For the gravel...use some pva-glue on the base somewhere and sprinkle it on, let dry and that way you add texture to the diorama.

Paul from NB Canada. Never say you "can't" do something!!! You never grow as a person until you try new things. I have been a modeller for decades but just past week built my FIRST Gundam! Take care

That's a pretty good deal for $20! The gravel is indeed for making the model more realistic. Using a clear-drying matte glue and taking a look at some reference images of destroyed buildings to get the distribution accurate would make it look very nice. Weathering is the most fun part of any diorama lol!

I grabbed the Tomytec 'demolition A' tall building from Amazon back in 2021 and wished that I would've bought more of them! Tomytec truly has an awesome line of destroyed buildings and regular ones as well!

Dioramas are my favorite. When we went to Odaiba, Tokyo to see the Gundam Unicorn they have a diorama of that same Gundam with the mall behind, a diaorama of the diorama. Btw Looking gorgeous by the day.

Just saying dude, as a guy who builds Dios, they're a skill, sure, but they're FAR less difficult then they look. I can build a dio at 1:12 skill faster than I can panel line a 1:12 scale kit. The first couple take time, but by your third or fourth piece, you learn the tools and the tricks, and the painting is gloriously forgiving. Just ro jump start you, a ton of terrain makers do through a progress called "black bombing" when they base coat everything in black primer before painting. Brown bomb terrain instead, use a burnt umber rather than black and you can skip an entire painting step next.

You can put the grit on a couple of ways, where you want it. I think the best way would be to sprinkle or pile it where you want it, then spray it with watered down pva glue and isopropyl alcohol (separately). The alcohol breaks the surface tension of the glue and lets it seep all through out the grit. Then let it dry and blow off the excess.

Tomytec has highly detailed 1/150 cars and buildings aimed towards N scale model railroading which I'd guess this is derived from. For people who hate painting these its a great time-saver although somewhat toylike.

I'm guessing you had to catch up with real life stuff like the whole job thing which pays the bills. As for the diorama, it looked good for the cost. For those who play table top role playing games or miniature games, such things are quite common to see and use. There are even some games which lets you "build" your own landscapes. In those set ups, there are often times rules governing the diorama and character interaction. For you, it would probably be fun to play around with when it comes to your photography. I would think some of your hobby\craft stores or maybe gaming stores would have more for you to buy. You may even have fun digging out your old toys from childhood and putting them in the diorama to get a better feel for the scale.

There's a weird dynamic going on there, like it appears to be about right scale wise but I can't help but feel it looks small. Moreso in width than height, but height too. I'm not sold 100% on dios anyways, despite that I make them. 😂 they eat up shelf space something fierce, and for every firm of model or figure collector, shelf space is a premium. Especially for detolf owners, I can't help but think a simple vinyl background print could be tacked up on the real wall, still let light through, but be cost and space effective to jazz up your display and give the figures an environment to be set in.

Nice looking Diorama. The powder is for the dust affect. So you use Mod Podge, spread some around the area you want the dust to be at and maybe some black wash to hight light some of the areas, and dry brush some concrete might enhance the model..here's a link of one of my gundam Dioramas I have done.kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJzZZ2imepVojqcsi=18LvW8H3AvFmjrQd
