Holy shit. As a guitarist and drummer, those bass licks were amazing. Every time I see a bass player actually doing their own melodic fills instead of just playing the root notes I get so jealous and immediately wish I never sold my Ibanez.. You have me *scouring* Amazon right now for a new one 😅

Glad you enjoyed the cover! Harley Benton has the best affordable basses right now. The PB-20/PJ-4 are both solid, but if that's out of your budget then I would say the newer Glarry models are decent (GP Pro & GIB)

Those fills are insane! I'm now tempted to add the stripe to mine after seeing yours. Your tone is an absolute monster in this too.

Thanks! Yeah for $1500 you would think they would have put a racing stripe and a better bridge on this bass. Hope you’re enjoying your Tom Delonge Starcaster!

Great cover and tyty for including the tab! Btw did you add that racing stripe yourself?
@cirolautarosotelo37418 ай бұрын
Actually I think it's the Mikey Way Mustang Signature. He has two official models, one is a Squier with active pickups and the other a Fender Jazz Bass (both with the stripes)

Glad you enjoyed the cover! I did add the racing stripe myself, got a $10 sticker decal on Amazon

@@MyBassistChris nice idea! I got that newer bass too but was a bit disappointed that they got rid of the stripe. Keep up the great work btw, always means a lot to learn mcr songs through your videos!

Guys, is this easy for a beginner?
@MyBassistChris7 ай бұрын
The chord structure isn't too difficult for a beginning, but the fast alternate picking may be tricky as a beginner. If it's too fast I would recommend playing half the notes in verses (8th notes instead of 16th notes). Hope this helps and happy playing!

If this was intended to be a professional recording or him playing in a tribute band where the intent is to serve the song and be as faithful as you can to the original, I might agree. But this is a KZbin cover on his personal channel. The beauty of that is that he can do whatever the heck he wants without regard for the rules. We've seen a million faithful covers of this song of people chugging 16th notes following the guitar. Hell, Chris already had two before this😂. Him going crazy on the fills was exciting to watch and gave him something new to do as a musician if he was going to cover a third time.

@@QuanNguyen-kr6hz yea i get that, but it doesnt sound good. Im all for exploring and challenging yourself musically but i think this one was a miss. It is flashy and cool if it was a stand-alone track or in a less busy song it might have worked.
