WOW! I didn't expect that many likes. Thanks for the love.(Edited) I mean, technically, Sheldon is not on the top-class where we are speaking players like Piszczek, Jordi Alba, and etc. But, as a professional soccer player, damn, I really appreciate his efforts, attitude, and spirits. Hope Sheldon keep up the good job on and off the pitch. Original Comment: Although I wouldn't say Sheldon is an extremely top-class player, I really appreciate his efforts on promoting content in professional soccer team to some soccer enthusiasts like me, who has no chance to becoming a pro but really don't want to just messing around playing soccer. Keep up the good work on the channel!!

matt is a great player with unbelievable discipline, very athletic and technical as well. the crazy part is I don’t believe he had a lot of talent, everything he has he earned through hard work. and that makes me respect him even more. I think he’ll end up playing first division somewhere at some point without a doubt

Excellent program. There is one missing movement that can seriously improve performance and longevity. The hip hinge. It trains explosion and the entire posterior chain without taxing the nervous system. I, as a strength coach, strength athlete, and soccer player/coach, would highly recommend the kettlebell swing, as taught by Pavel Tsatsouline, and the banded hip extension.

Great video Matt! I'm wondering if you do any individual technical training during the season (e.g. passing against a wall, dribbling, recieving long balls, crossing, shooting), if you do it, how often? Or do you just do your own workouts and team training sessions?
@BecomeElite4 жыл бұрын
Yes, preseason trainings die down and we get into our regular season training schedule, I will usually stick around after training 2-3x a week for about 15-30 minutes to work on individual stuff like receiving and hitting long balls, 1v1s, crosses, shooting, etc. Then maybe, if we have a lighter week or if my body is feeling great, I'll get in an extra 45-60 minute technical session on my own later on in the day, but that is probably 1-2x a month only and it really depends on our game schedule.

Great exercises Matt, I have only 1 comment to make. Instead of isometric quad contraction (spanish squat) you should do heavy split squats instead, they are the best to maintain or stenghen the muscle-tendon unit, sadly i know this from experiencing patellar tendinopathy as well.

Hi Matt I'm currently writing a novel. It's about a professional club's entire season. Your video "My COMPLETE Weekly Gym Routine during Season" provided good information. How do you balance gym sessions with team training? I will describe this process from the perspectives of players, coaches, and the club. Additionally, I will explain how to balance tactical and technical training with gym work. i) timings of sessions ii) length of sessions iii) which day for which session iv) would the club include stamina sessions during the competition season? Your help would be most appreciated.

Hey Matt, what do you think about balance exercises like bosu ball and also what about med ball slams and explosivness exercises, what about resisted sprints.. Do you do these stuff, would love to hear it
@BecomeElite4 жыл бұрын
I love them for working on the smaller stabilizing muscles in the feet, ankles, and knees. You've probably seen me do a ton of Bosu Ball work in some of my other videos. I usually will incorporate those exercises into my weekly routine on one of the prehab days. I actually had a plan to do that on Friday, but the team film session went longer than expected.

As he has said before speed is one of his strengths, have you not seen his game analysis where he is the first to a lose ball.
@BecomeElite4 жыл бұрын
Like I said in the video, speed and agility is probably my biggest strengths as a player. We do some speed and agility work during our team trainings, but I don't do any extra work in the gym on my own. That was something I did as a younger player when I was trying to build those attributes up, but now I'm just maintaining my speed and strength so I can focus in other areas of my game that I think is holding me back from reaching the next level.
