You said you were able to skip some modules because you took similar classes before. Is there a way to speedrun some of the modules at CMU. So for example do computer systems class in half the time if you're on crack or have learned about it before?

Hey Nathan, really love your videos, I am glad I have found your channel again, I am about to finish my first year in Computer Engineering, I am just really glad that my experience is about on par with yours, keep up the good work, and I really hope to personally meet you as a fellow engineer one day!

Good video. It provides some good insight for me, as a person who hasn't yet attended college.

I've been contemplating going to college for a while now. I'm currently 17 and a Junior in HS. I've always been interested in programming, though I've never really taken the steps to get there. I plan on primarily focusing in Web Development (pref. full stack). Though, I don't know if I should go to college. I feel that if I instead put 4-5 years just into learning all of it myself, I could get a greater outcome that would make me more valuable in my field than a degree. Though, getting a degree often means that you hold security but in modern day tech fields that is debatable.

anon, if you can afford it, studying Computer Science at a college would be a good move. College teaches how the computer actually works down to the circuitry, whereas coding camps/the job will just teach you full stack dev and thats it. College is also a great place to explore interests outside CS (academically or through clubs), try your hand at research, make friends and connections, etc. If you find that college is not for you also, you could always just try to land a SWE job and drop out (which is definitely doable without a degree)
