My TV instantly recognized everything and asked me if I would like to setup 4K/VRR. Add to that the awesome UI and streaming apps, I don't regret paying a premium for this TV at all and expect to get a ton of use out of it for years to come.

deinelty possible on a windows machine.. i do it... have my pc output 4k to my tv, and another hdmi output on my 1080 goes to my now outdated 1080p HT reciver... disable the video signal, and just send the audio in the nvidia settings
@ThoolooExpress
@ThoolooExpress 5 жыл бұрын
@@shawnpepin7890 Did not know Nvidia drivers supported that, interesting. I have heard horror stories of having to mirror displays because without specific support from the drivers HDMI ports get totally disabled if they don't have a video signal assigned to them. Still, would be nicer if it were on the motherboard, so GPU agnostic, and also appeared on windows as a straight audio device.

For anyone wanting to get into these, a couple of recommendations: There is almost NO difference between the B9 and the C9 in specs, they have the same image processing and the same input capabilities, and use the same panels. I haven't yet found a single compelling reason to get a C9 instead of a B9, unless you want 77 inches (B9 caps out at 65" in my region at least). The B9 is significantly cheaper (65" model is 1700€ here vs. 1900€ for the C9), and IMO the stand is much, much better (I daily a B7, and had a C7 on loan for a while while a small issue on mine was being taken care of, from what I've seen the stands on both are still the same in the 9 models). The massive metal slab on the C-models eats up way more desktop space, and also reflects stuff on the screen in a distracting way. When connecting to a computer, first things you do are turn on not just Instant Game Response, but also HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Color for your chosen input, and go into the Inputs selection and change the input's "Icon" to PC. Both of these can not only affect what kind of options you get in the display settings on your PC, but usually also reduce input lag compared to other settings, noticeably. In the other settings, you will want to turn all Eco modes, "super resolution", motion enhancement, sharpness exaggerators, dynamic brightness etc. off. The TV looks stunning running without those things, at most those tend to make the image more inconsistent, and at worse they can all increase lag.

C9 deals with micro blocking and black crush better, it has a faster operating system and the E9 has all this and a really good soundbar built in. Owned all 3 and the b9 is a bit worse, not massive amounts but a little bit worse.
@uzeeinc
@uzeeinc 5 жыл бұрын
The only real difference is that the B9 is using a slightly older generation processor and it gets firmware updates a bit later so certain fixes to image processing issues or enhancements end up a couple of months later on the B series compared to the C series.

Linus I commented on this with the older video on the Asus BFG. I will say it again. JUST ENABLE A SECOND MONITOR! (Extended desktop mode, not mirror for ease of compatibility). Connect a second monitor from your graphics card to your A/V receiver and set it as the default audio output. You with then have FULL HD AUDIO and your main display will simply have no audio. STOP USING ARC. You will thank me. P.S. Make sure your using at least 720p on the secondary output to your reciever to allow for HD audio bitstreaming. PROFIT LINUS!

From my understanding, analog audio is still the best way to avoid audio lag. For my surround sound system and HTPC (also a gaming rig), I've got the 3.5mm jacks on the integrated audio card going to the multi-channel input on my receiver where each channel has its own RCA port. That way I get dedicated surround sound channels and no extra lag display and receiver chaining. 2 places you could experience lag: - PC -> Receiver -> TV for video. - PC -> TV -> Receiver for audio. Going from PC -> TV and PC -> receiver directly in both cases seems to be the best way to have the least input lag. So ASUS having DisplayPort-only on that TV still makes sense especially for gaming rigs (unless your receiver doesn't support multi-channel input).
@nintendomaniac64
@nintendomaniac64 5 жыл бұрын
I don't know if this is still the case for the 2019 OLEDs, but on older models you could set the input label to "PC" and be able to achieve low input lag while still using ISF Expert picture modes.

@graeme2539
@graeme2539 5 жыл бұрын
If you set the label to PC you actually lose the ability to select ISF on that input. Makes sense now why ISF sent the input lag through the roof, the input was not tagged. But this does bring up one very important detail, since selecting game in the picture type does set the input lag to 13ms anyway. Why on earth would you ever select PC for the input, when I'm watching recorded content it would be nice to have the option of selecting ISF rather than removing the option entirely. I think I'm going to remove the PC tag on my B9 now, thanks for the awesome realization 😆

@raknikmik Optical does in fact support lossless audio, just not for surround sound (I have no idea what audio setup Linus is using). For just plain old stereo optical can do 192KHz 24bit uncompressed LPCM. This also means that TrueHD audio does not matter if you are indeed running stereo since the source device can instead just uncrompress the audio signal on-the-fly to raw LPCM instead for your receiver.

I have a few questions: 1)What do u think about OLED burn?, can this TV handle gaming sessions for a long durations? 2)How does this TV handle reflections for games like RE 2(Resident evil 2) and watching horror movies. 3)Samsung has Q90R which has freesync instead of G-sync, and I've heard it has the best anti-reflective coating for any TV. Could u please give your opinion on it(I would really like a gamer's perspective).

1. This one actually bothers me and I'm really careful about it with my OLED. Games that have a consistent always on HUD I tend to play on my LED downstairs. I've seen a lot of forums of people who don't ever game on it, to people who say they play on it all the time. Rarely do I see actual, video game burn in on these forums (I actually can't recall an instance in which someone has posted burn-in from a specific game being played too long). Sometimes a little image retention and I've also seen posts of people who leave their menu screen up for long periods of time getting it. I think LG is pretty good with their pixel refresher. 2. So bright reflections are hard to deal with in my opinion. When my OLED was downstairs, and the windows were open, dark scenes are hard to watch. I cannot contrast this to a QLED as I haven't seen them in a bright room. I did play all of RE2 on my OLED though and it was awesome, I now have my OLED located in my office, where I have blackout curtains to transform the room into a theater though. Lastly, I can't really comment on 3, but I've watched movies on both (my dad has a QLED) and I prefer my OLED for movies (the perfect black levels are un-matched). Gaming wise though you really do have to weigh that con of running the risk of burn-in. In my honest opinion though, unless you are running them side by side, I think you'll be satisfied with the quality of either for gaming. If you are in a pretty bright room though, you really might want to consider a QLED.
@ruigesero
@ruigesero 5 жыл бұрын
1) There are a ton of burn in tests on KZbin and you would have to set it to max brightness and let it run for weeks at a time. 4) Yes. The anti reflection coating is the best on Samsung. So if you have a living room that is always bright like a football stadium, don't get an oled. But this is the TV of my dreams. I've seen it live. There is nothing like this at the moment. Especially if all you do is Netflix, watch 4k BluRays and gaming on your TV.

I’m a heavy gamer and even my 10 year old Plasma survived extreme gaming sessions and even 900 plus hours of the same multiplayer games. I upgraded to the C9 without hesitation. LG has excellent software options to reduce the risk of burn in. There is a pixel shift feature, an option to let the AI Auto dim static images like logos or health bars and most important a pixel refresh algorithm that runs in standby after long gaming sessions. The only downside is that you have to keep it plugged in for that and can’t disconnect it to save energy. There is also a difference between burn in and image retention, and true burn in is only a problem in extreme conditions, but it is not impossible. If you want an example for such conditions head over to Rtings and watch their burn in test. LG OLEDs have the best anti glare coatings of any current TV out there, but if you game during the day in a sunlit room you will see your reflection in the TV in dark scenes. That is the price you’ll have to pay for excellent true black levels and OLEDs simply can’t match the extreme brightness of LCD displays, but if you have the money for an oled, blackout curtains shouldn’t break the bank. That said I’m running my C9 at only 50% OLED light brightness in the evening and reflections aren’t a thing even with all my lamps turned on, not even in dark scenes. The C9 doesn’t support freesync but it does offer 120 HZ VRR which works like a charm with the Xbox One X and I suppose any future HDMI 2.1 device will support VRR as well.
