We did Cole Range on week four which was nice because you got the satisfaction of ending phase 1 once you finished. I went in January and they had the trench filled with water and we went through it everyday. The last night it was frozen over and I remember watching Roster Number 20 dive in without hesitation and proceed to break the ice for us. Needless to say he ranked high on peers. We also ended it out with a 14 mile forced ruck back to the bricks. Great times. RLTW

I served in all three Battalions. I was in 2/75 for Panama and went to Regimental RIP before arriving. I got out of the Army as a SSG and then came back in as a SGT and went to 3/75 going through ROP in 1995. I went overseas to Okinawa and came back to Regt right before 911 going through ROP again and then going to 1/75 for early OEF and the invasion of Iraq in OIF I. I was commo and was a Company commo chief in 2nd and 3rd and the BN Commo chief for 1st. I love these videos about RASP since the RASP program started after I left 1/75 in 2004. RASP looks so much better than RIP because once the weedout process is done the candidates actually get real training. RIP was just a smoker with little training value.

Very interesting. I didn’t do RASP I served in the 90’s but your story brings back 2 memories. First one is being so tired that the effort of closing your eyes is too much, and you lay away staring up until you just pass out. The second is once I was so sleep deprived i had a full on conversation with a tree, and to this day I remember it like any real conversation I had with a real person. USArmy…#good times lol

Tom Block was the second or third Ranger I met when I got to my company, I was in Rasp when Ares happened. Really set the expectation seeing that guy walking around. One of the nicest guys too. Glad you got to meet him, although, you’d have probably been luckier if it had been an alligator 😂 Edit: I pulled my hip flexor on day 2 and could barely run during the squad competition. Just threw my leg forward and hoped it didn’t buckle. Good times

The gravel road woodline from the pit is just over 200 meters, while the woodline towards the infamous "bush" is about 225 meters. Don't ask me how I found that out ;)

Compared to ya career in Batt how was RASP? I keep reading online bein a private is way harder. Heading to RASP in 3 weeks!
@zachthedangerranger Жыл бұрын
RASP was a breeze compared to being a private. Every week for a while once you show up is like the first week of RASP, your squad is trying to see if you're a liability so they test you pretty good.
