Great sounds and pretty original. You only need Boss Turbo DS-2 and the Ibanez Wah. All other pedals can be replaced by other pedals, but these 2 are needed and can't be replicated! I also use the MXR Chorus and this is my favorite Chorus of all time. Have it since more than 10 yeas and still love it and never replaced it!

@@paulyC for Dani California pre chorus, I use either “throbber” with speed maxed out or “tron up” (envelope filter). For the bridge, I use the “spin cycle” setting. I’m working on an in depth video that you asked for where it’ll show these settings. 😎 ✌️

I have a chorus pedal, a distortion pedal (boss ds1 imitation) and a vox wah wah. I can buy two more pedals from here to the end of this year. Which pedals do you recomend me to buy? I was thinking a fuzz and overdrive or an overdrive and a boost pedal. I would like to buy an overdrive because i have a cheap 50w amplifier and it sounds VERY clean. I don't like to sound that clean. Do you believe an overdrive would help me to get that dirty clean sound frusciante has?
@frusciantegeartone Жыл бұрын
Nice, you’re almost there! For sure get a fuzz. Next, if it were me and my amp was only a clean amp, I would get a pedal that you can have as an “always on” pedal. You could get an overdrive pedal set the gain to edge of breakup and balance you tone knob. But it could be limited on tone adjustment if it’s just one tone knob. You could get a boost pedal and same rules apply. But what I would really do is try the $40 Joyo “amp in a box”(it’s orange & called “american”).That’s what they’re for (besides running directly into mixer). It can control lows mids highs drive voice and level. Thinking of getting one myself. I love the sound of my clean amp vs my driven amp so I thought about adding that pedal to my clean amp to get best of both worlds. But yeah, definitely fuzz, and if you didn’t go the amp in a box route, I’d choose an overdrive pedal since they are more versatile and can act as a clean boost or drive. Can’t wait to hear what you end up doing!

@@frusciantegeartone thank you very much!!! This really helps me. I didn't know about that joyo pedal and its function. If I earn some money i would like to buy it. I'm from Argentina and i'm 18 years old, it's hard to me to earn money but not impossible. Sure about the end of the year i will have one of these pedals

@@frusciantegeartone thanks. Will I want to go into “clean” or “lead” for the most frusciante possible
@frusciantegeartone9 ай бұрын
@@JacksonWright-2006 lead. His clean tone isn’t that clean. If you have a presence knob, turn it all the way up for the treble. If no presence knob, turn treble up until it’s noticeable. Depending on your amp, set the gain a little less than halfway. Dave Simpson said the trick is to have almost enough gain to sound like AC/DC. That should land you into frusciante land. Bass and mids can also be set higher too. I used to turn mids down and treb up but now I turn treb down because it’s too harsh, especially if you have presence turned up. Also, if you have an overdrive pedal that you could set to “always on”, you could set it up on your clean channel of your amp and it usually sounds amazing. Only problem is it doesn’t take a ds2 well (if ds2 settings are all the way up)

No Dyna Comp?!? 😯
@frusciantegeartone7 ай бұрын
Not really needed if playing through dirty channel of amp, which I’m playing through in this video. Now if I was playing a BSSM set, I’d def use a compressor. But not really needed in my opinion. Have you watched any Dave Simpson videos? He goes in depth about fruaciante’s tone and compression. He also doesn’t use a comp either. I did have a yellow compressor by mooer on my board for a while as an “always on” pedal but didn’t seem worth the real estate so I sold it. I’m now playing through a helix. May do a video on compression A/B to see the difference on dirty amps vs clean amps with compression

@@gijsjanssen I’ve had bad luck buying used gear in the past. So I tend to buy new. Also, at the time of buying the boost, I wasn’t doing it to replicate a frusciante board, I was playing live and need a boost pedal and it was fairly cheap new so I went with it. As for the triangle buff, I bought it after ignorantly selling by big muff pedal 😢. I was more concerned with have no mini pedals so my gear was easier to move and play live with.
