It get so bad as to the point that people will list something extremely detailed from when I was a kid. If either I refuse to answer or they think its wrong they will start calling me a lier (loudly) and WILL take it to social. I've learned the best way to deal with it is to start asking them questions instead of answering. If they timed me I do the same and add snapps. If they say anything other then an apology I leave well flipping them off. It's the one thing that burns me. As far as I'm concerned they just rolled a one on the charisma check. Quite right. Mom and Dad met because they were part of the same small group of computer science majors back when coding was done in *binary.* Mom got the degree, Dad didn't (in part because hypnotherapy to deal with his test anxiety worked *too* well). Mom's also the one who owns the power tools and has a black belt in soo bak doh. Dad isn't threatened by any of this. He *brags* about it!

Story 1: Proud of her for standing up for herself! She knew he was someone she couldn't see herself with. He showed his true colors. She was honest with him and cut ties and moved on! Story 2: Yeah, surrogacy among friends is a bad idea. Those two were a bit blind to each other's feelings. But, So happy they got their happy ending!

How is his co-workers grilling her about work related questions "trying to get to know her"? Your identity has a personality, not dictated by knowledge. Dan sounds egotistical and he was creepily trying to "coach her up" like he was her parent. The friends are incredibly insecure....and I hope they don't have leadership roles.

Story 1: good call by OP. Bet that man baby will crawl his way to some MRA/incel forum and whine about how mean “females” are to nice guys like him. Story 2: not sure how long between when they confessed to each other and when they eloped, but I’m choosing not to be cynical and believe this will be happily ever after for them

When I was dating my bf I made a joke about Mortal Kombat off handedly. He was so happy that I liked one of his favorite game series that he ran to me and kissed me pationately. Then went home and enjoyed hours of playing video games. He told me he never had a girlfriend that was remotely interested in MK and was just so happy to be able to share his intrests. Open your heart to your loved ones intrests and hobbies and you might get 11+ years of love in the future like I have. 💜💜💜

First story: NTA what that action is called is Mud Checking and is always a way of fucking with people and is almost always at least passive aggressive if not aggressive and there is a story of it turning fatal in the Hell's Angels MC. Best to not put up with it and not inappropriate to answer the person doing the mud checking with F-off.

It made me so happy to hear your opening when I started this one and it just hit me. So if no one has told you lately you have done so well, your parents are so so proud of you wherever they are right now. As well as all of us are also so so proud of you!

*_Story #3_* Can’t blame you… He let his friends just absolutely grill you, making you feel extremely uncomfortable.. And their whole intention was to try and humiliate you. To make you look like a fool for “pretending to like those hobbies (I guess?). NTA. Your boyfriend is as bad as they are for letting them treat you like that.

Story 1.... the first bad sign was the pick of restuarant... that's like walking your pet pig around a slaughterhouse "just for fun". Edit to add I'm glad op gave him the gears. His reaction, though not ideal, wasn't the kind of double down defense I was expecting so he might.... might take this as a lesson in mindfulness in his next relationship

Story 1: Ugh, she just faced to biggest problem with the gender hazing people experience. I remember one post where the OP tried to talk to a random guy about a field, dude tried to correct her on how a certain article should be interpreted, and the girl was the one who wrote the article and KNEW he was wrong. OP JUST started in this field and this is how you push someone out of said field. S1 update: Well, Dan's an idiot, and the one friend who looked down seems like the only savable person in the group. Ashamed guy actually wants to have normal conversation but is stuck playing work place politics and dealing with sexist coworkers. Glad OP knew to not stick around with Dan the 'man'. Story 2: Oh this is stupid complex, OP should NOT donate to her. It's a bad idea to do all this if he is in love with her, even if it's just the idea of her. Donating is a bad idea if you don't do it through a company to protect him. S2 Update: Wow, that commenter was right that once they started a relationship that she would shelve the whole "donate so I can have a kid" thing, probably because she feels like they would have their whole lives to look forward to, so why rush it. Glad that it turned out okay for OP.

Ngl i feel bad for the one guy who apologized to op in the first story. I have been in toxic friend groups like that before and would follow what they were doing because all of them were doing it, but i managed to pull my head out my ass and get away from them after seeing it wasn't worth it. I hope he comes to the realization and ditches them like I did.

Bravo. Good job for getting rid of this guy. He was a giant red flag and I’m so glad she didn’t let it get swept under the rug. Soo many people ignore these flags during the honeymoon phase and then are stunned when they find their partners are utter crap. News flash: they always were. Bravo OP for dumping the dude who couldn’t believe Reddit took the side of OP even though they were clearly out of line in how they treated op

I mean not really. It’s good he had enough insight to recognize what was going on, but he didn’t step in after his realization and only apologized after she reached out to him. Dudes like the buttholes who kept quizzing her take complacency as permission to keep doing what they’re doing. Glad he felt guilty, but hopefully he’s learned enough to step up next time this happens.

I am so sorry. I would have loudly talked down to them. At a level where neighboring tables could hear. They wanted to make a bunch of comments, in private, and gang up on someone they deemed "weak". I would smile really wide and tell all the waitresses about their comments, even call across the room, and show them what it feels like to be uncomfortable. That kind of thing doesn't fly with me. People like this are big and bad in private. They always shut up when you're bringing them to other people's attention. I also recommend speaking to them like a Mother or school teacher. It really does a number on them. Psychologically. I would also recommend using any pet names they used on people they were being creeps about. Stare them in the eyes with the biggest and sugary sweet smile you can.

Awww....why ruin a nice story with doom & gloom. Yeah, life happens, a car or disease could get one of them tomorrow too (his bestie already knows that, ovarian cancer, still wanting to have a child). Take the good when it comes and celebrate it. Put up basic defenses against the bad, then let it go. Worry is a waste of imagination.

Story 1 - I effing HATE people like this because they aren’t trying to get to know you, or have a conversation. They decided beforehand that you can’t possibly know what you like, and then rapid fire asked questions to confirm their judgement. It’s not kidding, it’s not joking - it’s an attack against OP because they want to be able to say, “See? We knew she was just a poser!” Unfortunately as a female with “male” interests this happens more often than not, and it’s a very good marker to show you who is worth sharing your time and interests with, and who simply wants to use you as a prop for something besides simply who you are as a person.

Also to note about coding. Very few people remember random queries off the top of their head. In coding you understand the basic principles and have an idea what to Google when you need specific syntax, and know enough to be able to research the gaps. What they did is doubly ridiculous because most people don’t just rote know all the syntax off by heart- that’s not what makes a coder
@Flakey1012 жыл бұрын
As you said often basic principles are enough. I have not seriously coded (ie got paid for it) since the early 90's, so I am not really familiar with half the programs some of my coder friends even use, but we do not mind talking shop while I am around, because most of it is disscusing possible approaches to a problem, which 90% of I can follow easily. Going deeper into the fine detail is rarely done even if I am not around.
