Hi guys!
I have had a few requests for how I deal with and cover the hidden objects in the Mythographic colouring books and especially how I successfully colour over the medium I have used to cover the hidden objects. In the video I share with you my easy hacks and the books I will use is the Fabiana Attanasio’s Mythographic Paradise - lots of hidden objects to tackle!
Hope you enjoy the video and find it useful!
Until next time…
Happy colouring!

Thanks for your excellent tutorial. I use Dr P H Martin, bleed proof white. Same as the Windsor & Newton ink. Thank you Shell❤❤❤

Thanks for doing this - I love the books, I think I have them all. Sometimes I use an eraser to remove some of the black before trying to hide the object. You have to be careful not to damage the paper.

Thank you! I need a fine brush, but in the mean time I’m trying out the Faber Castell Pitt pens in white, as they are also India Ink I’ll let you know how they do. I’m also using the Pitt pens for basing as I don’t have many Tombow

Hi Shelly, this is a very helpful video. It is difficult for me to color over Posca and this is a great alternative. I just recently got my Albrecht Durers and am trying to get a feel for them. Would you say you activate your pencils on every page, at least in some areas? Your work is so beautiful! I've learned a lot from you already and am looking forward to learning even more!

I just ordered the Winsor and Newton white ink. As I mentioned before, I ordered a different brand of ink (a bit more expensive), and it did not allow me to color over it. I really appreciate you showing the coloring over part as well. Thank you so much for doing this video, very helpful! Have a lovely weekend! 💖💖 Edit -- I just recieved my white ink. I tested it out and YES it is perfect to color over! This ink has a slight matte feel to it, no shellac or shiny filler. The previous ink I purchased had shellac or something in it - and was a bit shiny when dry, hence why I couldn't color over it. I did know that an ink with shellac would not be feasible to color over, but when I checked the ingredients and reviews it wasn't mentioned anywhere that I could see. A bit disappointing because it was a bit pricey, but I am happy to have purchased the Winsor and Newton. It definitely works much better. I also tried out numerous pencils over the ink. I found that Polychromos do not work as well over the ink. Prismacolor work ok, but not that great. I also tested out the Albrecht Durer, they worked well -- definitely had a different feel than the Polychromos over the ink. They seem to grasp the surface better in my opinion. The Polys felt a bit too scratchy, the Albrecht Durer did not feel like this. My favorite were the Pablo though. I thought they worked amazing over the white ink. The seem to glide and grasp the tooth quite well considering the ink is there. Of course, this is just my experience. Since everyone colors differently the results could vary from person to person, but I thought my results were worth mentioning. ☺

Oh thank you for this info, it definitely helps!! I am so glad the Winsor & Newton ink worked for you, and I am so sorry the pricey option you have gone for did not really work. Thanks for giving me the feedback, I just recently got the Pablos, so I will definitely try them out too to see what I think. Thank you! 🤗💗

Hi Shelly, you always have brilliant ideas or tips and tricks, and I really appreciate this idea. I think I will take a picture of the page before I white out the hidden objects, then I after I white out I can go back to the picture I took and see what was there before I used the white paint and then I can draw in the missing lines lol, does that make sense? Shelly, even though this video is in real time, please don’t worry about how good it is because your videos are always excellent and I always learn something from you. It’s amazing how you hid the objects. I really appreciate you and your videos. Thank you so much.🤗💖

I haven't tried it yet.. but I did find a Faber Castell white india ink pen at the store yesterday and picked it up to try. It's supposed to be opaque and is felt tip. The one I got was a calligraphy nib because it was sold singly and I wanted to try just one, but they had a four pack with multiple other nibs. I'd be very curious if anyone has tried the PH Martin Bleedproof white if it's more opaque than the Windsor Newton white ink? I feel like good white pens are a very needed gap in the art market. I would adore an actual opaque white Micron.

I have used the FC white calligraphy and Brush pens I got singly from Cult Pens. They are a little yellow so work very well on the creamier papers. When dry I scratch with my fingernail to remove any lumpy bits

I wish they would republish these books without the objects, they have obviously heard our pleas with the changes to the new books but I for one would buy them all if they fixed the old ones. It would be very easy to digitally correct them prior to printing.
