I remember that my dad read this book to me all the time when I was little. I think my grandfather also read it to him. Seeing that this story that has been read in my family for at least two or three generations is getting an animated movie on Netflix fills my heart with so much joy. It looks absolutely beautiful and adorable. I love the way the dragon looks, especially. Knowing that this movie is going to be animated by the same people that animated wolfwalkers gives me a lot of confidence that it's going to be spectacular. I can't wait. :)

Im so happy Im crying right now. This was and still is one of my favorite books! The voices are perfect, the character design is perfect, the animation is gorgeous! I wouldn’t have any other studio working on it. It looks like the story is going to be a little bit different then the book, but that makes sense considering the original format and content. And what matters most is it seems like the heart is still there. The tigers, the gorilla, the crocodiles- I hope the mouse and tortoises are still there, and also Tangerina. And also the rope is still there too. I wonder if we’ll just stay on wild island or if we’ll make it back to blueland. I doubt we’ll stop at canary island, but it would be cool if we did.

I hear what you're saying, when ever people take books and turn them into movies, they always intend to make the story way different than in the book. Just like they did with Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, the Tale of Despereaux, James and the Giant Peach, and the Chronicles of Narina. But like you said, what matters is that the heart is still there. I just hope this movie dose as good as Wolfwalkers.

For example, cloudy with a chance of meatballs the original book doesn’t really have a cinematic plot. The town of chew and swallow is just a fantastical,place where food falls from the sky, until one day it becomes dangerous and people had to leave. Each ‘chapter’ of the story (one or two pages) is a different day, each a new meal and the fun of how the people interact with the different meals. My father’s dragon is similar. The start and ending of the book could work as a cinematic story, but the middle follows that phase structure. Once Elmer gets to wild island he encounters and outsmarts one animal per chapter in a new and creative way with only his wits and the supplies in his knapsack. While It could be made into a movie 100% to the source material, I don’t think that would be a good movie the way it’s a good book. Another big change they must have made is having Boris meet Elmer way, way before he does in the book. If you have dragon in the title, its a little but of a bummer if you don’t get a lot of dragon in the movie, So Im glad they made this change too.

@@dreamguardian8320 Probably the biggest difference is how our main goal seems to be to save wild island from sinking instead of escape it. Originally, poor Boris was a slave to the animals of wild island, as they used him to ferry themselves across the river that splits the island in half. But now it seems they’re using him to keep the island from sinking. Im definitely OK with this right now, as it’s essentially the same detriment with a more altruistic option for Elmer and the dragon. The animals are still keeping him as a slave, so freeing him is just as important. But here’s the interesting part. In the book when the dragon is freed, the animals now no longer have their ferry(wich is just how it should be, they’re all serious jerks and never should have enslaved Boris) but now if Boris just escaped and never went back wild island would be wiped off the map. Its much more cinematic feeling stakes than the original without changing the setup or outcomes too much. (The absolute truth is that in the book they do leave the animals to implied die to be eaten by the crocodiles, at that point they couldn’t really have stopped that from happening, nor were they about to try to). Altho here is a key difference. Before the unjust system was imposed on the dragon by the animals. The cause of the dragon’s labor was annoying geography, but the animals still could have continued walking around the river’s end to not do slavery. With wild island sinking, the animals couldn’t have continued on the island without enslaving the dragon. And while slavery is still always wrong, the animals in the movie are a quite a but less jerky than the ones in The book in my eyes because of this.

Finally Cartoon Saloon reaches something easy to approach! I could barely see Wolfwalkers (and it's one of my fav movies now) cause of Apple being so not easy to reach. They want you to have apple products, and all that stuff basically- I am SO GLAD this one is coming to Netflix, more people can now enjoy Cartoon Saloon!
