Teak sailboat owner here ! To restore teak : 1. Sand the teak 2. Bleach the teak (a bit of bar keepers friend in water, then scrub the wood, let sit for 15 min and rince very very well. It makes all the wood color even again.) 3. Apply teak oil (you have to reapply at least once a year) or teak sealer (reapply ever 2-3 years) 😊

It looks like a boutique hotel bathroom. I’m always amazed at how important it is to see a project through to the end to see the whole vision come together. I mean, I know it’s been planned out and the concept is solid, but there is always that awkward “not quite done yet” phase where everything looks a bit 🤔 and then all of a sudden it all comes together and looks so good!! That lighted mirror seemed to instantly add that sparkle and hit of glam. I love all the wood and the way that floor added personality and character and kept the room from looking too modern for the overall aesthetic of the house. Job well done! You both must be SOOOO happy it’s finally done!!

I live in England. I have a dual fuel towel rail in my bathroom. It comes on with the gas fired central heating in winter. In summer it’s electric only and comes on at pre-set times as it has a timer. English summers aren’t always warm and the towels are always dry. I have an electric only one with a timer in my downstairs toilet.
@mandymoe64939 ай бұрын
I grew up having heated towel racks where we actually used them. I loved having a warm room and warm towels and clothes after a shower. In my first apartment I had no heating at all which I think set me up for the following. In my second apartment it was the only heating source in the bathroom and linked to central heating. It took way too long to heat the (big) bathroom so we would have had to had it running at all times which we decided was too expensive so we never turned it on. In our current apartment it's a plug in one in addition to our floor heating. We don't use it here either. It's nice to have but in my opinion not worth it. I rather shower hot and use the cold room as an opposite to get my body working like others walk in the snow after a sauna haha
@KarMa-ws3ll9 ай бұрын
yes but its an actual heater with water running through it ( I have one, its part of the central heating system)

24:26 Not sure you'll see this, but biggest game changer in both my showers was little stone rounded shelves in the corners. They're attached with silicone and they are sturdy as can be... I have photos but my tiler did them for 100$ a shower (2 shelves) and they have a tiny slope to keep water from collecting and they are 10/10. Hope you see this. Stools are great but the shelves are the best to keep things drying out. Ps I'm in Ottawa so definitely Canada approved Pps theyre nice and slim and i didnt need to design around them. I put them in one shower like 6 years after... After struggling with sticky shelves and hanging storage for years

*Modern, Earthy, Organic* . A beautiful space to start or end the day in. The cedar was a super smart choice for the ceiling and I love the way Austin incorporated it into the door transition. Kudos to Rochelle on the vanities. Do monitor the feet on the teak stool in the shower for mold/mildew and squeegee those glass doors and tile EVERY time if hard water is an issue. Enjoy!

So gorgeous! From the tile floors to the ceiling to that VANITY that Rochelle made, it's all pulled together beautifully! If this were my bathroom, I wouldn't be able to resist adding many, many, MANY green leafy plants to the space. I don't know what the light situation is like, but it's so spa-like and so 70s that I think plants would be very welcome there.

If you're worried about drilling into the tiles in the shower, you can look into vertical tension rod shelves!!
@mandymoe64939 ай бұрын
I used one of those and had rust stains on the floor tile after just a few days. I had to scrub them multiple times and was so glad I got rid of them as it was a newly renovated rental... Luckily the landlord finally agreed to purchase a sticky shelf which we had no issue with for 2-3 years until we moved. I'm sure there are better vertical rods than mine but be aware of your purchase is what I'm trying to say.

More Becky and Austin projects please. I liked seeing the two of you working together on this bathroom renovation. It looked like so much work and you shared how realistic it is to have some big unexpected problems arise. For the teal floor tiles, they look amazing with the darker stain of the vanities, but the tiles make the cedar trim look WAY too yellow. It could just be how it's picked up by the camera. Maybe you would consider staining the cedar so it is less yellow. Just a suggestion.
