Shorse are almost as abundant as snakes where I live, I use snake-away for the snakes but have never been able to find an effective shorse repellant, I would love to give yours a try if sending some wouldn’t be too inconvenient for you.

@@phytosexual probably better for your sanity, and based on a few myths you have busted, your plants are better off too. Thanks to your videos, I have the latin name for 3 more of my plants now. Sadly, they will be needing to come in soonish (by the middle of October) and so will the pond... Goodbye living room. At least there will be less space to vacuum. 😏 As someone who does editing for a few channels, you are doing a brilliant job!

Don't worry about the shorse, apparently horse legs are poorly designed, break over nothing, and the entire creature dies as a result. To beat the shorse, break one of its legs far away from a body of water and watch it starve. My favorite hybrid would probably be a manatee with literally anything, that creature would make a great pokemon.

I am so excited for this video! I have to say that I greatly appreciate someone who also takes care of outdoor plants. I 100% feel you on the direct sunlight. Here in the NC piedmont the sun is more harsh than what you deal with in the NE but I still give almost everything direct sunlight. So jealous of your below 70 nighttime temps. (I buy distilled water, or use dehumidifier water, for my Nepenthes, spaths, and maranta family. ANYWAY I'm now watching for the second time, so I can document my favorite bits. 1. Grow your pothos behind the refrigerator 2. Nick going around the sun 3. "Lemonlerm" philodendron 4. Rhinoceros bark 5. Confused milkweed 6. Bale of turtles lecture 7. Encephalization quotient 8. Polyethylene bag of disappointment 9. UV light explanation 10. Hoya recipe 11. Cebu blue filters 12. Club mosses 14. Anthurium flower alliteration!!!! 15. the Proven Winners shade 16. Shorse - there's a bigger story to these, I can feel it 17. "Costa farmed" !!!!!! 18. Slap my knees and call me the milkman

@@phytosexual NC born and bred, left in the 92 because I like breathing my air and drinking my water. On one hand, it's almost impossible to not have success with orchids... 90% humidity is a low humidity day😬 On the other hand, succulents can rot without a dehumidifier. 🤷‍♂️ The Outer Banks? Totally worth it if you can afford to live there. Minimal snow, and most of NC is far more affordable than almost anywhere in NY, except maybe Gates. Pacify Northwest is fabulous, west of the Cascades. Of course, I grew up in moisture, so now I am balancing things out with 3% to 11% humidity. Even sphagnum moss dries out pretty quickly.

My favorite animal hybrids are the pizzly bear and grolar bear. Pizzly bears are when you have a male polar bear mate with a female grizzly bear. The animal gets the p from the polar bear because when they're naming animals they get the 1st part of their name from their male parent and the 2nd part of the name from the female parent. The opposite of a pizzly bear is the grolar bear which is the offspring of a male grizzly and female polar bear. Animals aside, the hoya imperialis has blooms like they were painted on. They look like ART

@@phytosexual Just to add on from "tradescantia," my partner and I went to London a couple of weeks ago as I won a free ticket for the VIP Gala Opening of the ABBA Voyage concert (where I met Benny from the group), and we decided to go to Kew Botanical Gardens in Richmond via a Thames River Cruise from Westminster Pier by the Houses of Parliament, which was all wonderful for me as a kidney patient to do and see. However, during the boat cruise we were pointed out some historical places of interest, and one was the former residence of a famous botanist called Tradescant, who I can only assume the plant tradescantia is named after, the same as fuchsia is named after a man called Fuchs. Some plants hide interesting facts! 🌿

Hi Nick, just found your channel this week. Loving the care tips and the sense of humor. I've been growing plants ever since I can literally remember myself and recently I've started getting into Hoyas. I was wondering if there's a way to tell if they're a climber, or not, before they become gargantuan. I recently got A tiny Hoya Chelsea, Hoya Compacta and Hoya Eskimo. Eskimo and Compacta I'm almost certain is more of a hanging plant but Chelsea seems like it could go either way. Thanks in advance!

I always love your videos and this one was especially hilarious. I gave away my Nanook’s, 2 of them! I also let my Mosaic die of dehydration, well I have one leaf left, but still not sure if I will keep it. Glad to see you again!

I live in Minnesota and my Hoya Sunrise is in my south facing bay window and it’s beautifully sun stressed. I think I need to move my cebu blue closer to a southern window for the winter. I got mine as a clipping last year also. It’s gotten 5 times the size but not as big as yours. I should probably repot my Calathea Musica too! And good lord my anthurium is definitely not growing like yours. It grows so slowly. Takes ages to push out a leaf. Same for the Forgetii. I moved them to my IKEA cabinets so hopefully that will help. Just goes to show different strokes for different plants.

It's not hard, they like direct sun for fast growth, make sure they dry out between watering because they have succulent roots.

Ive become a huge fan of your videos! Im curious, specifically on your bird of paradise here, how are your leaves such a dark shade of green? I dont mean to sound rude at all but is it partially your lighting/color grading or are they really that dark?
@phytosexual

Probably my lighting, but generally they should be a forest green.

I'm assuming you bring in that Tree Fern for the winter, I'm on the lookout for one, because of how amazing yours is. Have you done a video on it and it's care before? I know it gets little featurettes in a lot of your videos, but would love to see more of it! Glad you finally got your BOP, I turned them down at Lowe's and Walmart so many times and I kick myself for it because I really want a white one, but yesterday I found a yellow one online! And not like it matters, they'll probably never bloom for me, but I live in NC, so there is a chance and I love yellow flowers!
@phytosexual
@phytosexual 3 жыл бұрын
From what I hear the yellow ones have smaller leaves and the plant will look different in form overall. I’ll try to make something about it, I use no special soil and they tolerate a wide variety of light and temperature levels.
