Keep an eye on when meat gets reduced in price at your grocery stores. You can use other cuts of beef, even shanks, whole flank steak, eye of round, Osso Bucco, buffalo, elk, deer, etc. Chuck is not a necessary, you can get all other meats very tender by just cooking them longer. I got a whole flank steak at my local King Soopers (Kroger) for $10 recently. I got whole ribeyes for $4.97/lb at Christmas. I bought 3.
@kp81742 жыл бұрын
Ask around and see if you can buy a whole cow. We get one every 18 months and only pay $800.00. It’s organically raised and I get to choose the cuts. I think we paid about $2.10/lb last September. I bought the largest chest freezer on the market and it filled it up! I already have my appointment scheduled for the next one. If you go to ranchers or look in the papers you might be able to find someone. Just keep asking around and eventually you’ll find a reliable source. I know there are websites that connect the non- farmer with the farmer in many U.S. areas. I can’t remember it off-hand but I know I’ve come across it before.
@MissouriCrookedBarnHomestead2 жыл бұрын
@@kp8174 I'm in Wyoming and I've not seen anyone here charging less than $6/lb and that's not including processing. Some cuts might be worth that, but ground beef, shanks, and many other cuts are definitely not worth that.
