My Dyson Vacuum Has Lost Suction (No Suction from Base or Hose)

Someone threw one away and it looked as if it's hardly been used. I took it home switched it on and there was no power in the suction I watched your video opened the filter and there was a lollipop stick stuck inbetween the pipe which was stopping it from changing position, took it out and its working perfect😂. Have watched several video to fix my problem, without success. Your video, however, went to an area that non of the orhers even mention! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I found somehow I had a wooden clothes peg stuck in that area and once I'd removed with a pair of needlenose pliers and replaced all the parts (filter, cover and front brush) the vacuum now works as good as new.

After days of consulting my Dyson manual, cleaning filters, checking for blockages and looking for solutions online, I finally found it by following the super simple tip in this video. A small sliver of wood (carnage from my dog, no doubt) was keeping that change valve from completely closing. Thanks so much for your quick, to-the-point video!

I was about to give up on my dyson. I knew I ran over a stick a few weeks ago and I went to KZbin University and did all the things the videos showed. I found some parts of the stick and it was doing better but when I reclined it would have floor suction and then lose it when the roller engaged. I decided to give KZbin one more chance before trashing the dyson and your video came up. No one else mentioned or showed the change mechanism. I removed the filter so I could see that mechanism I didn't know existed 15 min before and watched it engaging and then releasing again as the arm tilted further back. Upon closer examination, I found another small piece of the stick interfering with it. After I fished out it out the vacuum is working as it should. THANK YOU!

THANK YOU! Nice clear concise demo. Yes, the failure to switch over suction to the brush head was clearly the issue. Found a 5" clog in that clear valve, made of shredded paper, long hair and lint. Best explanation / illustration of the valve that pivots between suction to the floor and the wand. Helped solve my problem as I had a stuck toothpick that prevented that valve from switching to the floor. Problem solved once the toothpick was removed! Thanks!

My vacuum hasn't worked for months but i refused to give up on it. Your video helped me to finally find that a plastic dart had been sucked up and the plastic point was poking through the hose and blocking that valve. It works now even with the small hole and I will see if I can seal the hole with some rubber cement maybe?

Life safer! There was no suction on my Dyson. Tried everything and found this video. Easy step by step guide to getting inside the ball chamber. I found a pencil stick that was stopping it from switching funnels. Saved me buying a new hoover

Check the compartment collection filter. Many times that filter has scrunched down and blocked the air flow. The new dyson animal ball turbo is nuts. I just got it and it's amazing.

I have similar model and that was the problem. There was actually a toothpick jammed in that change valve keeping it from moving. Of course, it also punched a hole in the hose, so I'll need to replace that ☹☹. Thanks for the video

The vacuum appears to not have any obstructions, I can push a cat toy stick thru the curved area and side area in addition to seeing straight down the hose. It appears the mechanism is functioning properly according to your demo so I can't think of anything else.

I get clogs in 2 places usually I have to remove floor head and usually where the head connects in there it can become bocked , the other location is on the back at the bottom between the wheels there is a red clip that can be pulled back and you can extend it a little in there it can become blocked. The nice thing I found with Dysons is that you can usually take most of pieces apart easily to get to where the clogs are and get the vacuum reassembled very easily/quickly.

Hi, great video but I'm still trouble shooting. I looked over a Dyson Total Clean vacuum, new hose, filters look good, no apparent obstructions in any of the hoses nor wand nor in the roller bar area itself. I'm not getting suction thru roller bar area nor at the hose handle. When everything is removed and I turn it on the Motor sounds good and at the top of the ball is very strong suction & air exits the side where the filter attaches. I feel no suction where the roller bar attaches. I have tried both handle positions (upright & down) I am baffled cause I see no obvious issues, the part you mention in this video appears to be in working order. Do you have any other suggestions? I'm at a loss too 😕 Sounds like everything I would check, you checked. Dysons have 5 year warranties and even are reasonable to fix and pay if your outside the warranty period. I would reach out to them!

The internal flip hose assembly on my vacuum is broken. I called the Dyson service phone number today and was told that this part is not available for purchase by an owner of a Dyson vacuum. It can only be repaired at a Dyson Service Center.

I would check ebay if your Dyson is no longer under warranty. The 5 year warranty should cover any out of pocket expenses

The suction switch's just fine until it reaches a 45-degree angle, and then it switches back to the hose. I need it at a 45-degree angle in order to be able to use the base. Wth do I do? I already took it in to be repaired.🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

@@johnlevins98 This usually happens if there is an obstruction in the tube. Have you looked to see if anything is preventing it from going to the base? Is the seal damaged or warped?
