My Experiences with Deities: Freyja

I seeked out Freya in the beginning of my practice and there were a lot of times I didn't think she was there or that I was annoying her. When I'd make contact she'd kind of speak to me in almost riddles. I remember when I first made contact I asked if she'd like an offering and she kept saying Rose's. I was like ok, cool, I'll buy you some roses. They're associated with her and love so I thought that's what she wanted. She shows me images in my mind more than anything, so I just sat there closed my eyes and it was me walking, seeing some roses and going over to smell them. I was still confused. Anyway later, I don't remember why, but someone told me to stop and smell the roses, and it just clicked. The first major lesson I had from her was practicing gratitude and finding the beauty in things, living in the now. This was a very hard time I was struggling with and I was just not happy about my situation. It sounds small and silly but I've gained so much from that and it was like over a year ago. She's taught me to take my power back by focusing on what I can control and making beautiful moments in less desired circumstances. I've told her I want to be so much like her, and she was like no, I'm going to show you how to be the best you. Then just heavy shadow work, through my shadow work she helped me realize abilities I naturally have, including "shape shifting." Which was actually a defense mechanism I used growing up because I had to wear multiple hats, but that's another long post. She showed me how I can take something like that and use it to my advantage like in "glamour." I love her. Same thing with my cats. I get freaked out because when I light her candle and want to go in my mind to communicate with her, It's hard because my cat will jump up and I'm scared he'll knock it over. But whenever I pray to her, my cats surround me or get on top of me, or all up on my altar. She isn't momma energy, I actually would love to work with that type of energy because I don't have an actual mother. I don't know who yet. She comes and goes for me. But yeah she brings lessons of empowerment and self love for sure

My experience is similar. I asked the gods for guidance when I felt disconnected and she came in to my life. She showed me to take care of myself better. To do the small things as an act of devotion to the gods. The gods are a part of you so to take care of yourself is to take care of the gods.

I'm so excited that you've started this series. The Morrigan is my patron goddess and I had my first (recognizable) contact with Cernunnos literally during watching one of your older videos. I actually just bought a green candle for him today that won't light and then found your Tiktok about the same exact thing happening, lol. The red candle I bought for The Morrigan is burning merrily along and I feel like she might be a little smug about it!

Weird question but how do you figure out what your patron gods and goddesses are?

@@daniellac.7588 I think it's different for everyone, but I personally used divination to help. I did a pendulum reading to ask whether they were patrons or just visiting. I received animal signs and vivid dreams shortly after, as well as constantly finding feathers on the ground after not seeing feathers for years (Google has some mixed info about this but I believe it to basically be a confirmation that you're on the right path). I also received messages pertaining to each deity when I read my first oracle cards.

I followed a Native American ritual a while back asking for my spirit animal/guide to manifest into my dreams and it worked. I'm guessing if I did something similar in that context it would work too. Then one day, a very clear image of a woman with blond hair appeared in my mind, and I had never seen an image of her beforehand. I started reaching out to freyja starting yesterday, ever since i was little i felt a pull to her for no apparent reason, and recently ive had a strong desire to begin deity work and worshipping her. Id been searching for some kind of confirmation that she accepted me and my alter and today as i left for an appointment, i randomly checked my phone and the song Fehu (by wardruna) was playing. I didnt hear it on my phone at all, just suddenly looked, and music shouldnt have been playing in the first place. For some reason i felt a pull to check the lyrics, even though they werent in english, and the specific highlighted lyrics the song was on at the time i checked (it was paused) and translated it. The lyrics, one of the only verses that were translated fully to English, said "i watch in secret." And it goes deeper. The specific time the song was on was 555, and as i checked the meaning of 555, it told me spiritual guidance ❤

I don't work with Freyja, but I experience signs from Bastet since weeks but I was never 100% sure if it's really her who's reaching out to me. Even if she literally sent me a bee into the house while I watched your video on deity communication today to tell me she wants honey. Long story short; I never felt her presence as strong as while watching this video, it felt like she's standing right behind me giving me a gentle head pat and 10 minutes later you mentioned her name. I tried automatic writing and at first I thought it was Freyja coming through but it turned out to be Frigg, but these two deities seem to have a lot in common and some even speculate they were once seen as the same goddess. Frigg helped me a lot on my self love journey as well. I remember her as being very stern and mother-like but also caring.

Freya came into my life recently. I actually was forced into doing rune divination to find out who was calling to me lol. I wasn’t really good with runes but felt drawn to use that and spent the morning figuring it out. Turns out it was her. She came in with this like… nature presence almost? But beautiful and elegant sides of nature. And it was overwhelming. So I was really confused and she kinda made me figure it out. It was like a riddle. I saw someone else commented about how she communicates in riddles and I totally understand that. Hel did a similar thing where I had to dive deeper into different mythologies to figure out who was reaching out in her case but it wasn’t as difficult as Freya. Just a few days after bringing Freya in after I’ve really been trying to learn how to set boundaries, I was thrown into a situation with my dad where I had to set a boundary and learn to be firm about it. It was hard but I learned from it and I have a sneaking suspicion she was involved in that 😂 I also see cats ALL THE TIME and my cat who passed away visits me. I had a suspicion the sheer number of cats, especially the way they just naturally trusted me might mean something but I wasn’t sure. Now it all kinda makes sense after bringing her in lol With each deity that’s come into my practice, it’s been different. It really shows their individuality tbh

I believe they are the same diety known to different cultures. This is the case in a lot of situations. Enlil = Zeus = indra = haddu, ect (gods of Jupiter) And, Ea Enki = Odin = Shiva = Prometheus = Quetzalcoatl, ect gods of mercury.

Your amber story made me want to ask you about how you feel about offerings you already own. Do you buy new or do you recycle? How do you feel about cleansing something you already own as a deity offering? Or do you need a new energy exchange of some sort? I’m sure sometimes you know something is right.

Absolutely amazing question. With some offerings, I actually will pass them onto other practitioners that are working with that deity or are in the realm of that pantheon. Certain offerings as well, like rocks, bark, sticks, etc, I give back to the land if/when the deity leaves. I do a lot of cleansings with certain objects, especially things like tarot cards, crystals, etc, but with certain things (Like Freyja's amber) the energy of the deity feels very tied to the object. I actually keep that amber piece because it reminds me of Freyja. A lot of her other offerings, like the Gold and Black Tarot, a jawbone with her name on it, were sent to others who were interested in it! I feel like it's all up to you, as well. Certain objects tend to stick around, whether they get cleansed and repurposed or sat aside as a fond memory. Others will move onto where they belong next. Hope this helps!

Holy shit. This video brought me to tears. More than half of your experiences align with me. I first encountered freyja when I was in a HORRIBLE relationship I couldn’t leave. She gave me strength. A red tail hawk is my messenger from her and she has brought me back to my ancestors. She pushed me to learn how to love myself unconditionally and to go into therapy so I could heal and fully love myself. I’m so in awe at how similar of experiences we’ve gone through. It just solidified to me that it is in-fact her. She is my patron deity and I feel so much love for and from her. She makes me feel strong and rooted to my history. I’ve never made an offering bowl because I didn’t consider myself anything other than a witch, but now I’m a Norse pagan green witch. And I’ve been learning Swedish, the native tongue of my ancestors. Unfortunately there is not a lot of credible sources on seidr, but I would love to fully learn and understand.

Something I learned in my studies is that Freyja is often touted as a Goddess who rules warriors of the ships. This could be land, sea, and air ships. Air Force, Navy, or Army mech units. Also, transportation like boats, airlines, trains, bus, etc. Even if you're not a military type, Freyja could be a great help to work with for those in mass / public transit careers.

Wow awesome video!!!Im seeing more and more signs from freyja recently. A few months ago I had a mediation and heard her name, and I kinda just put that in the back of my mind, I then started to see her show up all over social media so I started reading about her and watching videos to get to know her better. I then did a goddess Oracle reading and she showed up there as well. And as of yesterday I saw two hawks. I never see hawks, especially near my work, this morning as I was driving into work I only saw the one hawk this time. I saw the same hawk as I left to go home for the day as well. I work with Freyja as well, and have experienced a lot of the same things. She actually came to me in a very low period of my life, I was dealing with very bad depression. She's helped me get my a** in gear and has helped me care for myself. I tend to see a lot of rabbits when she's around. Like really.....so...many.....rabbits. Flowers will also just randomly bloom overnight, off season. In my experience, she's firm but fair. As far as her presence, its....it's big.. Shes like "Hello! I am here! I have arrived!" She's not "no nonsense" in the way of being strict, but she will be on you to get your stuff done. The things she tends to like from me are honey jars (not the spell, literally a jar of honey with some chamomile tea mixed in). Loved this video! Can't wait to hear more from you!!

Wow!!! I asked if it was really her, the things I have been experiencing and then I was led to your video!! 🤯❤ The same things have been happening to me lately! I went to find a small piece of Amber but there weren't any, so I had to get a big chunk. Keep in mind, all of this was before I knew it was Freya reaching out. My cat, which was a gift from her when my son found the kitten in a live trap, he has been sleeping with me lately. I was at a friend's house and a stray cat jumped on the outside windowsill and was staring at me. 🤣 I was led about a month ago to start using honey in my tea instead of sugar. I was recently told by a Reiki practitioner that I had a dark Angel that stays behind me, and Freya has been coming into my meditations right before someone I know dies. ❤❤❤ I am being led to help souls on the other side and She wants to teach me. ❤❤❤ Thank you for sharing! I’ll say this, I was super stressed about reaching out to Freyja and I was nervous with Hekate and stepping on toes. I had a few questions that I couldn’t find any answers for. So I sat down today to watch videos that I’ve saved on connecting with Freyja and here you are with answers to my questions back to back and in the bloody order as I had then in my mind🤣😁 I stopped the video a few times and just broke out crying(happy tears) I got a bit emotional. After watching this video all the way I realized she was reaching out to me before I even knew I needed her🥹 Even down to her name being flashed to me like a neon flashing sign, my friend named her puppy Freya. I never knew hawks were a messenger bird for freyja, my mothers house has TONS of them and other birds of prey and I always said good morning to them when I walked to school, not really trying to talk to any specific diety just saying hello to the birds themselves. "People talk to their pet cats so why would birds be any different" is what I thought. If I had known it probably would have been more than a simple "good morning"

Freyja has always been special to me, often forming part of my identity online. (I"m half Scandinavian.) I used to have a hawk visitor too - and once had a sparrowhawk sitting on my front wall (mostly eyeing my birds, I think, but we can think positively!) I haven't done a lot of work *with* Freyja, though I'm working on changing that now - as I think she's been hinting that it would be nice. (Especially when I found a St. Lucia statuette that I realized was another guise of Freyja.) A number of years ago, Quan Yin came into my life through a figurine first - and has been a part of my life ever since. Again, I haven't done a lot of specific work with her, though I call on her when I need help - or simply comfort. She's more of a mother figure, after all. (And I've found she has the same aura as Mother Mary - I believe them to be one and the same.) Brighid is another one who is special to me, so I might need to work with her more. Then there was a vision I had once of a goddess that I later identified as one of the Finnish goddesses. That one is harder to research so far. Thank you for this series - I shall have to look for your others.

The way our allignment works is we treat every god or goddess like a friend our family, my current matron deity is probably Hekate,Nyx or Athena(I currently worship 8 or so gods) Freya came into my life in a time where I am not in the greatest at self care and as soon as I accepted her in just the urge to care for myself even if I dont want to, deity work is tiring yet encouraging

I know that deity work is for more advanced people. But she was in my spiritual awakening so that’s how I got to know her. She is (errr was until I accidentally took a break) teaching me respect for myself and for deities

These past two years I’ve been getting visions of the future. Small things, either in my sleep or myself telling a story that will happen. Then last July a friend got kittens who needed homes. On the way home from adopting one of her kittens, we needed a name. Freyja came to me. Now she yells at me to give her attention, love and care. She was lonely so we got her brother (liter mate) Odin was the only name that my boyfriend and I felt was right.

This was a fantastic video and I can't wait for the rest of the series, especially Cernunnos, although I will definitely be researching his other names that you mentioned (now that I have the spelling lol). Freyja fascinates me and I definitely plan to research her and hopefully worship her eventually, although I need to figure out what the situation is with the entities I've felt recently first. I have a friend who is in desperate need of this kind of sword and shield for a battle she's currently losing, to the extent that I'm thinking of reaching out and asking Freyja for a favor (with appropriate offerings and honouring of course)... I have only done deity worship before, never deity work... Research first, regardless.

Regarding Hekate not being a motherly goddess, it all depends on which aspects of the goddess you focus on. She was originally called upon as a protector during birth for example, and one of her epithets is literally "protector of children". She is the key bearer which was also a motherly role. She is a guardian of lost souls and actively seeks out people who have been cast out from society to give them protection and strength. And i feel thats pretty motherly in its own way.

With how they describe Freya is how I see Athena, Athena is like "Child do this now or you will fail" and its like ahh. As for parental deities I see Hekate or Nyx or even Hestia as parental deities which is lovely

This video made me realize how often Freyja was trying to talk to me, since I have always been kind of followed by cats and birds. ( Like since I was 10 ) My mom also really liked Freyja and would talk about her a lot since she also very connected to her. Our heritge is very Norse so it makes since why a norse goddes would call out to us a lot.

she came to me a bit ago and i was starting to work with her and getting her altar together, but ultimately we had to agree to work together at a later date. i’ve just gotten into deity work and i knew about loki before her. i didn’t want to juggle too much. plus i’m very sensitive to loki’s energy in comparison to her’s. she was okay with it, but it did make me sad. i adore her.
