve 4 жыл бұрын
Eric Strebel thanks for the reply I will probably go with the white glue and maybe I’ll buy the gorilla glue you mentioned and just try a little piece on the side to see how it works out. I’m a bit concerned since gorilla glue expands when it dries. But again thank you for your time
@EricStrebel

This clear stuff is different, it does not expand like the yellow stuff, see my most recent build on the vocal booth ventilation system to see the glue I am talking about

@@EricStrebel I just started building card stock models,I'm finding it very interesting just bought a antique photographic materials co.paper cutter off of eBay to restore and use for cutting straight parts and pieces,it does it fast and accurate,I just started on a tin woodsman so far it looks decent,I took a set of hole saws and removed the teeth and then spun them in a drill on the belt sander and they made perfect circle cutters in the drill press,I'm a disabled Machinist by the way,lol
