I'm not saying the band is bad, but "They went with chords that were unique and timeless", absolute bullshit, barely any chords are "Unique and timeless" because 99.999% of artists use the same fucking chords, if anything the chords MCR use are less "Timeless and unique" because complicated chords sound crap on distorted guitars, therefore generally only power chords are used, which aren't unique at all.

"Drummer Bob Bryar sustained second and third degree burns on the back of his legs while shooting the video, yet persisted in staying until the recording was finished. This burn later resulted in gangrene. Way tore muscles in his leg and foot when Frank Iero tackled him while he was in a kneeling position, leaving him in a hospital for several days. Way recalls that, during the filming, they were all "mortified" from the engulfing flames surrounding the set. After the stay in the hospital, the doctors refused to let them perform in San Diego as the band originally planned. Ray Toro fractured his fingers also during shooting and Bob Bryar received multiple blisters around his hand as a result of extreme playing over a long period of time. "

I remember when the dailymail called MCR a suicide cult but in retrospect, there is so much positivity in their music. Compare this to the vapid glorification of Xanax, drugs and suicide in certain hip hop subgenres at the moment, and it's apparent. There was a period around 2006 - 2007 when MCR was one of the most hated bands in the mainstream, but really they were just victims of their own success. I think history is going to be much kinder to them than the present was, their music is truly iconic.

I cannot overstate the sheer power of this song. In a whole album about death, about coming to grips with one's own mortality, this song that's titled "famous last words," with its chorus starting with the words "I am not afraid..." you would thing it's a line like "I am not afraid of dying," right? NO! He says "I am not afraid to keep on living!" And that, I think, is just such a more powerful message.

This song broke me. In June 2021, I lost my closest friend to a sudden heart failure. For two months I remained stoic, lost in shock from the loss and not sure how to process it. And then one night on the way home, this song came up on my music app and I listened to it on a whim. When that bridge hit, I....damn. Even thinking of it now tears me up. It was like they were in the car, singing along with me as we used to, and they'd finally turned to me and said it was time for them to go. I had to pull into a parking lot and I, a 30 year old man, just bawled for what seemed like hours. Rest in peace, Nick. Always and forever my dearest friend.

Because of this song I'm alive…this song motivated me to keep going no matter what. I learned to stop caring about if others care about me and learned to go through this world alone because in the end that's all you have. The only reason we get hurt is because we let other people to it to us but if you're alone no one can hurt you and you don't suffer. Yes friends are nice but we shouldn't get too dependent because people leave and if you give too much they'll take too much away from you. Don't be afraid to walk this world alone!

@charlomand3r10 жыл бұрын
TheIndieGamesNL Exactly…I said that friends are nice but we shouldn't get too dependent on them but still care about them. It's the whole thing with putting yourself first and make sure you're okay before making sure that others are okay. Surround yourself with as much positivity as possible and talk it out and don't be afraid to cut out toxic people even if it means that you're gonna end up alone…you learned something out of it and can use that when meeting new people and making new friends.

My newest favorite line of all time “I am not afraid to keep on living, I am not afraid to walk this world alone” I was scared to face things alone but this song completely just whams me In the chest. MCRX🖤

I know how you feel mate, and that line had the same effect on me. So long as we have MCR, we are all truly never alone.

It was a concept album and the entire album talked about death but the last song is Famous Last Words because they wanted everyone's take away to be that last line. While you might think about suicide you gotta keep on living and to not be afraid to walk this world alone. People thought they were glorifying death but really, for the people with depression they were able to put into words what they were feeling. At the end of the day it's an anti-suicide album. To get those suicidal thoughts released in a positive way and to keep going, keep fighting.

It's March 22nd killjoys, but please don't harass the band members about this. Just be glad that MCR happened, even if it couldn't last forever

@gracie I know, in a way I'm glad they broke up because now Bandit can have her father, and Gerard didnt go back to being an alcoholic. I hate how some people dont realize how they are humans who need to focus on their own lives. Besides, they've changed. I dont want them to get back together necessarily because people have this expectation for their music that they probably cant get to because of how they've changed over the years. I still love their solo music, the song that Frnk released yesterday is amazing. And I'm so proud of what Gerard has done too, the umbrella academy is fantastic and he has so many comics now too. We all knew that MCR wasnt going to last forever, so we should respect their wishes
