I know this is old but you keep saving me with these older videos. You helped me out with my mystery snails, and the stocking of my 40 breeder. You have helped me fall in love with rasbors. I have harlequin and scissor Rasbora. I have about 6 of each and I have 2 yoyo laoches I believe a male and female. There is a big size difference and they arw year old now, well I have had them a year. I have a albino BN and 4 blue powder dwarf gouramis. The gouramis came from a family memeber that was not giving them any mind. So I took them home to my 40 breeder. Its toblate for one. I have hit him with everything under the Sun. I just recently found out about gourami disease😢 it stinks he is the most loving out of the 4. I figured I would let him be till he shows signs of really being sick. He still really active and he eats like a piggie still. He ia named after my zodiac Aires. Again thank you so much for being you and being so awesome❤

Hi Rachel - have been an avid follower of your channel as I have just gotten back into fish keeping after an 8 year break. I have just purchased 4 nerites (2 zebra, 2 onions). Do you have any acclimation advice on adding them to a tank? They were already being kept in freshwater. I hope you and your family are doing well after your recent trials and thanks so much for posting your videos!!
@MrRoverpilot3 жыл бұрын
Would you consider doing a video where are you compared all of the different types of nerite snails, red racers, horned, balik, tiger, olive, etc. For things like life expectancy, quantity of eggs laid, I know sound like to lay their eggs on the glass and some only lay their eggs on rocks. Some are more likely to crawl out of your tank, some eat a higher overall volume of alge. Some are never seen in the tank and summer quite stunning. You could even throw in a little information about Rams Horn, as well as Malaysian Horn snails . I have asked other people on KZbin to do this video and so far they have declined. Or they have pointed me to videos that just gave the most cursory explanation of them.

@RachelOLeary4 жыл бұрын
Poor quality from the start. They are often mostly starved by the time they end up in retail establishments, and if they are not prepared to feed them a natural diet when they are stressed, they often die.

Interesting critters, Rachel. Was thinking of getting some myself, but then I read about the eggs that they are pretty hard to remove if they lay them on pieces of wood and/or other ornaments. Is that true?
@conrad22817 жыл бұрын
The horned are a favorite of mine because the eggs are much smaller and less bright-white then other Nerite species. I don't notice them at all and I am pretty finicky. Other Nerite species do create white dots everywhere, I agree. Of the horned I have only own the "Horned Bumble-Bees", though. I can't speak for the eggs the other horned lay.

I've had my horned nerites for almost a year now and they only really laid eggs one time. After about two weeks the eggs slowly started to dissolve and now I dont see them anywhere. I woudl probably do things gradually, then try to keep things as stable as possible. Smaller more frequent water changes rather than large volume if the tank chemistry is going to be very different from your source water- or pretreat the water change water so its closer.

@KaPika7357 жыл бұрын
jake schreiner I wouldn't reccomend it - they're much smaller than other nerites and a healthy & unstunted goldfish will almost definitely get large enough to eat them shell and all within less than a year. i'd say stick with zebra, tiger & military helmet nerites for goldfish, but even then the goldfish will attempt to eat their feet xx
@briannaharter44117 жыл бұрын
it depends on your goldfish.mine love to eat pest snails like their candy but normally leave the horned nerites alone cause they don't like their spiky hard shells.

I'm really frustrated because people kept telling me my snail ( I only had it a week and a half) died because I had salt in the tank. 1 tsp per gallon. This doesn't make any since that he would have died form the salt because I've read they can live in even saltier water and they REQUIRE brackish water just to start their lives. My water lvls are all perfect. Did I really kill it with salt or are these people just being jerks?
@hokkaidospring6 жыл бұрын
Nystia Was the salt you used aquarium salt? Also, the sudden change in the water of the salt being added could have harmed it since you bought it from a fish/pet store and they could have been kept in a very low salinity. If your waters were pristine, the salt could have been the cause of death but there are so many other causes such as starvation, disease, oxygen levels, etc.
