Washing, drying and caring for nappies would be helpful so you maintain softness and absorbancy. and when you say takes long time to dry rough idea. Plus how many would you need of nappies/covers, to do you to start off. Would you suggest starting straight out with newborn resuable or wait until 2-3 months as then it appears you get nappies that adjust mote therefore last longer and need less of them. Lol 101 questions Good to see u looking well hope u and family safe during lockdown

We started at 5 weeks with our oldest daughter and at birth with baby sister. Both worked equally well. Usually the newborn size only fit until 5 weeks and then you either have to size up or use one size. One size rarely fit from birth. You need about 24-30 for full time use. I wash every 2-3 days. Cold rinse, 60° wash and then another cold rinse. Has never failed me. We dry the inserts either in the tumble dryer or hang them outside in the summer. The covers are always hang dried.

The BumGenius AIO you said is a Flip is actually a Free time. The Flip is just a hybrid diaper cover that can be used with disposable or cloth inserts. I am in the US and have cloth diapered for 13 years. I really enjoyed your video!

You can do flour sack towels for covering microfiber or fold for the covers. Also dryer balls work great for drying time less.

Expecting my first in 2 weeks and so excited to cloth bum them 😊 I want to do it from birth so I have a selection of newborn and BTP sizes in various brands and fabrics. Mostly AIOs, AI2s and pockets as we didn’t think terries or fitted 2 parters would suit us personally.

Not sure if you can get them in UK but you should try peapods nappies. Really trim and absorbent. I really like ‘close pop in’ nappies as well. Double gusset with booster options 😊

Honestly, I have had two babies in cloth nappies now and our goto for both were flats/prefolds at the very beginning. With our first we also had Alvababy newborn diapers that fit great. With out second child I tried a variety of brands in nb size and while that was all fine we always found ourselves going back to the flats/prefolds. It's just do much easier to have a stack of flats and a couple of covers than constantly having to wash and dry all-in-one's or pocket diapers when newborns poop and pee almost nonstop.

I cloth diapered my daughter years ago she’ll be 11 in 2 days. Lol I tried all different kinds of diapers! If I had to do it all over again I would get all bumgenius one size pocket and elementals! They were my favorite. Instead of the microfiber inserts I used prefolds because I have medium hard water and the microfiber would get stinky quick! They were too big for newborns but fit until potty training!

As a mum from a long while ago when nappies were by default terry I found the ordinary square nappies were fine. Cheap, could be folded in various ways to suit needs and double up over night. I find the whole thing has now been over complicated and commercialised. A money extracting enterprise for middle class greenies. It is not a big deal to use terry squares!!

Do you dry them in an tumble dryer? Or hang dry? If you tumble dry add a dry towel to the dryer when drying it will speed up drying time.

So yesterday I inserted my Lily Cup A for the first time, but as soon as I got it in I started feeling dizzy so I took it out. I am 19 and my vagina is not used to having things up there, rarely even two fingers. I dont know if it was anxiety cause I was afraid of letting the cup go and not being able to get it out (I did let it go but it didn’t go up that much) Also I read it could be vasovagal reflections or sensitivity to the suction of the cup, as well as anxiety and even maybe having my head down for too long?? Anyone has had similar experiences?
@angko-pe
@angko-pe 3 жыл бұрын
Yes. Or I feel nauseaus sometimes when I use a cup and have to remove it asap. The nausea goes away as soon as I remove the cup. I don't know why this happens, but it's got to be the positioning or something, because other times I can use it just fine.

Do you need to wash them right after you keep them off? I saw a video of a woman washing them just once a week all together, I don't know if that's the way to go. I would actually do it every evening but I can see that is a lot of work
@angko-pe
@angko-pe 3 жыл бұрын
You only need to wash them every 2-3 days. You store them in a waterproof bag until washing day.
@adorabell4253
@adorabell4253 3 жыл бұрын
I tend to do a load every day or so but I have a small, portable machine and also toss in other clothes and towels and such. It really depends on how big your machine is and how up to laundry you feel.
@Andserkiel
@Andserkiel 3 жыл бұрын
I’d hate to see the state of that woman’s nappies, letting them sit dirty for a week will damage them. I heard someone’s husband left one in a wet bag in a car by accident and when they found it 5 days later there was a hole in the fabric where the poo had sat.
@jgr_lilli_
@jgr_lilli_ 3 жыл бұрын
You CAN store them for one week, but only if they've been previously pre-rinsed (with a toilet sprayer or in the washer) so the majority of the poop and pee are washed off. Storing soiled nappies, poop and all, for that long would probably be extremely nasty.
@Andserkiel
@Andserkiel 3 жыл бұрын
@@michellekercy4430 2-3 days is fine, it’s a week that is far too long. No cloth nappy seller in the UK would recommend leaving them that long even if rinsed.

How do you wash a cloth nappy cos in my it could be really unpleasant and stinky
@adorabell4253
@adorabell4253 3 жыл бұрын
Toss ‘em in the machine and stick it in heavy duty. I like to do a quick hand wash for the poopy diapers to get the poop solids off. If you’ve ever had to wash a peed bedsheet after an accident, it’s the same thing. After a day you won’t care (most likely) since you’re touching the baby’s pee and poo when you wash them anyways.
@angko-pe
@angko-pe 3 жыл бұрын
Before baby start solid food their poop is water soluble, so you just wash the poop out. After baby starts solids and their poop become more human like you need to either use a liner to catch the poop (which you then throw in the trash after you plop the poop in the toilet) or you just plop the poop in the toilet and maybe rinse off the mess in the shower/toilet.

You put them on a separate rinse cycle and then wash them properly on a 3 hour cycle at least.
