Protecting your brain and cognitive function is not just for the elderly. It’s never too early to start protecting your brain, which is something we should all think more about as Alzheimer’s and dementia rates continue to rise. We can start with healthy lifestyle choices that affect diet, sleep, stress management, and more. The bonus of brain-healthy lifestyle choices like these is that they protect the health of your entire body as well.
In this episode of my new Masterclass series, I am interviewed by my good friend and podcast host, Dhru Purohit, about Alzheimer’s and dementia. We talk about early detection, contributors to cognitive dysfunction, foods that fuel the brain, and so much more. We also discuss how other factors, such as toxicity, sleep apnea, and even lack of community, affect brain health.
Dhru Purohit is a podcast host, serial entrepreneur, and investor in the health and wellness industry. His podcast, The Dhru Purohit Podcast, is a top 50 global health podcast with over 30+ million unique downloads. His interviews focus on the inner workings of the brain and the body and feature the brightest minds in wellness, medicine, and mindset.
This episode is brought to you by Rupa Health and Paleovalley.
Rupa Health is a place for Functional Medicine practitioners to access more than 2,000 specialty lab tests from over 20 labs like DUTCH, Vibrant America, Genova, Great Plains, and more. You can check out a free live demo with a Q&A or create an account at RupaHealth.com.

My husband has shown early cognitive problems (memory issues). I took him off his cereal/bananas and we are eating keto and using coconut oil. I am going to add MCT oil as soon as I figure out a good one. Been only a couple weeks and I see a marked difference. Also, his bowel movements have improved to the point he is bragging about his good poops! We are also fasting from 4pm to 11 am the next day. He is 76 and I am 72. Hope its not too late for us. His neurologist is all for it but can't really push this since there is not a widespread science consensus of this. At this age, we must rely on our you tube docs and our own choices.

So the least corrupt countries who held their citizens hostage for the shortest amount of time had the lowest Boogey Virus rates. Of course.... because people don’t get sick from germs, they get sick from being scared and upset about something that happened in their lives. Enter the worldwide FEAR CAMPAIGN. The Germ Theory was never actually proven to be 100% accurate, yet the trillion dollar medical industry is entirely based on that theory. What's the CAUSE of death in people with this "virus"? Does their brain explode? Does their heart stop beating? The CAUSE of death is still pneumonia. Pneumonia is not something you can "catch". It's a biological result of being "scared to death" of something which is exactly what the media has done to people dumb enough to watch them. You've heard the term "Worried sick". That's because your BRAIN causes you to become sick due to the stress it is perceiving! Why do you think young kids aren't getting the Boogey Virus? Because they aren't sitting in front of the news being scared to death because they're too young to understand a Fear Campaign. These pathetic "experts" just make shit it up to explain their narrative as they go. First they tell you kids bring home every illness from school because they're not "exposed" to enough things, then they say somehow they're immune to a Boogey Virus? Does anyone have common sense?! You don't show the symptoms of "disease" until you stop being panicked and afraid. These symptoms usually show up 1-2 weeks after you've relaxed and resolved the upsetting event. There's no such thing that some diseases you can "catch", but not all. It's not that complex! If you can't "catch" cancer, diabetes, MS, arthritis, etc., from other people, then you can't "catch" colds, flu and Boogey Viruses. So governments around the world are CAUSING fear frights in everyone based on an unproven THEORY by one man, Louis Pasteur, who redacted his claim of the germ theory on his death bed, yet no one listened. So of course, when everyone is allowed to escape the hostage situation the governments have put their people into, and they start relaxing about the Boogey Virus, that's not in any way transmissible, they will begin their healing phase (get sick), and believe they then have it, and more panic will ensue as well as martial law. The longer people allow this government to hold them hostage in their homes, the more severe the "sickness" will be. Can anyone put 2 and 2 together to figure out what I'm saying?? Western Medicine is pure fraud, and people's lives are destroyed because of it. There's no critical thinking anymore. People think they're educated because they've memorized the lies they've been told for 100 years.

If there is a posterchild for Alzheimer's, it should be me. At 62 I have lived a life with CPTSD, PTSD, 3 TBI's, several physical as well as emotional traumas, almost a lifelong isolation, and sleep and former drinking patterns that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Yet here I sit with titanium plates in my face and fractures all over my skull with the scars and eye patch to prove it, still retaining the sharpness I had in my 20's. I have done EVERYTHING one is supposed to do TO get it, so I feel as if I've treaded off into a mental minefield and have just yet to step on the inevitable. The only variable I have adhered to to extents, is nutrition and exercise. Protect those noggins brothers and sisters. The "ratchet" effect is a terrifying one to consider. The ratchet turns only one way, and there is NO way back once the gear tooth has passed the stop. The mind is a tool for navigating this life as well as your soul's journey, we should be treating them more carefully than a million Fabergé eggs. Here's to the health of your minds brothers and sisters, may they store and recall the best of memories always.

Here in Ayurveda, there is a herb called 'Brahmi' (also available in tablet form), which is great for Brain Health. The BEST though is a supplement called 'Brahmarasayan' which is a blend of 50 herbs which is almost like a wonder medicine for all brain ailments, from a weak memory to Alzheimers. Of the 5 things discussed, stress is the hardest to deal with. I am trying really hard not to react to factors outside my control, but it is a struggle. Incidentally, in my experience as a corporate slave, I have noticed that fear was used to control the herd. At the same time there is a proclamation that the corporation is all loving. Yeah, that can be stressful.

Such a great interview. Dr. Mark got me started on healing my body once I was healed by God of Systemic Lupus. Yes... I was healed, it is medically documented via Dana Faber Boston and the Lupus Team there plus my Rheumatologist who was on staff at BU Medical. Yup... God led me to some GREAT dictors, my story is INTENSE...but because of all the meds, internally my body was a HOT MESS... and I needed to focus! I finally found a doctor who helped me get rid of Candida... average weight loss with the treatment was 30 lbs... me, I dropped 55lbs. I had a BAD case which caused eczema and I am still dealing with one small patch. Dr. Mark is reinforcing EVERYTHING I am continuing to learn to get healthy ... it is a process and I am begining my next rotation on healing my gut, and resetting my metabolism... a 24+ week plan to fix the internal damage done from ALL the meds in the high doses I had to take for almost 7 yrs. It is not an overnight fix... but finding how to rid my body of Candida again was answered prayer and literally dropping 55 pounds over 3 months was all that garbage of yeast overgrowth. Dr. Mark set me on the right path... listen to him and trust him!

Also, new job and circumstances are messing up my sleep. I typical only sleep from 9:30PM to 3:50 AM. My coffee (black) addiction is also way out of control. It's part of being a doctor who is a public figure. While I understand it may not be easy, he still profits from the public attention and by avoiding sharing his valuable medical opinion he is choosing to ignore the need from the people to learn from him which is the whole reason we are here (at least I am) and it makes me wonder what else he is choosing not to share for his convenience/benefit. Vit D. Immensely important especially for those of us with a lot of melanin who are protected from the sun naturally and pale people who can not go in the sun. Dr. Berg has a great short video on this. Highly recommend!

@@Rosie_Apple_Delight Yes, and not only vitamin D, but vitamin K2 along with it. I get one that's a combo of both.

This guy is all about duet, but seems to have some kind of acid reflux burping thing going on in all but one video interview I’ve seen…kind of ironic.
