I have a 03 G35 coupe and it's grinding into 6th gear. It supposedly has a newer stage 3 clutch in it and everything else is pretty new too. I'm seeing videos of it possibly being a misalignment with that alignment plate with the three bolts
@ERICSDIYGARAGE2 жыл бұрын
It's probably worn synchros in the transmission. If that wasn't installed Correctly you would have a issue with 5th gear as well
@joshschonfeld36752 жыл бұрын
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE that's what I'm afraid of. I've only had the car for about a week but this morning on my way to work I was experimenting with 6th gear and it seems like if I pull the shifter closer to 4th when I shift into 6th gear then it doesn't grind. I may try to adjust the plate clockwise just slightly to bring 6th closer to 4th and see if that helps

I did the clutch in my G35 about 6 months ago, and I've had the same exact issues. I'm fairly certain that this is my problem. Great video!

Chasing gremlins, hope you can help. Seems like bad gas, but codes popping up randomly after clearing the computer twice in one day. Went to gas up after gasket flip. Ran fine to the station. Butter. After gas, pedal didn't work, AT light and CEL. Codes at the station were P0113, P0223, and P1224. Cleared the computer by battery, booted up fine. Slightly stumbled on the way home. Make it home, reset computer, now p0720, p0132, and p0162. I'm fine with the oxygen sensor code on bank 1. I replaced both on the driver side, so I knew that was coming. Just so random that I get all these randoms after a near empty tank (which I don't typically do). Mostly the transmission code. Any insight?

I love free fixes. If I cant fix cheap, then I'll buy the parts. I love going to the junk yards too.

it's one of the best feelings not having to waste money and fixing things for free, I actually picked up the spare spring at the yunk yard lol

Quick question.. did a manual swap on my 2003 g35. Just picked up the center console and realized its for an 2006. Would it still work on my 2003?

A shop recently did my clutch change, I’m guessing they didn’t put it back correctly as well because it was working correctly before I had my clutch changed.

Yeah that would make sense check yours out 👍

Thanks bro. BTW, your G35 looks pretty rough, seems like the previous owner didn't take care of it. As we're on topic about transmissions, I recommend you change out the gearbox oil. You'll need 75w-85 or 75w-90 gear oil (make sure it's GL-4 compliant). I buy the Redline brand, either MT-85 or MT-90 (you'll need approx 3 and a quarter quarts of this to fill it up). This will help with the shifting feel. Also, change out the clutch hydraulic system fluid (it's brake fluid, and gets dirty quickly, I recommend flushing it out once a year)
@ERICSDIYGARAGE4 жыл бұрын
thank for the awesome recommendations! I used MT 90 on my other g35 and I noticed it helped a lot but I was thinking of using Nissan gear oil since from what I'm reading people have the best results it is pricey tho lol

@@ERICSDIYGARAGE No problem. Nissan OEM oil can't hurt ;) I've heard good things about Amsoil. So long as it's GL4 spec

Right now I am having an issue I can’t figure out.. help? I bought a car with a new clutch. At the beginning. as I started letting out the petal from the floor, the clutch would grab hard. Didn’t have any issues other than a tick when I had the petal out and in N… When I’d press it in the noise went away.. the slave cylinder was bad so I replaced it and the master as well, bled them really well. And still had the tick and the petal would be slow to return all the way.. it would Pop back 60% of the way then slowly the rest of the way.. if you let your foot off the petal fast it basically comes up and then slaps the bottom of your foot.. now when I have clutch pressed in all the way I can’t get into 1st gear.. sometimes if i shift into 4th then try 1st it will work but it’s stiff.. once I get it into 1st gear I can come back to neutral and any other gear ( keep in mind car isn’t moving at all during all this. Just clutch in and manipulating the shifter.) but say i go back to neutral and let the clutch out all the way, then press it in again.. im back to square1 … can’t get into 1st gear.. stiff as a rock.. but I can sometimes get it into 4th and then 1st again after that.. any time I let the clutch out all the way in N I can’t get into 1st … side note when the cars not running I can go through all the gears .. clutch in and out doesn’t affect it.. only while running. Thanks for reading this ..

someone at some point didn't install the clutch right or the throw out bearing is not properly working. if you replaced the slave cylinder and master cylinder than only thing that can be at fault Is your clutch or transmission or throw out bearing

@@ERICSDIYGARAGE I’ve heard when you do a clutch job, that sometimes you need to re align the shifter plate ? Is it possible that it’s related?? I can’t see it really because it would have had that issue when I first drove it… or maybe bolts loosened up and it came out of position? I’m just spitballing.. I’m going to bench bleed the master tomorrow in case it’s got some air.. the petal is spongy… but I’ve bled it 5 times from the slave.. could low transmission fluid cause this?? Or maybe a clutch fork return spring is worn out?

I need some help I have a 350z and it’s stuck in the middle but it will go left but it won’t go to the right and it does go down any idea what it could be ???
@ERICSDIYGARAGE4 жыл бұрын
try to take the shifter apart and see if there is any issues with the shifter linkage if not it could be a transmission.
@AccidentalBroadcast4 жыл бұрын
You didn't put it back correctly either. Beware of reverse as you have the tab on the wrong side!
