There are some songs where Tim and Chance quite gracefully swap the lead and the baseline from one verse to the next. A great example of this is their Christmas original, Snow Globe which Tim wrote and would be perfect for your channel, if you haven't seen it already--or even if you have. I'm sure they do multitrack in the studio on occasion. In live shows they'll use a looper to handle some repetitive backup stuff, but they make the sampling part of the show. It's pretty cool. There is recent cell phone video on youtube of this happening on their Man of Constant Sorrow/Folsom Prison Blues mashup. It's easy to find. I'm 60 years old but will not be sleeping on NYE before midnight. I'll be out indulging in New Years activities. 🙂 I won't be available for the live stream. For me it's not the time, it's the date. Also, I've been subscribed to Tom MacDonald's channel for about a year. Reactors have led me to alot of talent that would have never landed on my radar otherwise.

That was so much fun! Loved the video too showing the guys upgrading to different trucks. It is like their journey as a group. They upgrade all the covers they do. These guys just keep getting better & better. This is the 1st song they did on the "Sing Off" that they won in 2013. They are doing a 10 year anniversary album of all the songs.

Home Free and other a Capella groups do multi-tracking for their studio produced recordings. For example, in Man of Constant Sorrow, you can hear Adam Rupp doing the no-monica over a rhythm track. It is not strictly cheating because it is still produced vocally and not by instruments. When Home Free does Man of Constant Sorrow like they use a looper to get the extra tracks.

I love both the Sing off and this version. Yes, Chance can get low enough to cover bass when Tim is singing...but, no one can go Dragon Tim deep. I believe all the groups sometimes use layering in the studio. It's still just their voices. Thanks for the Home Free reactions

Chance is doing bass. Chance has a 4 octave range Tim has 5 octaves. But any time Tim is lead or singing Chance has bass that's one of the reasons Chance was brought to Home Free to join the group was so Tim could sing instead of just doing bass line. Great reaction!!! Also I'm 63, and I do know who Tom Mcdonald is I love his music. It's true Tom looks scary but he is AMAZINGLY TALENTED. Don't judge a book by its cover.

I love this video (actually, I love alll their videos, esp. the live ones - you have to watch "Sea Shanty Medley Live"). Chance takes bass when Tim's singing lead. Of course the singing, harmonies & beatboxing are terrific - they always are. It's apropos that Austin sings the first verse since he is from south Georgia (his rendition of "Georgia" on his channel is stunning). All best wishes to you and yours in the New Year!

Chance can get pretty low on the bass he was bass in his former group Street Corner Symphony.He sings bass when Tim sings lead. You could check out his original Skull And Bones.Home Free was commissioned to write a sea shanty by Ubisoft for their soon to be released video game of the same name. They did a full song Lyric video and sung a shorter version live at the Ubisoft premiere. Tim and Chance are both doing bass at the same time it is amazing. If you do react to it I would recommend doing both because the studio and live are a little different.

The second bass is most likely Chance -- he was the bass in his previous group, and carries the bass when Tim is carrying the melody. This one is really tight and lots of fun. BTW, persons over 55 may not fit the demographic you are describing -- a common mistake young people make. I know, because I have been a young person, and I know who Tom MacDonald is. lol. Enjoyed your reaction, Home Free is my favorite vocal band!

Chance is a bass also, not as low as Tim, but he used to be the bass in his last group before joining Home Free and he does do a lot of the background bass especially when Tim is singing lead.
