Before transitioning to touch-typing without having to look at the keyboard, I did 2 finger hunt-and peck faster than that by at least a little. At 2r back in 95, I sat down one day with my manager to type up objectives, and suddenly he broke out laughing, and I had to ask him why: “I’ve seen people hunt-and-peck, but never so fast!” Shortly after that, I timed it at 42 wpm. I transitioned in the next year or so to touch-typing. For whatever reason(s) (last name starting with a late letter, or other things related to neurological limitations with poor motor planning, or dyslexia) while I tried all through junior high and high school to take a proper typing class, I was never able to take one. What’d I end up doing for a living? Coding, for the most part. Almost no symbols aren’t used on a regular basis. A couple years ago on a 15” 2016 MBP with the butterfly keyboard I informally timed my typing in IRC at 90 wpm when I knew what I wanted to type. I am slow in learning things that require motor coordination. A keyboard is far faster and less problematic than handwriting will ever be for me. I don’t understand this crazy need to go back to handwriting on computer screens, that’s horrible! Only use such things for drawing.

I spend a lot of money on keyboards as an mk enthusiast. They don't really change anything in regards to typing efficiency... maybe smoother switches, maybe better ergonomics. For the most part a board's design, sound, and sensory is what gives appeals to me as an enthusiast. When you fall down the rabbit hole of enthusiast keyboards, you will notice the customization and personalization within this hobby. There are large communities on reddit and youtube that explore the topic. There are also different markets for different niches within the hobby. Some people like custom built some like pre-built, some like vintage, and some like foreign keyboards as if it were a delicacy. Its been 2 years since I got into the hobby. I am very passionate about mk, yet I've barely scratched the surface.

just for those of you who aren't familiar with switch types mx red: it's a linear switch which in simple terms means that it's basically on a spring which goes up and down. (lineally). This feels most like a standard membrane keyboard, but it's also not the same. mx brown: this is a tactile switch. inside the switch, there is a little bump so that if you press down the switch, towards the bottom, you feel a bit of a bump. mx blue: this is a clicky switch. it is like a tactile switch, but it is designed to be quite a bit noisier, and sound clicky. different switches appeal to different people (personally i am a fan of tactile switches because of the physical feedback without the loudness of a clicky switch), hopefull this helps. cheers guys

Hey Ali, try half pressing the keys! The idea of a mechanical keyboard is that the actuation point is in the middle of the key travel which it allows you to double pressing easier and hit the keys lighter than a typical non-mechanical keyboard. 11:25 - The nice thing about mechanical keyboards is that you can take out the keycaps and customise them to your liking! You can swap the Win and Alt keys and replace the Win key with a Command keycap.

@thakkumikku when I type for about half an hour then my fingers get tired an the speed get reduced. Any advices for resting the fingers in such a way that my hands don't get tired quickly.

You could swap the windows and left-alt key. You COULD buy a key puller, but you could also just pop them out with a knife or flathead screwdriver.

For a quieter option consider brown 😂😂 nope, I have Cherry MX browns and they're louder than the reds and more clicky. Browns are in between blues and reds in terms of how tactile and clicky and loud they are

I just bought one through your link. Thank You ! It's the most expensive keyboard that I have bought, but I am so looking forward to receiving it 😂。
