You definitely have faced huge challenges with weeds. Have you heard of ‘No dig method’? It involves covering the piece of land with large pieces of cardboard layers for few weeks. This stops the sunlight reaching the weeds and they die. You can then top up the cardboard layers with more soil and grow plants. Or just remove the cardboard and the weeds come out easily with roots as they are practically dead. This probably is too late for you as you have already tried other methods. In future you probably could deal with small areas in turn. Here we use weed retardant fabric to cover the earth before planting. It lets water through but keeps light out and works very well with larger plants like pumpkins and aubergines etc but not for spinach. Good Luck and please don’t give up. Subscribed today and will follow your progress with interest.

Few tips: Don't worry about the weeds too much. It's a sign that your land is fertile. Remove them periodically if you see too many. Examine the cow dung or manure used. Sometimes, seeds of the weeds come from there also. Reuse the beds+drip+mulching sheets+basal dose batch for 2-4 crops before making new beds. Have a composting set up and use your own manure if possible once you have enough timber trees for dry leaves. 👍🏻

If you are going to use lights in farm area use yellow light to avoid insect problems at night. Just paint the bulbs with yellow paint spray can would be the best for this. Also hang a bright white light outside of the house so you can distract the insects to outsid of the house not inside. Also note where ever their is large amounts of insects those snakes would attempt to get same place. Also if are over watering the snakes would become there regularly to hydrate and cool. Very normal. One trick you can do is buy rock salt in large quantities put a thick 4 to 6 inch wide line of salt around the property. This way if snakes to crawl into the property they will know that SALT will dehydrate them and they would possibly go away. After a few times. Plus's it would not harm any other pests.

Agreed sir. Did that 2-3 times . But was not able to control "korai" a type of weed .

Sir , regarding the korai grass , you can prepare your own weedicide , take 15 litres of cow urine it should be atleast 3 or 4 days old , 3 kg of rock salt , two lemon , mix all these together and use a new sprayer , it should not be used with chemicals , in three or four days it will die off because of the acidic effect , try this sir

What a coincidence. I started my agro farming with same thought process. Trees didn't grow ss expected, but striving other means. Wanted to live in mud house, but due to non availability of skill labour, resorted to thatched house same like yours. I stay there with all insects indeed, but got used to. Still fertilizing the land organically, by putting couple of sheep to eat weeds, and now hen to clean weed. Planning to invest on power weeder as labour are expensive like US here in remote Tamilnadu 😂. My aim is still to make agro farming naturally and live self sustainable.
