My Daughter's New Business In THAILAND & Is Bangkok University Any Good ?

Today, I meet up with my wonderful daughter Annie. She tells me how she's getting on at Bangkok university and shows me a new little business venture she has started up. We also take a tour around an amazing market.

The entrepreneurial attitude appears stronger in Thailand than anywhere else I have lived, have seen lots of Asian kids doing the same (Chinese mass sale platforms help). Good on Annie, you must be very proud of her. We love Thalat Thai, amazing place to wander around. Take a look at the fruit section next visit...incredible. We like the garden shops down the other end of the street too. Thamasat uni has great day markets too next to their hospital. Wife's family used to run some food stalls inside the uni but no more, unfortunately.

Electric socket was probably for old style emergency light. Pretty heavy battery pack attached to wall. I had a few in my 25 year old house presumably as power failures much more frequent then. All sockets were same ceiling location.

James. As stated before the legal age to drink in Thailand is 18 and the legal age to buy alcohol is 20. My wife is has been a government officer in district attorneys office 24y so far. My best friend in Thailand is a government officer as a Thai prosecutor. My daughter is currently in Bangkok studying law to follow her mother’s footsteps. All three confirm. Just google yourself James and don’t spread misinformation as l tried to reply to your reply but to no avail 🤷🏼‍♂️ If I could send you the act for drinking l would but no email in the description that I could see.

Not that bothered as you are mate. I did Google and all said 20. Not going to waste my time in Thai legal minutiae if can drink buy etc.. Basically If kids want to go out and party they need to have ID showing they're 20. In the video I was referring to the bar that had been closed down for selling to kids under 20. All the best.👍🍺🍺

Btw, I would kill to have that market near me. Tesco did for a while do Thai holy basil, and I would always get some, but not seen it in months. Oyster mushrooms, and king oyster mushrooms are expensive, and as for galangal, and other Thai ingredients, it would have to be specially ordered online. I've never seen a pea aubergine in the UK, even in the Thai restaurants. I would be in heaven there.

My Thai daughter is only 13 , but because of the almost communist laws in Thailand , I'm bringing her out when she's 17 . Vietnam is far more built for a better class of foreigner . I will not have my daughter believing others are "lesser people" just because she was born into a nation , as well as a lack of history . I welcome all of the hysterical praise that foreigners use to defend their sub human lifestyles in Thailand, but at the end of the day , reality wins .

I applaud Annie's business sense, and I can imagine that it is both rewarding and good experience. If I may offer a suggestion. Inherently, this business model is constrained in terms of the number of meals she can prepare, and the volume she can sell in any given week. If she were to to create cooking videos and put them on YT, IG, FB, Tik Tok, etc, her reach would be significant, and her English and Thai massively broadens her potential audience too. There is a lot of interest in Thai food worldwide. In the UK, as you might know, it has seen enormous growth in recent years. Monetisation at the low end, would be ads and revenue share (FB reels for example), but she could also use affiliate links to the likes of Amazon, and others, and even put together a recipe book, and sell physical and downloadable versions, and other merch. There are many other areas it could branch out to, but that's more than enough to begin with.
