I've been following your post on expectation Vs experience(or reality) . You've summed it up pretty well and my experience for the last 4 years has also been very similar to yours. In addition , I am still recovering from the aftermath of "Nivar cyclone" which uprooted most of my trees and even live fence. Bottom line is . Nothing is guaranteed , be it crops or trees. The fundamental question then is ... Why does one engage in farming.? If its primarily for "food", then there is plenty of scope of being successful. if "Alternate source of income" happens to one of the expectations ... then the reality is it would turn out to be alternate source of expense ;-) . (at least for the first 3 years). People like you and me have at least got our hands dirty and have experienced what it takes to grow food. However , The vast majority (who are interested) have either no clue or think they know everything ;-). After struggling for a while, to find the purpose of putting in all the hard work, I've settled with "re-generative farming". Which is simple terms is we give more (to soil) than what we get in return. You might reach there some day .... as I did. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hi. I found your channel a few days back when I was doing a lot of research about buying agricultural land and starting farming myself. Really great information you have been putting out. Really appreciate that you are so honest. Saw in your video that you have been fighting weeds. 1. Ananda permaculture farms makes raised beds on a think sheet of news paper. This prevents weeds from germinating. 2. Organic mandya uses similar techniques but they have used a layer of cardboard box and hey below their beds. 3. Zytuna farms mulch their entire land with hey upto 3 inches high. They just make a seedling size hole in their mulch and plant the seedling. This too prevents germinating of weeds. You can borrow paddy or other crop straws from your neighbours and use it for mulch in your own farm. But if you have the budget you can use wood chips for mulch as they take up to a year to decompose and your farm wont need frequent mulching. 4. Solitude farm in aurovill uses black velvet bean plant for their benefit. Since you don't cultivate during rainy season, you can use those months to grow black velvet beans. They are nitrogen fixing and also at all green manure + mulch. You can just chop and drop them before sowing your seedlings. I hope these help. All the best! Keep the videos coming.

Thanks for your detailed inputs and time. 🙏 Explored and tried few of them . But our approach is giving good results . The following are the methods we tried out to control /manage weeds. Continuous plowing, manually weeding , continues cultivation, allowing plants to settle as compost after harvest is over .

Good input sago!! Even aananda has bought big woodchip making machine to use for mulch Either u go complete organic, give back more to nature than exploiting it, or dont. One of the team (Zytuna farms), u mentioned is new to me..thanks again

Very good and Frank input. Coming from a farmer's family I could understand his words. Agriculture is a zen like relentless and selfless job. Sun or rain you have to work day in and day out. Variables that you do not have control are very high. Pay back from agriculture is very very less. Give a big salute to farmers whenever you eat food. Hardwork of each farmer is huge. So do not waste food.

Whatever this brother has said (I have read subtitles) is 100% true. I have been into organic farming full time for past 1 year. My experience 1. This work is labour oriented. 2. Farms are away from city area of residence. 3. Pest control is super difficult if crops planted wrong time. 4. Don't waste lot of money on fancy tools. 5. It takes almost 1-2 years of practical experience on farm to even understand it. 6. Organic/natural farming is not just about the things people say in various videos. It's a lifestyle sir. For farming, you need to be present at farm everyday. 7. Don't get fascinated by idea of leaving job and making lakhs per month by seeing youtube videos. 8. Almost 90% information about these topics is fake on KZbin.

Hi RamKumar, I am highly inspired by your experiments. I have also started a lot of farming activities recently as a passion away from corporate life, more towards edible forest concept. Short term cultivations seems to be challenging with the available time, hence the focus on edible forest concept. Right now, I am doing 2 layers farming, need to increase further towards 5 layers(slow progress). You are doing a great job in sharing your experiences and inspiring like minded people. It would be great to connect with you sometime and speak at length

Thank you for your honest post. Pest control.. You need know the right time and situation to use it. If you do it on right time it will give better result. That's why we need to go around the farm daily to identify any change or disease symptoms. Yes. on right season and geography only some vegs and fruits will yield it's nature or you can create that environment which will cost much and need some experiment. Just my thoughts...

But in natural farming pest repellent s will be used. And will do inter crops that invite predators and the eco system exist s.organic farming is just a marketing gimmic
