My father is exactly like this. Mom didn’t do anything wrong and he was the one who cheated, yet due to resentment towards her, he took it out on his five children. He has never paid child support and took all of our savings. Been broke my whole life and my siblings and I are changing our family tree. I’m going to college next fall with a full ride! Thanks Dave! Grant Armbruster did you hear what a narcissist her ex is? It probably went both ways. He took her to court for custody. She was granted full custody so he made allegations and threats then she took him to court to abide by court orders then he took her to court for health insurance monies and she took him for violations of not upholding visitation etc... this is life with a narcissist. Until you’ve actually lived it, you can’t assume you know she was just running to court to bleed him. I’ve lived this. In the end, he chose to continue paying his “chump change” (his words) child support and relinquish all visitation visits. He did it to hurt our son because I wouldn’t give in to his tactics. It’s sad and real. Not all men are victims of a gold digger. Most men put themselves in that situation. They lie and cheat and abuse and expect the woman to conform to their evil ways. 💔

My thoughts exactly. It sounds like he's incredibly bitter that his exwife has moved on and is living an amazing life and he probably never moved on. The wife may not even care but the man sees that his woman isn't in the gutter and in need like he hoped but instead is with another man who's better looking and can provide far more than he ever could. Not only that, but your death will further benefit her and her new husband. That's got to sting. This life insurance thing is the only control and thing he has over the situation and it's his end game and everything but it's really nothing to the exwife. $250k life insurance policy when you're making almost that a year is nice but not life changing.

They each agreed to carry 250k policies on their lives w/ the other as beneficiary in the divorce 10 years ago. (BTW notice no mention was made about dropping the policy on her life w/ the ex as beneficiary. Guess he thinks it's ok if he profits from her death but not other way around!) Really, the $ isn't the issue here, it's the fact that dad is willing to deprive his kids & use them as weapons just to get back at the ex-wife!

@@IWantToMature85 He told her he established a trust (not sure when this was done, or was it actually done or just his bluff) that would pay out $1m to each of his children when they reached 30. However, 10 years ago when they got divorced, as part of the settlement, they both take a life insurance policy on each other's lives, with the children as beneficiary. They did that just in case something happen to one of them. However, as the children are minor, they would need a trustee. So they named each other as trustee. If this was reverse, and this caller was dying instead, the ex-husband would become the trustee to her life insurance. As trustee, they oversee the fund and to make sure it is appropriately managed. So technically, she not benefiting anything as trustee. But in his hateful and vindictive mind, he think that it's a windfall for her.

She doesn’t want it, she wants he kids’ education paid for and the have something left for her kids…. She said she doesn’t care but she wanted to know if she should sacrifice the insurance policy trust fund and being it’s trustee for her kids (which has rules and guidelines as to what constitutes benefitting the kids) in order for them to get the inheritance when they are 30 yrs old…. How is that not sacrificial? Ramsey said to not play ball and tell this buttwipe ex no about his dying demands. Who hates someone so much they want to take from their own flesh and blood?!

It's supposed to go in a trust for the kids. Even if she's in charge of the trust that doesn't mean she can go buy herself a diamond bracelet. Trust still have rules about how the money can be used, if he feels like it's still open for abuse he should fix that loophole while he still alive. It likely stipulates a certain amount monthly for the kids expenses like clothes and food (child support) and it sounds like they can use portions of it for college and marriage before age 30 at which point they get the remainder. 😔

This pathetic excuse for a father clearly has determined his children are worthy of his inheritance but chooses to deprive them of that for some vindication he holds against his decade long ex-wife. She may have cheated on him and left him for her now husband (the only thing I can think of that would cause such vindictiveness) or what-not but their divorce had parameters that he knew about for many years and thus agreed to them; if my previous scenario were the case he would have had grounds for a settlement where this wouldn’t be happening. So now that he doesn’t like the terms at the end he wants to cut his nose off to spite his face. It’s childish, it’s pathetic, it’s extortion and it’s evil only pathetic people do pathetic acts.

I think Dave is wrong here he is leaving in inheritance for children which he does not have to do and that he fears doing because she will get her hands on the money. All he is asking for is for her to sign away her rights over the money so that the many can be managed by someone else after he is dead. I hate it when Dave steps into these marriage issues and only gets one side of the story and completely maligns someone who cannot defend themselves

Sad thing is that this happens a lot. My grand father is giving money to his biological kids now and placing a hold on the other 4 kids he raised on a 5 year hold that includes my father who possibly won't live that long. Before I came back the kids weren't on the will at all. Trying to make some progress here I hope as a granddaughter.

Dave: I just cannot imagine punishing my children because I was mad at somebody. My dad: I will not give child support or even food or wood to heat the house because my ex wife will benefit as well as the kids. My mother paced the hall at night it was so cold she was sure one of us would die. We missed so many meals many ended up with food issues, me, a 25 year eating disorder that almost killed me. (To be fair it was also the abuse that set it off).

It’s funny how she’s married again and still is wanting the insurance money from her ex-husband it’s not for you it’s for the kids and you shouldn’t be able to touch it. Great point. BTW her and her new husband make a combined 270k plus a year? Tells you right there how her first marriage ended and more importantly, who ended it. All women are hypergamous. They are always looking to “trade up” to the bigger, better, and richer deal. Any woman in the modern-day western world who tells her husband she loves him is a bona-fide liar. I speak from experience on this and I was one of the lucky ones to get out with my life and future intact.

Depends on the state. In Louisiana the parent is only required to leave the minor child 1/3 so the other 2/3 the person can so as wish. I have no idea what Ilinois says. Bad guy that he would do this to his kids. So may be the judge would only alot the 1/3 not the full thing.

She will now risk her kids' future income just to be right. For $ she clearly doesn't need. Her kids will hate her later on if this goes south.

This is more common than you would think. My wife has a friend with an ex just like this. He quit a job paying over $300k (20 yrs ago) to keep her from getting child support. Tried working for someone under a fake identity. Got caught and went to jail. Blamed it all on her and spent years manipulating her and filing false charges against her to take her to court. Ended up sick, broke and penniless.

Wow... Before reading the comments in Dave's videos, I never realized how many men absolutely despise women in general. There are so many nasty things that are being said about ALL women that I know without a shadow of a doubt don't apply to me. I understand that many men have been hurt and feel bitterness because of their experiences. I'm so sorry that this happened. I'm also sorry if you were not treated fairly by the court system. However, why must all women pay for other people's actions? By the way, I feel the same way about similar generalizations about men. Every person is an individual who deserves to be judged on his/her own character traits and actions.

At least she has enough F-you money to just not give in or worry about it. The kids will probably get more than they are getting now in social security survivor benefits. Do not give in to their father...sounds like he will try to make your life difficult regardless of what she does for him.

Why are we bashing up the ex? He knows that the beneficiary (i.e this woman) when he dies will eat up the money and his kids will not see a penny of that money. That is why he is trying to protect the money
