My reason for not wanting kids is kind of similar to yours. I am a 41 year old male with autism. I work part time at Walmart, don’t drive, and still live with my parents. I would like to live on my own and get married one day but don’t want any children. Part of the reason why I don’t want children is because with my autism I am already struggling to take care of myself and raising a kid will be a lot for me with my autism. I always felt like my like was different from most people because I am special needs and have autism. I too would’ve like to do more things in life but not having children I am happy about since children are a lot of work and a lot of responsibility.

I struggle with a lot of autisme symptoms. But life has gotten better. I work part time and I am married. I have 6 beautiful guinea pigs. But I have also come to a place where I think a good life both can be with or without kids. I have a stabile life now. What is most important is to have a stable life and that you can manage having a kid. And choosing not to get a kid, thinking of the kid first, is the right choice. I hope you find tools to deal with your struggles better so you can get married and get your own place one day. Thank you for sharing.
